  1. I'm travelling over for this game. I'm combining it with a trip to see Carlisle Castle and Cathedral. If anyone here is going, let me know and I'll say hello. Carlisle have won 2 games and lost 6 so far. They are 3rd from bottom. They conceded 2 goals in the last 10 minutes and lost 3-2 at home to Grimsby. I watched a couple of highlights from their home games and they create and give up a fair amount of opportunities. Notts will exploit that so I'd imagine they'll tweak it a bit. I'm expecting goals. It could easily be a 7 goal thriller. 4-3 to Notts I reckon. And a Cumberland Sausage Roll for me. Mmmm.......
  2. We were lucky to escape with a point. The first half was poor. The second half was a bit better. Jodi and Jatta are massive losses. The pleasing part is that the team didn't let their heads drop. That's a good sign.
  3. Morecambe are on a 12 game winless streak in League football. I have watched a few of their highlights and there is no shortage of effort. The draw with Fleetwood was a great result given that they were 2 down and under severe pressure. Notts are unbeaten in the last 6 games against Morecambe. In our last 3 away games, we beat them once and drew twice. No Jodi and Jatta is a blow but we should have enough quality to win this game. A hard fought 2-1 win I reckon. The winner in the last 10 mins.
  4. A win and no injuries. We'll take that. I'd prefer knockout but the powers that be would rather the U21 sides get 3 games.
  5. This is a game we could do without. Play as many squad players as possible and no more injuries.
  6. Gillingham know how to defend and they take their chance when they get it. Losses you can get over but not the loss of key players. Here's hoping for some good news later.
  7. Gillingham have had 3 red cards already this season. They're not a dirty team so that is a bit surprising. Anyway they are a decent side, tipped by many to win the league. They lost at Doncaster, another favourite for promotion, and I think Notts will beat them as well.
  8. The most encouraging thing about that was the team and SM stuck to the plan and played their way into the game. 4 goals at Bromley is mighty impressive. Keeping them to 2 was important. Notts will always score goals and so it proved.
  9. Hello Bromley, our old friend, we've come to play you once again....... Our record against Bromley isn't very good. We've only beaten them once in 8 meetings. We've drawn 4 times. Bromley play a direct style of football. It hasn't changed much since we last played them. Notts are playing with confidence. Bromley will fancy their chances at home. It has the makings of an exciting game. I think Notts will win the game. 1-0 I reckon.
  10. 3 points and a clean sheet. Got to be happy with that. Accrington are a poor side. I wouldn't be surprised if they end up getting relegated.
  11. I think you can watch it on SKY+? It's every team live according to the ads. You go in and pick your team I think.....
  12. Accrington Stanley's away form is poor and that's being kind. They have lost 4-1 and 3-1. Given how Notts play at home, I'd imagine a pile of punters will have this down as a home win. It's hard to see anything but a home win. 4-1 to Notts.
  13. Below are the details of the court case. The facts speak for themselves. Footballer Jevani Brown fined for slapping woman outside Exeter nightclub - Devon Live WWW.GOOGLE.COM The former Exeter City star striker appeared in court today
  14. 3 points away from home? Yes please. Here you go. Job done.
  15. I'll pass on welcoming him. He's here and there's nothing we can do about that.
  16. It will be interesting to see how SM approaches this game. There was a more cautious approach away to Tranmere. It was more about not losing. Swindon are there for the taking. They aren't as poor as their results seem to indicate. They will improve IMO but it's a good time to play them. Notts need to press them. The one concern is crosses/set pieces. Swindon have the ability to punish us. That's an area that has to improve. I'm going for a 2-1 win.
  17. Sven was one of our own. He could have demanded his 5m but he waived it. That unselfish act should always be remembered. May Sven rest in peace.
  18. Consistency is the key in this league. Notts have put together a couple of excellent performances. The only reason it's 4 points instead of 6 is poor defending from crosses/set pieces. That needs to be worked on. All in all, a fantastic result.
  19. Grimsby are a decent side. They had an excellent 3-2 home win against Cheltenham. They also beat Bradford on penalties in the EFL Cup after a 1-1 draw. Their only away game was a 1-0 loss at Fleetwood. Notts ticked a lot of boxes against Fleetwood and on another day would have scored 4 or 5. A repeat of that performance and most teams will have a very difficult time against us. I expect Notts to take the game to Grimsby and come away with a win. 3-1 I reckon.
  20. On a side note, I thought Alex Bass was excellent yesterday. His shot stopping is top notch. He could do nothing about the goals. An excellent start to his Notts County career.
  21. I'm not sure how Notts didn't win that game, well I actually do when I think about it, an inability to defend set pieces, where have we heard that before...... There were plenty of positives to be fair. Play like that against Grimsby and it will be 3 points in the bag. Fleetwood are dogged. They stuck in there and defended brilliantly. David Harrington in goal is a Cork man like myself. His Dad was a great goalie for Cork City.
  22. Fleetwood are top 10 candidates IMO. They were decent against Grimsby. They showed character against West Brom. They went a goal down but kept plugging away and got their reward. Notts were solid for 135 mins and then reverted to the Notts of last season in the second half against Shrewsbury. There will be changes against Fleetwood. I expect a close game. Notts to win 2-1.
  23. Notts were amazing in the first half. Shrewsbury improved in the 2nd half but they didn't have to work hard for their goals. There was little evidence of game management by Notts. I felt Notts needed to mix it up a bit to keep Shrewsbury guessing.
  24. A point away from home is never a bad result. The defence looked solid. Any team would miss Langstaff, but Notts would have won yesterday if he was still at the club. A poacher could be the difference between automatic promotion and the playoffs. A 15 goal striker will make all the difference because we won't concede as many goals as last season.
  25. An interesting question and the more you think about it, the more questions you have. I think the buck stops with SM. It's his job to pick the right personnel to fit into the system. The system comes from the top down though. So is SM allowed to change systems or style of play? Hmmmmm. Oh man, I'm not going that rabbit hole, it's bed time........
