  1. Welcome to the community here at PoN, @Max Roberts.
  2. Notts County is certainly cementing its place in history with such a landmark event. It's good to see the respect Luke Williams has for our club's past. His words are an embodiment of the sentiments that every true Notts fan feels towards this great club. It's a celebration of not just the milestones achieved but also an acknowledgment of the legacy left by legends like Jimmy Sirrel and Brian Clough. Their influences are indeed ever present and continue to motivate current and future generations. This 5000th EFL match signifies more than just a game, it's a testament to the resilience and spirit of this club which has stood the test of time.
  3. As for the upcoming match, Notts County needs to maintain their concentration and function effectively as a unit. If the opposition comes out swinging, we need to weather that storm and remain composed. Teams that successfully apply pressure often cause us to become somewhat disorganised in defence. The Salford match serves as a prime example of how we can defuse the intensity of games and confidently control the ball ourselves. Colchester will undoubtedly be determined not to lose on their home turf, so they’ll be battling for every point available.
  4. Luke Williams’ insightful comments are commendable. His unwavering focus and steadfast mindset are indicative of robust leadership, centred on the right priorities. While some managers might revel in their current position, one must never count one’s chickens in football. Williams’ approach is truly remarkable.
  5. Such fantastic resilience from Notts! From Crowley and Langstaff's lead-establishing goals to Bostock and McGoldrick securing the win, the team's spirit was on full display throughout. Hats off to Deeney as well for keeping us on our toes with his brilliant hat-trick. A truly exciting match this was!
  6. Congrats to Crowley and the entire Notts team. The 'no-excuses' mindset and their rigorous preparation are certainly paying dividends on the pitch.
  7. It’s delightful to acknowledge that Notts has been a part of Neil Warnock’s managerial journey. It wouldn’t be surprising if he chooses to retire after this. Hopefully, he will have more time to indulge in golf and other activities that he enjoys.
  8. Notts is indeed making significant strides under the stewardship of Luke Williams. The current form of the team is quite promising, and it’s heartening to see. It’s crucial that we maintain our focus and approach each game with the same level of diligence and concentration as we did the previous one. Whether playing at home or on the road, watching the team perform this season has been a truly enjoyable experience. The promotion we achieved last season has had a tremendous impact on our confidence, amplifying it tenfold. This newfound confidence is evident in our play, and it’s exciting to see what the future holds for us. Let’s continue to support our team and look forward to more victories!
  9. The Wolves should present a good opportunity for Ian Burchnall. I wish him luck with his move.
  10. Salford City appeared quite deficient early on, which explains why they hadn’t secured a victory at their home ground. Their pitch is not only soulless but also small, which doesn’t seem to work to their advantage. Notts circulated the ball quite well, although there were moments when I wished they had continued moving sideways instead of retreating all the way back to Aidan Stone. Some of his distribution resulted in the ball being instantly returned, which was another source of frustration. However, the match was largely enjoyable. When Notts were in possession, they seemed vibrant and some of the early exchanges appeared to be inspired by training ground manoeuvres. I’m not criticising the performance; I simply believe we don’t always need to aim long goal kicks at one player or pass the ball all the way back to the goalkeeper. Clearly, it worked as evidenced by a solid 2-0 victory. We just need to maintain this momentum.
  11. Fantastic resilience shown by Notts. Keep pushing lads, we're all behind you!
  12. Remarkable growth in Crowley’s performance, hasn't it been? Testament to how conducive the Notts environment is.
  13. Langstaff's thoughts after that stunning performance, it's clear that his work on the pitch is just an extension of his overall attitude. His dedication, humility, and appetite for improvement stand out. This interview also highlights some important points; the significance of each victory, the infectious nature of teamwork and chemistry, and the invaluable role played by the fans. Each of these contributes to the larger narrative of Notts County's growth and potential. His words echo the ethos of someone who not only recognises his role within a broader unit but also appreciates the part played by supporters off the pitch.
  14. Graham Alexander’s comments were indeed very respectful, as one would anticipate. It appears that MK Dons have performed admirably thus far, despite having players unavailable and worries about their strikers. It doesn’t seem to have caused them much harm, but Notts are aware of their quality and we must simply be mindful of our actions. Hopefully, it will be an engaging match where both teams attempt to take advantage of the other.
  15. The attendances do make a difference; it’s good money for the club, and very few yesterday were from Accrington itself. Very poor support if I am honest; they could have at least brought a few more hundred. Our drummer also now adds a good beat to the game, whereas the only noise I heard from Accrington’s fans was an odd drum noise every so often and not for long at all. Our supporters need to avoid being like that; I think Doncaster would have made more noise at Meadow Lane.
  16. This PON feature is a terrific initiative, capturing the emotions and connecting the fans in a unique way. Long may it continue!
  17. John Coleman mentioned in the clip above that he wants to take positives from the game, but he spends the majority of the time speaking fictional nonsense and complaining. His side deserved nothing from the game; they didn’t nullify Notts. If anything, Notts slowed their game down way too much and allowed them to come into it after our opening goal. I give Stanley credit for looking like a good side, but their finishing and play in the final third weren’t good at all. Coleman just comes across as a bit bitter; I thought the referee protected them far more than Notts. Their players constantly targeted Langstaff and Jones by taking them down with rash challenges. Their defender also threw himself into the boot of Jones; the ball was low and not at head height. It wasn’t dangerous play on his part, just madness. What about their player who kicked Brindley in the back when he was going to take a throw-in? It was a good game, but Accrington’s hype is very much overstated.
  18. Luke Williams doesn’t need to make changes; there’s no reason for it. If he does, I would imagine it’s tactical or to give someone a rest. All the players are performing at an acceptable level. I think the squad is coming to grips with the level of League Two, whilst our fitness levels have helped to keep consistent performance for 90 minutes. The fact that Notts aren’t chasing the ball or wasting energy is a good thing. I want to see Notts make Accrington work for the ball and any chances that come their way. I have every faith that Notts can do well against them.
  19. It’s an interesting point; I think we all do from time to time. I would rather support and enjoy watching Notts than allow what happens to cause me to be too critical. At times this will happen, but I think I am able to reset. I know there are people who have a disliking for Sam Slocombe, and this season it seems to be Connell Rawlinson and Kyle Cameron. To be at the point where you call for them to leave or complain after one mistake, not taking into consideration all the good they do, then I would hate to be those types of people. They are far too unreasonable and critical of things.
  20. Luke Williams does a good job balancing who starts. I think the call to play Sam Austin at Doncaster was a good one. It’s useful because some players don’t want to be squad players and try to force themselves into the starting 11 or even out of the club. So far, we have signed players who are all fully committed to Williams and Notts County. It’s really a superb feeling, knowing that this squad will push themselves that extra bit that gets results.
  21. Anything is possible within reason; there’s no reason why Notts couldn’t be playing at a much higher level, but my concern is that the Premier League brings a lot of debt and price increases. We are a family club, and I fear this will change if the Premier League were to beckon. I don’t want Notts to jump too far ahead of themselves. I wish to see them in the Championship in the near future, which is where I would be happiest. Until then, we are in League Two, and I am enjoying our time.
  22. It was end-to-end at the start, but Notts had the best of chances. Tranmere tried to huff and puff, but they didn’t get anywhere. Cedwyn’s injury turned the game on its head. It gave Tranmere the surge to believe they could get something; it shows the real quality that our 11 has and how defiant we are in protecting leads when going down to 10 men. It’s much easier to hold leads than to come back from disadvantages when teams have goals and you have fewer players on the pitch. Excellent win, long may it continue.
  23. The painting is very good; the detail is exceptional and it’s certainly different.
  24. Those last moments were a test for Notts' spirit! Buckling down despite being a man less, and managing to navigate through a tricky finish, shows great resilience. I particularly admired how players stepped up and put in extra effort to cover the spaces left. The team cohesion was highly evident, no one let their heads drop. These are the performances that give fans joy and pride for various reasons, not just for the win but for the show of extraordinary character.
  25. The connection between the fans and the team was electric at Meadow Lane. The support from the crowd truly lifted the players and gave them the extra push they needed. And it's amazing to see the impact of Luke Williams' coaching on Rawlinson's growth as a player. His philosophy and the one-on-one work with Ryan Harley seem to be paying off. Notts County is definitely on the right track for a successful season.
