  1. I don’t think I’m in a position to vote, but as an exile here in the States, this is exactly what I like to read. It’s clear that everyone has put a lot of thought into this and it’s very interesting to see who has been mentioned. With Macaulay Langstaff’s goal tally, I can certainly see why people would vote for him. As for Matty Palmer, he seems to have played many minutes which is usually a sign of excellence. I can’t say much else but Ruben Rodrigues is the other player I would suspect to be named. It’s nice to see the effects of a good season and how the squad has improved off the backs of each others hard work.
  2. As I haven’t been in the best of health and have therefore been unable to give much thought to Notts, this is by far the most useful thing I have read. It’s pretty much a catch-up for exiles like me.
  3. Based on the Wrexham game and other comments, some players may benefit from getting some rest. It may not have been an option for Luke Williams during the Wrexham game, but as the playoffs approach, it may be necessary to make some changes in certain areas.
  4. Sam Slocombe:: He's a good goalkeeper, but he's getting older, so his playing career is in its later stages. If the team gets promoted, I'd keep him. But if not, I'd suggest finding a younger keeper who can grow with the team. Kyle Cameron: I don't have much knowledge about Kyle Cameron. It appears that he focuses more on attacking than defending. It may be wise to sign him for two years and pair him with more experienced defenders. Connell Rawlinson: I think there are better defenders available even for a backup position, and I would consider letting him go. Adam Chicksen: He should have competition and rest sometimes. I've heard good things about him this season. We should offer him another one-year deal at least. Jim O'Brien: To be honest, I think it's time to replace him. Keeping him could lead to another player wanting to leave, which isn't good. Frank Vincent: He's a good player who hasn't had much luck, but I think he deserves another chance with more game time. Aaron Nemane: He doesn't seem to defend well and was missing for Wrexham's second goal. He's created chances, but other clubs may want him and Notts might not be able to compete. Ruben Rodrigues: He's a good player, but sometimes he's given too much credit. He's still worth keeping to see if we can get some money back if a bigger team becomes interested.
  5. From what I saw in the highlights, Notts County's defense looked disconnected and made very poor mistakes that led to all three goals for Wrexham. It didn't seem like Wrexham was a better team, they just handled the occasion better. The most disappointing thing from my perspective is that Notts County threw away a perfectly good lead due to mistakes that could have been avoided. Notts scored two good goals, but Wrexham made them work hard for those goals. Wrexham made the mistake of handling the ball near the end, but they didn't get punished for it. However, Notts County's poor defending only punished themselves.
  6. American journalists often like to go against the norm and create a new angle on a topic that others aren't covering. This can be to offer a fresh perspective or to challenge a more popular viewpoint. Regardless, it's great for Notts County to receive recognition like this. The article is very complimentary, and I find it surprising that no one in the UK has written about the Wrexham story in this way.
  7. Was that not Michael Petrasso? As far as I remember, Zeli Ismail scored a couple of penalties, but I don't think he ever played exceptionally well beyond the level he was expected to perform at.
  8. When you're a Notts fan living away from the club, one of the best things was getting updates from Jason Turner. He was always really passionate and knew a lot about the team. Between him and the Pride of Nottingham, you had everything you needed to know what was happening at the club. From the fans' opinions to what the CEO thought about how things were going. You knew the club was in good hands. It's sad to hear that Jason has passed away, but we'll always remember him.
  9. It seems like the dreams of the club's owner have turned into a nightmare. The Financial Fair Play Rules banned the club from the Europa League, which made it clear that money wouldn't necessarily bring success. In addition, the owner's plans to redevelop the marina in Marbella and create thousands of new jobs with vast profits fell apart due to financial difficulties. The owner's relationship with a business partner also soured, which led to court cases and unfavorable rulings. The football club was relegated in 2018 due to unmanageable debts and, in 2020, the owner was removed as club president due to alleged misappropriation of funds. While the club's finances have stabilized under a court-appointed administrator, the football side of the business has not improved.
  10. It's not really a matter of the other team being better, it's more about how they handled the situation and made the most of the support from their home crowd. I watched the highlights and all of the other team's goals made it seem like Notts County couldn't defend well. For example, the first goal was confusing because our player fell down too easily. On the second goal, nobody was guarding the far post and the goalkeeper had no chance when they were left wide open like that. The same player who fell down easily for the first goal also made a mistake for the third goal. Their poor defending was really apparent.
  11. It would have been great if the club had stayed in the top position, but the fact that they managed to close the gap and even briefly take the top spot, despite the odds being against them, is still a success in its own way.
  12. It looks like Luke Williams has found a good way to handle fixture changes by not letting them become a distraction. This allows the club to focus on what really matters, rather than getting caught up in a debate that doesn't affect the season.
  13. Yes, it's true that Wrexham FC has generated a lot of interest recently, with the involvement of Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell. The fact that Will Ferrell flew over to watch a Wrexham game certainly caught people's attention, and the "Welcome to Wrexham" documentary has helped to push the club even further into the public eye. The club has become more popular because of the exposure famous people and the eyes that they bring to the club,
  14. I have seen pictures of Meadow Lane, it was nice to see the stands brimming with fans.
  15. It's encouraging to hear positive news about the injury front. Hopefully, whoever starts in goal will be fully fit and ready to perform. If the regular number 1 is carrying a knock, it may be wise to rest him unless he is capable of fulfilling his role to the best of his ability. It's important to prioritise player health and well-being, especially if it means avoiding further complications or prolonging the injury. Ultimately, the team's success is dependent on the collective effort of all players, and ensuring they are in optimal condition should be a top priority.
  16. It sounds like the lad has his head screwed on and is determined to succeed. I think that kind of hunger and confidence is necessary to thrive in any field. With time, his ability will only improve, and he will become more adept at managing his nerves. A debut is a significant moment for any young player, and I hope that he can use it as a springboard to push on and achieve even greater things. It's always inspiring to see young talent emerging, and I'm excited to see what the future holds for him.
  17. It's crazy to think that those numbers aren't good enough to secure promotion from the National League. The article is a good read, and I would like to express my appreciation to the person who originally shared it and to Liam for posting it here. The statistics presented in the article really put things into perspective, and it's a shame that such a strong performance isn't enough to earn a promotion automatically. However, I'm hopeful that the team will continue to perform well and achieve success in the future.
  18. Thank you, for the messages we oming me back. Actually, I haven't had the chance to keep up with things. I've had to stay in hospital for a while, and the WiFi was limited. I spent a few months recovering, but I managed to get online last Wednesday. I wasn't really bothered at first, but when I searched for Notts, I was surprised to see that they were doing so well. Most of what I knew before was about Wrexham, which seems to dominate the news.
  19. Great news, everyone! I'm back for the third time, and I'm feeling better than ever! Although I had a bit of a rough patch in 2020 when I had to take some time off to recover from an illness, things were looking up...until I got hit with COVID. But don't worry, I'm still standing strong and I'm ready to take on the world! Now, you might remember that the last time I was here, I talked about how I had retired and was busy renovating my home. Well, I haven't quite finished everything up yet, but it's already starting to feel like home sweet home. I do want to apologise for my absence and not coming back sooner, but I promise to make it up to you all! I can't wait to catch up with old friends and make new ones.
  20. I have had to invest a lot of time fixing my home to the standard I like and have neglected to check in on PON. I am back after a fairly lengthy break. Hope to pick up where I left. What has everyone been up to? Anything new to report?
  21. The club looks able to move forward, I am hoping this seasons doesn't go to waste but I would agree the club is in better hands now. Moving forward and growing in confidence here on should be easier than at the start of the campaign.
  22. Very enjoyable and good insight in to German food, one of these days I will have to take a holiday there.
  23. Very good insight into that period of the clubs history and of course the managers short stay at Meadow Lane. Where was Notts at the time he ended up getting the axe?
  24. Very amusing blog, several times I laughed out loud and I can’t believe I didn’t notice this sooner. Is the food good at German grounds? I imagine the beers fantastic.
  25. Superb pictures!
