  1. It's only to be expected that the team has been hugely effected by the tragic circumstances regarding the death of Adam Johnson & colleague during a match. They've actually been very unlucky to lose a few matches by the odd goal & also they've had to play so many matches to play catch up
  2. Blackpool 0 V 1 Notts County League Division 2 October 1973. Only goal of the match scored by Arthur Mann, remember him, featuring Don Masson, Kevin Randall & Eric Probert in the build up play. Notts finished the 1973/74 season in 10th place with a record of:- 15 wins, 13 draws & 14 defeats
  3. @DangerousSausage I think Phil would be a good choice too along with other possible contenders. It's refreshing that Notts always tend to keep these things under wraps. I'm sure lots of work is going on, as I write, to find, interview & appoint a new Head Coach, but Notts won't rush it. We will probably be taken by surprise once the Reedtz brothers' choice is presented to us.
  4. The postponed Match against Sutton United has been rearranged for Tues 27th February 7:45pm.
  5. Jim signed for Notts on this day 5 years ago. He's been such a loyal servant to Notts. Now he leads the team as interim Head Coach.
  6. This man is such an important player for us. When he got injured we were never the same. His return will take some time but it's great to see him back doing some fitness work.
  7. Some good news to report to begin the week.
  8. Great News for Panthers Ice Hockey Fans. Panthers off the bottom of the Elite League with a win on their travels after a record run of defeats.
  9. Oh my goodness @DangerousSausage I might escape relegation yet.????
  10. I agree @menzinho if we perform as well as we did in our first 26 games, win more than we lose with a few draws in there, we can still make the playoffs. If we can get another 12 wins & 2 draws from the last 22 matches that's doable. On that model we could afford to lose up to 8 matches & still qualify with 80 points.
  11. I agree @DangerousSausage that the automatics are out of reach now and a sixth or Seventh place finish is what we should be aiming for now. Any higher would be a big bonus.
  12. The season begins again with a New coach interim Head Coach in place & waiting for a Permanent Head Coach to be selected. We reset the results and start again. Twenty two games left. Everything to play for.
  13. @Super_Danny_Allsopp I agree. It will be probably a relatively unknown coach And they won't rush it either. Hope Jim gets a couple of games in charge. It will be good experience for him
  14. Thanks for the Memory Luke. Now we at Notts turn the page to a new chapter in our great history.
  15. The modern game now requires much more from a goalkeeper, 20, 30, 40, 50 years ago Keepers were expected to be proficient in Keeping duties and take goal kicks and punts up to the halfway line with the very occasional role out. Now Keepers are expected to distribute, act as sweeper and pass the ball out just about every time they get the ball. Some keepers are good at this some are not. I think nowadays a good all rounder will always be sought for, good on crosses, good shot stopper and distributor.
  16. Iain McCulloch scored 51 goals in 215 appearances for Notts. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iain_McCulloch
  17. I think we've got to get at least 12 wins and 2 draws from the remaining 22 matches, taking 8 more defeats which would give us 80 points total, which should get us in to the playoffs. 77 points could be enough but that's a stretch. It is going to be tough to do it. It depends on many factors now of course. New Head Coach, New players, and can we keep Macaulay, Dan and others.
  18. Looking forward to Jim O'Brien's first press conference pre Grimsby, as Interim Head Coach. It will be interesting listening.
  19. Notts County 1 Man United 0 First Division April 1984, featuring Trevor Christie & Ian McParland. A great win over Manchester United at Meadow Lane. Great memories watching this from my regular place on the County Road side Iain McCulloch broke his leg in this game which sadly ended his Career.
  20. I believe we can now that Luke Williams has gone. Jim will hopefully get a good result at Grimsby. When the new permanent Head Coach is appointed, Notts will get another big lift again. Reaching the playoffs in our first season back in League 2 would be tremendous.
  21. Luke has gone. Now we look to see what changes will be made by interim Head Coach Jim O'Brien. I'm hoping that Jim is going to be more cautious & more defensive minded at Grimsby. We really do need a result here.
  22. The National Insurance rate cut . Is it really a tax cut in real terms?
