  1. Derry getting his point across

<!--url{0}-->Notts County boss Shaun Derry focused on the positives after his side were held 1-1 at home by fellow strugglers Bristol City.

City were awarded the game's first spot kick when Dean Leacock was penalised for holding Aden Flint, with Sam Baldock slamming the penalty home.

Just when it seemed this would be enough for City, Alan Sheehan held his nerve to ****** a point for Derry's side after Marvin Elliott had been judged to have grabbed Leacock in the 89th minute.

Derry said: "The referee did have the last word and there are disappointments from both sides, but I think we'll leave that for another day.

"I don't think either manager will ever both get what they want out of them.

"Overall, I'm really pleased with the point because it was a big game for us.

"Steve came here and wanting to win and I know what he's like as a character, I've worked with him before and his players did very well for him.

"When you get a point like that at the death, you'll take anything because there were a lot of disappointments on the pitch.

"They showed their character and they showed exactly what I want them to do.

"As a manager I want them to express themselves right until the very end and I felt they did that and there are young players learning every day with us."

  5. how was everyones christmas?

mine was spent with relative who never bother to do anything all year round, apart from christmas day and that is their day to show off. i logged on here quite a bit, it was extremely dull. i did get a new notts top, new coat also notts and my mum got a tablet which came with a notts cover, i dont think its official though.

how about you, whats is your new year eves plans? my household dont celebrate it, so i am working.

  6. Port Vale are doing better than I thought they would, their owner does a lot of interacting with the fan base and the football league show did a section on him earlier in the year - I can remember being bemused by the 'refreshing' to see comments the show made. Other clubs have already done such, yet it was nice to see.

Apart from Lee Hughes (who I don't want to see play or score), I don't know enough about them. I actually can't name another Vale player, which isn't normal.

We will be without Gary Liddle, yet Ball is reportedly okay to play.

Who do we slot into midfield with 'Every Liddle Helps' absence? I think Fotheringham did okay, although he did a few things which I didn't like and I am usually one who defends him (as I do with others) lol.

Tempest? Perhaps the Charlton midfielder we are yet to have seen, I've forgotten his name! Bradley? Mmm....

    Thoughts?

  12. Hi all,

Have migrated over from the 'other' site which seems to have crashed totally in the past few days. The new home seems far more professional! Good job one and all and I look forward to saying hi to and and all.

Merry Xmas and roll on another 3 points!

  13. hi fellow magpies, I look forward to contributing to what looks an excellent site.

  14. So many new members! Welcome @originalKimbopie. I hope you enjoy your time on here,Merry Christmas.

  15. Glad to have you with us @Son of Berti.Merry Christmas. Why not introduce yourself-We're a real friendly bunch(most of the time)

  16. Christmas is always a brilliant time of year if your a football fan, the games come thick and fast. Boxing day is one of the must attend fixtures of the season. So what have been your best memories of the festive football fixtures?

The earliest Boxing Day game I can remember was when Barnsley came to town in 02-03 & were beaten 3-2, that was a good'un. More recently there was that 4-1 win at Burton around Christmas time when Lee Hughes was at his magnifficent best, running the Brewers defence ragged and scoring a fantastic hat-trick within about 15 minutes.

For Weymouth Boxing Day is always a bit special. Non-league clubs nearly always get their biggest gates of the season on Boxing Day, and Weymouth's gate has touched the four figure mark for the passed couple of seasons. Years before four figures would have been guarenteed every week but thats part of the damage our decline has caused sadly

  17. Mrs. H. and myself are going away this year for Christmas. We are spending 5 days on the Isle of Wight, in self catering accommodation. We are taking everything with us including the turkey, beer, wine, all the food and veg etc., we don't want to do any shopping when we get there. I hope the car's suspension is up to it.

I'm just hoping the ferry won't be too rough in the windy weather they have forecast for tomorrow.

So I hope everyone has a great time whatever they are doing and I will see you on my return, I will try and pop in on the forum depending on signal strength, if I don't manage to get on with my predictions can someone do some for me please, cheers all. :waving:

  18. Who would you sell, loan out or release in January permitted you could do so?

I might be on my own in this boat, I hope it does not sink like that other member Tony's ferry! I would not get rid of anyone just yet, I would try to loan out a few. Arquin, Labadie, Baucaud perhaps, I cannot think of anyone else.

Arquin is a frustrating player, many clearly want him gone but Shaun seems hell bent on inspiring the players and getting the best out of them. I would like to see what he can do with Arquin, Labadie can go. He does not know how to tackle safely and he puts us in danger, thinking about it Two for One sounds good!

    Labadie and Fotheringham!

  19. Here's a clip of the tackle that injured Gary Liddle. You make your own mind up but for me a definite red card and a penalty.

Which three have stood out the most for you?

Please do add some usernames into the running, as I will below. You Pies!

    Thanks!
