I'm not sure if I have too much free time on my hands, but I recently relocated from a Sheffield-based publishing company to work for a content creation company in Manchester. My move will make it easier for me to attend games, as I previously had an apartment in Leeds when I was studying at university.

During yesterday's game, I couldn't help but notice that there weren't enough chants for the players. I found myself reflecting on the discussion I initiated about reducing the pressure going into the playoffs.

I've come up with three chants, but I'm not sure if they're great ideas or if they'll catch on. Nevertheless, I'm interested to see if they'll be sung, and I hope no one will steal credit for them. Ha ha.

To the tune of "When the Saints Go Marching In":

Oh Cadwyn Scott, he wears the black and white,
Number 19, with pace and might,
Scored some goals, he's quite a sight,
Oh Cadwyn Scott, he's dynamite!

From left to right, he'll run all night,
Defenders shake with fright,
He'll score a goal with all his might,
Oh Cadwyn Scott, what a sight!

Notts County's number 19,
He's in his prime, a goal-scoring machine,
With his skill and football mind,
Oh Cadwyn Scott, you're one of a kind!

To the tune of "La Bamba":

Roberto Chicksen, he's our left-back star,
Runs down the wing, he's faster than a car,
With his left foot, he hits it hard,
Roberto Chicksen, our superstar!

He's got the skills, he's got the pace,
He's always first to win the race,
When he takes a free-kick, watch it soar,
Roberto Chicksen, we want more!

In the black and white, he's a sight to see,
Defenders quake, when he's running free,
He's got the moves, he's got the flair,
Roberto Chicksen, we'll always be there!

So come on County, give us a show,
With Roberto Chicksen, we'll never say no,
From the back to the front, he'll take us far,
Roberto Chicksen, our superstar!

To the tune of "Guantanamera":

Luke Williams, he's the man in charge,
Leading Notts County, oh so large,
With his tactics, he'll take us far,
Luke Williams, our shining star!

He knows the game, he knows it well,
With his team, he'll always excel,
We'll sing his name, with pride we tell,
Luke Williams, he'll lead us well!

From the dugout, he'll guide our play,
To victory, he'll show the way,
With his passion, he'll light the flame,
Luke Williams, he's why we came!

So let's cheer on, with all our might,
For Notts County, we'll fight and fight,
With Luke Williams, we'll reach new heights,
Notts County, we're black and white!

The Roberto Chicksen one is class, I think the first still needs a bit of work to smooth things out, but it could work.

I'm picturing it being sung in my head and, I am quite detailed with my past of writing poetry and song lyrics. "Oh Cadwyn Scott, he's dynamite!" sounds fine, it's the filling between which I would tinker with further if I had written them.

Something as simple as 'Our' in front of the Number 19, with pace and might, scored some goals, he's quite a sight, Makes it seem that extra polished and, I know it's a very simple suggestion but might and sight are quite a common rhyme. I also like the one about Luke Williams. I think that's creative.

Here’s a revised version using UK grammar and spelling: “I actually like all of them. Scott deserves a good song! I think Chicksen would find his amusing since he has developed the nickname ‘Roberto Carlos’ among a select group of fans.

As I am aware, I believe we've got chants for the players ticked

Slocombe ✅

Mair ✅

Brooks ✅

Cameron ✅

Rawlo ✅

Brinds

Baldwin

Nemane ✅

Tobi ✅

Chicksen ✅

Vincent

Palmer

Bostock ✅

Bajrami

Rodrigues ✅

Austin ✅

Obviously we've got one for Luke Williams and Jason Turner. I also think Oasis - Acquiesce should be made the club anthem

Got to admit, from the Family stand end we never hear any player chants.

Seem to be too long winded for me, most Notts fans back in the day could only remember between 1 and 3 line chants. I think the only exceptions were Kevin B and Mark Stallard, but they weren't too taxing!!

@ARLukomski Variety in fan chants is an essential aspect of football that brings an added dimension to the game. Hearing the same repetitive chants can dampen the excitement and atmosphere of the match. With different chants, fans can express their creativity and passion for their team, creating a unique atmosphere that can motivate players and intimidate the opposition. The diversity in fan chants also showcases the culture and identity of the club and its fans. In short, varied chants add to the spectacle of football matches and make them more enjoyable for everyone involved.

@TheSkipper It's always exciting to see new chants emerging among football fans, and it's the only way we'll know if they're good is by encouraging them to be sung. On paper, they may sound great, but the true test is how well they're received in the stands. The chant about Adam Chicksen is not only catchy but also flattering to him in a positive way. It's a testament to the your creativity and ability to show support in unique and entertaining way. It's also great to see a Notts express a wider sense of humour, which makes for a more engaging atmosphere. The success of these chants depends on the fans willingness to embrace and sing them, so let's keep them coming and make football matches even more enjoyable!

I really enjoy hearing chants at football matches, and I think it adds to the overall atmosphere and excitement of the game. I hope that Notts fans embrace this tradition and come up with some new chants for the upcoming season. It would be great to see the fans really getting behind the team and creating a lively and supportive environment for the players.

I believe that all three chants are creative. However, if they were actually sung, that would be a different matter. Nevertheless, I encourage you to give it a go.
