On The Wagon

I consumed quite a bit of alcohol over the Christmas and New Year period (as you do) so on 2nd January I decided enough was enough and stopped drinking any form of alcohol. It was going so well, it didn't bother me at all until today. Mrs. H. cooked a lovely trout for our tea, it was poached in a butter/wine and garlic sauce and I just really really fancied a nice glass of white wine with it but I didn't give in and had a glass of cola instead. Now I think I might be going off the rails and will cave in tomorrow when we have a curry, I love a glass of beer with my curry.

Am I an alcoholic?

At least you can stop, nothing gets in the way of @super_ram!

I had more than had in the rest of the 11 months prior but I'm back to normal now, I have enjoyed it. :)

Hmmm, might just have half with my curry tomorrow............noooooooo, I mustn't.............go on half won't do any harm..............stop it leave me alone.............you know you want one so why fight it............arrrggghhh!!! The voices make them stop.

Mine wasn't all that bad, I'll be tea total for the rest of the year. Only drink the stuff every now or then, perhaps @GrannyPie as some taboo I can raid?

If you get up the next morning feeling crap because you overdid it the night before on a regular basisΒ  then stick to non alcoholic drinks. If you enjoy a drink of beer and savour it rather than gulping it down and know your limit then,no your not a alcoholic.A lot of people overindulge at Christmas(eating as well)Β  and return to normal as soon as the festive season is over.

I'm amazed there are so many non drinkers on here, looks like just me and @super_ram who partake of the Demon Drink.

Yes and when I was young I was a member of The Cadets of Temperance. The Alfreton branch was run by one of my Grandad's sisters, so I was sort ofΒ  press ganged into joining.I used to hate going(fortnightly on Tuesdays) as I would much preferred to haveΒ  been playing football. It did have its upside though,as I got older,as there were a lot more girls than boys .

Well, I have to say that being only a moderation drinker :hyper:Β I have no idea about alcoholism.

There's no chance of @super_ram taking up this challenge.Actually ,apart from Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve,he hasn't drunk that much.

Posted

No chance-if I want a beer I'll have one ,if I don'tΒ  I'll drink something else.

I'm afraid I am not going to make it either I have succombed and had a little tipple. I am definitely cutting down though because I am trying to lose a bit of weight, I've already lost 5lb I gained at Christmas :happy banana:

Β

Ideally I would like to get down to 11st but that is very unlikely, I am 13st at the moment, can't blame the pies at the Lane because I never have one.

@tonyhateley blimey I can only dream back to when I was 13 stone, that was aged 18. Now 17 stone, and before you say owt, its big bones I tell ya.

Posted

Stick to eating lean meat not big bones @PTID1862 :rollonfloorlaughing:

Posted

I'm pretty lucky, I can eat and drink whatever I like and nothing really happens. If I do happen to get a bit of 'phantom pregnancy' going on, it's easily worked off. LOL

How tall are you though? I'm only 5' 10' if you are 17 stone you should be about 7 ft for a correct BMI.
