I was thinking about some of the fads that have come and gone over the years and there are a few that I just never understood why they were so popular. For example, remember when everyone was wearing those rubber band bracelets shaped like animals? Or when fidget spinners were all the rage? I never really got the appeal.

What about you? Are there any fads that you never understood why they were so popular?

when i think of silly fads, i think of people who stream or upload their workouts all the time. something you see every now or then, its fine but every time they go it just becomes vein and pointless. i have seen people do it every day, why? what is so exciting about seeing someone lift weights or use a treadmill?

literally any tik tok trend can be added to this as being a stupid fad.

Guilty as charged @liampie :joker:

@Fan of Big Tone I think @liampie means record as video and share it onto social media.

@Joe Jones went through a phase where he would put on his Instagram regular videos of his weight training journey. I personally think when it's being done for self-improvement and to be healthier than it's not something I turn my nose up at. Some of his videos were quite boring, as I couldn't watch them and go, oh isn't this great. Yet from a personal point of view I did think it was good he had something to focus on. There are people on Instagram/Facebook that record boring workout videos, either to kick off because someone glances towards them for a second or solely because they want attention for looking good.

Those are the fads I hate. People who have to record everything is another fad that I have found quite annoying.

Figit spinners I understand, I didn't at first, but it's a simple toy that keeps people quiet.

I used to collect pogs as a kid, that was a fad that people didn't get but I thought it was fun.

Oh yes of course, I got the wrong end of the stick. I’ve never video’d myself running I don’t think people would want to see an old fart like me trotting around. 😂

Monster in my pocket. They were little plastic monsters that you put in your pocket. That's it, that's all there was to them.

Or trolls. Basically the same, but bigger and with hair.

They were cool collectables. My brother had the display piece which was the mountain, and he had every single one of them. I had the majority too.

I also collected the monster wrestlers that were out in the 90s.

Instead of wrestling though, I played football with them. 😛

Deeley boppers from the 1980's.Basically a headband with 2 springy antennae sticking up with silly decorations attached.I could never understand why a young kid would want to make themselves look like some kind of insect or an alien. They were very popular though.

The Air Up fad makes me laugh. I get that it’s amazing how there’s no flavour to water and the pods allow you to mix flavours, but the number of people who use them as a prop or wave the bottles in your face, as if to say “look at my special cup, my water’s better than yours,” is just laughable.
