Best Notts memory...

After the thread regarding the Sir Charlie Palmer Day, it got me to thinking of the other great days I've had as a Notts fan. We obviously have a range of ages across the board so it'll be interesting (unless this thread exists elsewhere and I've just missed it!) to see who gives their favourite memory and for what reasons.

 

For me I think it would be Don O'Rio scoring against Spurs at White Hart Lane. It was slap bang in the middle of my 'back of a transit' era when we all used to just pile in to the back of an old works van and hope someone knew the way there. Wembley visits etc...great times, but for me when he hit that ball so sweetly it was pure class. To see the look on the Spurs players faces, especially Gasgoine, was superb.

 

Even better, I was on the tv when they replayed it on the box, jumping up and down like a looney behind the goal.

My best Notts memory was seeing Tony Hateley return home against Northampton in front of 21,000 in the 4th division.

Going to the old Wembley with my Grandfather and Brother, very special memories for me. I was very excited, even though people would tell me 'we won't win' (not my Grandfather - Just general people who knew him).

I can remember him driving once, then a time we received a lift off another family relative but the coach was something!

The movie was Sister Act! I can remember being glued watching it and the feeling of the game, it was impressive. I can remember how cold the wind felt and how my Grandfather would hug me and even give me his coat to keep warm. The best thing was when we scored, he lifted me proudly into the air (like I was the F.A Cup) and it was just so special.

When we won the Anglo Italian Cup, my Grandfather pretty spent all the money he had buying my brother and I merchandise. He was very mindful of remembering these moments but despite the fact as a youngster I loved the merchandise, it's the memory of being with him and the photographs he took of the day.

I really need to try and dig them out.

it will sound bad but when we won league two, it was amazing.

going on the pitch and just seeing how whole fan base happy, before that we was stuck in relegation scraps and only the year we survived by was richard butchers goal? can compare.

What year was it when we had the good cup run under Jimmy? That was a fun year for me, I felt we might actually go all the way. I have been lucky enough to witness many magical notts moments, to outweigh the best its hard but the year we did well in the league and cup, that was something!

Promotion under Allardyce, although I was too scared as a little kid to run on the pitch.

 

The goal against Man City is something I'll always remember too. My celebration caused the guy next to me to bleed.

I don't think you'll want me to recall my best Notts memory as it was at the Baseball Ground.I don't want you all falling out with me.I'll just say Notts played very well despite the score.

Torquay away on the final day of the 2009/10 season. The most boring football match ever but nobody was too interested  in the game, it was just one massive party. About 1800 pies taking over sleepy old Torquay for the weekend. The pitch invasion at the end, Torquay fans celebrating staying up, joining in with a mass "Let's all do the Hughsey". I'll never forget it

As a huge Tommy Johnson fan one of best memories was the first ever game i went was county v blackburn we went 1-0 in the first half but Tommy Johnson scored a hat trick in the goal i was sat behind. After scoring he celebrated right in from of where i  was standing in the crowd before he went back he shook my hand. Which was the best game ever.

My most memorable away game was in the early 80s,when we won 5-1 at cov,went to the game with cov fans who gave me loads of stick before the game, very subdued after though. Great memories coyp

You must have been Right next to me then. I Was 10 years old and behind the goal. When that went in i got Crushed but i didn't care it was Glorious and will remain with me for a long time. If i can find it i'll see if can Snapshot MOTD as you can see me on the camera LOL

What I would give for a midfielder like Don O'R or even better Paul Harding at the moment. He would have sorted out the Shrewsbury midfield no probs!
