Typical newspaper scaremongering with sensationalised headlines, what’s the betting it’s just either a light flurry or just sleet.

I’m ready to eat my hat if Nottingham is cut off with a 15 hour snow storm and no power.

Agree @Fan of Big Tone... This Express quote from their piece "Open your curtains during the day, when it’s light, and close them again when darkness falls."

Obviously Daily Express readers need to be reminded of the basics :rollonfloorlaughing:

Well let's hope that the snow doesn't get as far as Notts. Even if it doesn't, someone's area may get it bad. I just hope that there aren't any power cuts with the extra demand on the grid.

If the Daily Express warns of the incoming apocalypse, this usually means it'll be a bit cold for a few days so don't wear your shorts. It's staying below 3 degrees for a few days though, so we could well see some snow.

The UK main stream media are fascinating in a way. Even before the internet existed, they've conducted click bait nonsense of dire warnings in winter that it might get cold and in the summer catastrophic predictions that it might be warmer than winter.

The thing is these sort of headlines sell papers or generate clicks so they can display their adverts that pop up all over the place.

I never click on a Nottingham Post link or Nottingham live the stories are so hard to read while adverts are popping up and if you do manage to negotiate your way round the ads the stories aren’t worth reading anyway.

Unlike some Brits, I don't fear snow or power cuts.

The last time I experienced a power cut in Winter was due to my idiot neighbours using a power tool in their garage, which tripped the electricity for about 6 houses. Whilst my children all freaked out, I happily sat with them in the living room playing Samsung's default ringtone - which has since been renamed "Powercut Music" by my family. I don't like silence due to years of issues formerly with noise. It's something I am only starting to get over, as once I couldn't hear silence without feeling triggered.

If we are hit with a bad storm, the UK media will turn it into something bigger than it is. We never really have it all that bad; it's the coldness which I am more worried about. The change has already hit me with six, and I do believe it has impacted my mental health too.

It's snowing quite heavily here, at first it settled and then turned wet. Yet, it's persisting and we have a nice covering of snow. I wouldn't say it's all that deep yet, but if it continues we could.

It's 05:30 in the morning. It looks like it's stopped snowing. We have a covering of about 2.5 to 3  inches here. The grass is completely covered. Snow on the trees. It looks a picture postcard.

Woke at 4AM (I’m at that age) to find around 4 inch of snow had settled, since then it has stopped snowing and has already thawed a little. Dogs won’t be happy as it will make their favourite walk impassable.

Update.

The Notts B Team game against Mansfield has been called off this morning due to the snow.

I don't think we'll need to worry about power cuts, nothing beyond temporary. I mean, the snow has mostly melted where I am. I have seen pictures of Nottingham, and it seems to have had a bit more snow, but the streets look mostly back to normal. Doesn't anyone actually like a nice snowy Christmas? I agree, papers love to panic people because it sells.
