do you think jatta will be sold?

i am not trying to spread any of the rumours, but i am curious as to if people think jatta might end up being sold before this season gets underway?

there has been comments on social media that doncaster are interested, others have said plymouth are still interested. notts would have learned that selling the main goal scorer surely costs the club with its ambitions and would try to hold onto him? i dont think we have a ready replacement, mai traore still looked like he needs time and matthew dennis does not look like someone who will be pushed to be our main striker.

im not trying to worry anyone, i just think it would be interesting to see thoughts on this?

I don’t think we’ll sell Alassana Jatta just yet. I doubt Doncaster Rovers could afford to spend so much on a single player, and is goal scoring really their biggest concern? He might leave at the end of next season, but right now, I don’t see him going anywhere.

With David McGoldrick gone, Notts can’t afford to take risks with our star striker.

I think you’re right, @liampie . Losing Alassana Jatta before a new campaign, combined with delays in appointing a head coach, wouldn’t be good business for Notts. I wouldn’t speculate on how much we’d want for Jatta, but he’s surely worth more to us on the pitch. The club will have learned from losing Macaulay Langstaff.

He’s a vital part of our squad now, and Β£500,000 wouldn’t be enough to change their minds.

What a disaster it would be if Jatta were sold. Fans aren’t completely satisfied with the new arrivals, and while it’s still early days, losing such a key part of our setup would be a real setback.

There will be plenty of rumours, but I won’t believe any without solid proof. So far, we’ve managed to keep hold of our players, and that’s exactly how it should be until next January.

I understand that the club needs to sell at times to reinvest in the squad, but the timing has to be right.

I agree that Jatta won't be sold during this transfer window. I think that the owners have already built the team around him to a certain extent, & with Didzy going, if Jatta was sold, it would weaken the Notts attack in a big way.

I also think that his value may have come down since last Xmas when speculation about him being transferred was rife. I'm sure the owners would like to see him perform as he did at the beginning of last season & if he did that his value would rise again.

I hope we don’t sell him just yet. I don’t think the club would accept anything other than a big offer, and selling him would mean finding a replacement. I think we might get a good fee for Alassana Jatta at some stage, but with Mai Traore, we’d be lucky to recoup half of what we spent on him. Jatta is too important a player to let go cheaply.

@Cliftonpie

It appears Jatta has been given a 3 match suspension in addition to the 3 match suspension for the straight red card. He's missed one match, being the 2nd playoff leg against Wimbledon.

So it looks like he will miss the first 5 matches of the new season.

I think the way the brothers work would suggest if the right offer came in they would sell. They sold Langstaff and Crowley. The risk is if you don’t get a good replacement the team will suffer. The question would be will Dennis, Traore and Kouhyar get the goals we need to challenge for promotion or will we need a big signing.

Without a new striker coming in, I’m unsure where we’d get the goals that Alassana Jatta provides. His ability to hold up play and make a nuisance of himself is something we’d miss. A good offer might tempt the club, but it should lead to reinvestment. I hope we secure a few more players who can help with scoring goals.

I can't believe he got a 6 match ban for that! Seems way too harsh it was all handbags stuff after the challenge. Threatening behaviour, really? Are the Wimbledon players children or something? Are we sure it's not just clarifying it's a 3 match ban, surely they would've said additional 3 matches? It's slightly ambiguous wording to me or at least that's what I'm hoping!

Anyway, back to the original question I don't think the club would want to sell him but as we've found out with Macca and Crowley if a club comes in with a price that they think more than matches or excels their valuation of him then he could well be sold. And it also depends a bit on which club comes in for him, if it was a Championship club or a club from a top tier league in another county, Jatta himself might feel it's an opportunity to good to turn down.

If the right offer comes in, I would accept. He didn't seem the same player as he was at the start of the campaign. That offer would have to be between north of 400k.

I think, like quite a few of the players currently at the club, he will improve under a new gaffer and playing in a better system, where he is allowed to run in behind and where our build-up play is played at an intensity quicker than glacial erosion.

Dennis won't be a starter and so, even though I think we still need another striker, if Jatta did leave, it would give us the chance to bring in a more physical option (e.g. Michael Mellon or Freddie Draper) to play alongside a striker in the Langstaff mould.
