Exploring ways to further strengthen the coaching and staff structure

With Notts highlighting their desire to improve the coaching staff and having appointed a Director of Performance and a Head of Coach Development. Does anyone else think it would be good to get someone like Neil Warnock back in a position to offer support to our next head coach?

Obviously, not as the assistant or anything like that, but in a role where he could still enjoy being involved in football but without the hassle of managing.

Someone like Neil could be a big boost in terms of experience and support. Positions like Director of Football or advisor/consultant.

This was mentioned previously last season when Stuart Maynard's assistant and coach left the club. However, the more I think about it, the more I feel it could benefit the club.

I think it’s a sensible idea. It’s always good to have someone involved that the fans admire and respect. He could take on a similar position to what Les Bradd has done for the club. I also agree that Neil Warnock’s experience could be a real asset to whoever takes over as head coach. Even if we go with the Danish Under-21s manager, a bit of support wouldn’t go amiss. I reckon the Reedtz brothers have considered this too, especially after how things played out last season.

It was great when Notts had former players working around the club. It made things feel more connected, and brought a sense of unity that fans really appreciated.

I think the club could make more of the ambassador roles, especially with things like the stadium tours that Les Bradd leads. There’s a real chance to bring fans closer to the club’s history through those experiences.

Of course, there’s a cost to it, but tapping into that sense of nostalgia might actually benefit the club. It could help with events or simply boost the atmosphere on matchdays. If Neil Warnock were to return in some sort of advisory role, I think it could really help whoever ends up becoming the next head coach.

It's a great idea & to be honest I have wanted this to happen for a while. Stuart Maynard could have benefited from an "old head" he could turn to & lean on.

Someone with plenty of EFL experience, who has seen great success as well as the occasional down turn, would be absolutely ideal.

Notts already have a Head of Football but he lacks EFL experience too, so someone to come in as say, a Director of Football would be ideal.

Neil Warnock has been suggested or even Luke Williams, but Luke might not be attracted to that sort of role. He might if it's a Team Manager role.

Neil Warnock would be a great help to Notts in any role. He could give advice and keep an eye on the academy, helping to prepare young players for the first team. His experience and support would be valuable, especially in guiding and motivating others.

He’s a strong personality and would be a good person to have around the club. If he could act as a link between the youth setup and the senior squad, sharing his knowledge along the way, I think it would only make Notts stronger.

I like the idea, but not sure Neil Warnock is on the the brothers radar (no pun intended). However an experienced director of football (head of recruitment being a separate role) could work.

You get the feeling something similar is taking shape. If the coach can improve the likes of Jarvis, Grant, Hinchy etc and help them reach the next level, then I think we could be in business.

I think the money could be better spent to be honest, especially if their job is basically to offer out a bit of advice here and there.

I struggle to think on a day-to-day basis what would they actually be doing if they weren’t involved in the coaching? And what would happen if the head coach didn’t like the suggestions from the football advisor, would they have to basically do as they say?

I get the idea and wouldn’t be totally against it if it’s not a wasted wage. I just think actually having a more experienced No.2/First-team coach would be a more effective way of solving this problem.

Does the club really need someone as experienced as Neil Warnock involved in any role? His wages could probably be put to better use elsewhere in the club. That said, I’m not totally against the idea. It might turn out well, but there are still a lot of unknowns at the moment.

I would have thought the club would focus on strengthening the coaching team before looking at anything like this.

Neil Warnock is very much a manager of the past which I do think that it's best kept that way. The best way that we progress, even if we do get a manager which we're not all happy with (Paterson anyone?) then if they back him up with a decent backroom (but not dedicated to the coach - more to the club and the cause). I think if we have an assistant, first team coaches etc, that may or may not have a link to the club then that puts us in a decent position.
