So rumour is that Jatta's agent wants him out of Notts and in turn gets a nice percentage of that transfer fee.

Pretty straight forward? The real issue is that we have our best striker out of contract next summer. If we turn down offers, likelyhood is he'll go on a free. If he gets us up, he'll likely go someone in the Championship or to a top league somewhere out of the top five leagues in Europe.

If we don't he'll still go somewhere, maybe not as prestigious.

Now we all know that there is that golden figure players can be sold for and in this sense, makes it quite easy to say that if he had two years and starts off bagging like he did at the beginning of last season, we'd be looking at a mil and above. Alas, he's got a year left and can start talking to clubs in Jan, meaning even if we agree to keep him and miss out on the money, his head could be turned in Jan and his form could drop off.

It's probably quite easy to say where we fall as fans, as to say "lets get promoted and deal with him leaving when it happens", but things feel ever so slightly off with finances this summer, so who's to say what their golden figure is and if he's sold, what percentage of that fee gets reinvested into a new striker.

Where does everyone stand?

If he did go and that is a big if for say £500K, then I think Notts need to get another two strikers in with that £500K.

I do think that Notts have been out flanked by most of the league 2 sides this season, & to sell Jatta at this very late stage, would I'm sure, make a lot of the fanbase unhappy unless the Reedtz brothers quickly make a move in the market.

Problem is, I would say that the vast majority, if not all of the very best strikers have been taken unfortunately. I hope that the rumours are not true & Notts can get Jatta to sign a new extended contract.

I think £500,000 is too low for a player who has proven himself in League Two. His value should be closer to £800,000 or even £1,200,000. If the rumours about his agent are true, then he’ll likely need to be sold. Otherwise, Jatta should think about changing his agent.

With his contract running down, we need to either extend it or sell him. Letting it run out helps no one.

Selling good players isn’t ideal, but losing them for nothing is worse. Some fans might complain now, but they’d be even more unhappy if he left for free.

I really like Jatta, he’s shown again this late pre-season if you get him in on goal he’ll score. I’d hope he stays but as he’s now in his last year there is that dilemma of losing a very good player and getting nothing in return. In a dream world he signs a new contract with a release clause fee so everyone is happy.

If he was to move I think we’d have to pretty much have agreed a deal for a new striker and I’d even communicate that to the fans in Jatta’s leaving announcement. The last thing we need is total silence and then to be chasing players around on the last day of the window.

There was a Rumour around January that A.J. was on the move, and several clubs were interested in him. Numbers were quoted between £5 to £7 Hundred Thousand. and if those Rumours were true, it could be they started playing on Jatta's mind, hence his form falling off a Cliff after January last season. He probably wasn't Helped if his Agent was always on at him to Move away from the Lane. Notts need to offer him a New Extended Contract Now, and if he refuses to sign it, then Sell Him because has it's been stated, Yes it would be awful to lose him, but better Sell Him Now when Notts could get money for him, than wait until he leaves on a Free.

Alassana Jatta if he doesn't commit to a new contract, will need to be sold for the highest fee. Unfortunately, clubs pay a premium for a player under contract, and if his agent is any good at his job, he will encourage Jatta to sign a new deal with a sell-on clause.

If the agent wants to use Jatta as a payday, while furthering his client's deal and career, he will want him to move to a club willing to pay a higher transfer fee.

While a club may offer higher wages and generous agent fees, there are additional factors to consider when evaluating fee structures. Free agents generally involve lower signing fees, whereas transfers represent substantial financial opportunities in the market.

If he's going, we might as well let him, but the fee needs to bring in a replacement when he leaves.

Losing him on a free would be disappointing when we paid good money to bring him here.

As others have said personally I would try and get him to sign a new contract if he doesn’t want to sign then sell him, it would be disappointing to lose him but worse if he goes for nowt.

Committing him to a new contract is a must.

Any fee of say EUR 750k, we should sell but importantly knowing we have replacements lined up...or use some of the money to bring back Macca ( say pay 3/4 of Millwall's wages)

I think yesterdays game shows just how important Jatta is to us. If we sell him, I can't see how we would get a ready made replacement before the window shuts. Well certainly not without a fee involved. We watch with interest!

There is no one bigger than the Club, and although Jatta is a reasonable goal scorer, he's not the problem. Greedy agents are nowadays ruining football and that is a crying shame.

Surely the Club has realised the situation and have something in place to counteract that possibility. 🙏

Let's hope that over the next 4 games either someone steps up to the plate or is brought in to remedy our attacking deficiencies. 👌🤔

Agree, no one is bigger than the club. With the McGoldrick transfer, it would seem the owners also agree!

I agree no player is bigger than the Club.

Don Masson, a Notts County Icon & voted by the fans as our best ever player, was sold to QPR for £100,000 in 1974. Due to inflation that would equate to £1,331,867 now. Every player has his price.

Significantly undersold as regards his true worth at the time. The QPR owner was Jack Dunnett's brother-in-law

i know the board have dismissed that we are a moneyball club, but that is what it sounded like when they first arrived and there is nothing wrong with it. complaining we are selling players, and denying the club is in better shape or is making any form of progress. it just makes me wonder what those types of fans thought when we were losing players as free agents. players can see its a difficult league and the only way we can get better is through investment.

selling jatta eventually would be a smart move, but a replacement is needed and we need to get him to sign a new deal even if its just two years.

i do worry about him walking away on a free, but i hope his connection to the fans and the opportunity we have given him comes through. his agent might want to make a quick buck, but jatta needs to be the decision maker.

I remember being distraught when “The King” left, I couldn’t elieve they sold him but we survived, I agree no one is bigger than the club.

I was scrolling through a Notts photographer's gallery; he took pictures of the players preparing to go out from under the stands and onto the pitch. Alassana Jatta stood out the most with how friendly he looked; I don't think his agent will turn his head.

If he decides it is his time to move on, I fully believe it will be his decision.

Offering him a new deal, ideally seeing it get signed, should give us some confidence, but at the same time that might just be in the fee we can attract for him. We do have to allow players to leave if it's best for them, and if the money reflects that. All we can hope is that a player can be identified. I was apprehensive about the possibility of losing Kyle Wootton, but we managed to secure the signing of Macaulay Langstaff.

When we signed Wes Thomas, that was a signing that gave me hope that the club could identify goalscorers and bring them to the team. Even prior to Kristian Dennis, Kane Hemmings, and Jon Stead, we hoped that young strikers could be signed. It seems something we are far more capable of doing while avoiding the older legs that are nearing retirement.
