Where are they now : Jack McMillan

Featured Replies

Didn't he last join a Non-League side? I’m guessing he’s not playing anymore and this is now his full-time job.

It’s always sad when a young player’s career doesn’t go the way it looked like it might. Signing for Liverpool would have been a huge moment, and being let go must have been hard to take.

Still, he’s found something he cares about and seems happy doing it. That’s a good thing. Even so, it’s a real shame for football to lose that kind of promise.

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!

Good luck to him. He seems happy and clearly cares about what he's doing. His journey in football might have started with playing, but coaching could be where he truly belongs. He’s still young, so if he wants to return to playing, that door isn't closed. Even so, coaching gives him a chance to grow in a different way, and it might lead to new opportunities he hadn't considered before.

I thought he had signed for a team in the Non-League myself?

I remember talk of @Piethagoram hoping Jack would come back to Notts, and talks of him having gained a good level of experience whilst being in Liverpool's academy, but I can't find anything on him searching Google.

For anyone who loves playing football, finding any way of staying involved in the game usually helps fill that void. I agree, it's good that he has found alternative employment, and I wish him well. It's always interesting to see how different people take different routes in football, and perhaps Jack McMillan just wanted to give something back?

A field where dreams become reality.

It could be seen as a reminder that joining a club like that might not be the best choice for a young player’s career. Sometimes the move doesn’t lead to the chances they hoped for.

Still, with how Notts struggles to give its young pros a proper chance, I would have taken it. Spending years training at Liverpool would have been a brilliant experience either way.

Yes, I recall you sharing that he had been released.

I do remember discussions about bringing him back to Notts, and I thought someone had said he signed for someone in the Non-League. It could have been a Nelson Mandela effect mind.

It is good to see what he is doing now. The video does not show much of the actual work, but it still gives a useful glimpse into what he is involved in. Best of luck to him.

I do wish him luck in his new job. It's nice to see footballers switch to other careers and make a success of it.
