When Bart was rumoured to be leaving, I like many fans couldn't believe it. I highly rate Bart both for his football skills and for the way he was around the club. However, this was posted on PoN's page around the time of the Preston game - "Having seen Roy Carroll is anyone bothered that Bart left to go to Ipswich. were he appears to be 2nd choice to a gherkin. Is playing not important or has he gone to get free tractor driving lessons."

Haha....

Interestingly I do keep hearing similar comments. I for one, I'm not bothered now but I am so pleased that we signed an experienced keeper.

So, simple question. Roy or Bart? In the words of Harry Hill... FIGHT! ;)

i think bart can go further, he can still learn a lot but not playing wont help him with that. i think leaving to go to ipswich was a mistake, i think he should have waited. roy is a better class of keeper, his experience is amazing but this comes with age.

i would have to say and vote for roy.

The personnel may have changed but the story remains the same, only for having a decent goalkeeper, we'd be in serious trouble. Bart dug us out a hole so many times and Roy is doing the same.

Very fair comment, if only we could get the quality together so that Fabs didn't have the type of pressure we see in games.

Both of them got us through alot. Bart was a great goalkeeper on the pitch and a great person off. He was great with fans. Both of them have experience and when there was rumours he was leaving i was hoping he wasn't. Roy has more experience as you'd expect and he controls and manages the defense very well too.

I've voted for Bart purely for the long term prospects, Roy is a great keeper but getting on a bit now.

I wish he would stop the blatant time wasting tactics as well, I pay to watch a game of football not to see Roy tie up his gloves for the umpteenth time.

I see no reason why Roy can't play until he's 40, I am very hopeful he can retain his fitness and ability to manage that. I quite fancy him being the keeper who manages to help gain us promotion. Bart is a great keeper, certainly too good for the bench.

He he... A lot of keepers time waste, I know a lot worse. Roy takes the sting out of games by doing this, he's very good at knowing when he can and can't time waste. Bart used to do it, yet he was rather obvious and the majority of cards shown as a direct result. Only keeper in the last 5 years I've seen keen to get on with play is young Fabs.

A difficult choice

Roy has been a fantastic keeper and played for some top sides, you do not get that opportunity unless you are right on top of your game, there are the odd exception of course Massimo Taibi, crikey even thinking about him gave me the willy's... how the hell did he get a wage out of Man U.

Bart, young, full of promise, but has now gone sideways, moving on to a higher club is only beneficial if you are playing games... no game time will mean his reactions will diminish.

We currently have the joint best defensive record in the football league, Roy takes his share of the credit for this... and I believe he may will end up taking not only the pot for Bargain of the season... signing of the season... but also player of the season.
