Well its January we sit 12th in league 1 31 points however only 5 points from the play off i think the play offs are not to much to ask as it stands. We have had some bad results but i think we are starting to show some form not always great. But carol is making a difference and think if we secure play offs he is the key.

I think it will take a lot, we still could provided we went on another run and kept plugging a way but I do think the dream is over.

That's fine though, we all said we would accept mid table and for me I just hope we can finish as high as possible. Then in the close season rebuild and put together a squad to challenge to finish higher than we do this season, working at eventually obtaining a squad which the core have been here for more than two/three seasons. I would love us to progress quicker, just like anyone but I just don't think we will without the budget/gates increasing.

I sort of worry about us settling for mid table, only to see the budget suffer even further and crowds become lower. In result it pushes from being a 'League One' team to a 'Lower League One' team to 'Top End League Two'.

I think under Derry we will always be good enough to avoid the drop but focus must be on steady progress.

Also, I don't blame for wanting to have something to dream about. It would have had its rewards in optimism for the club.

if the squad can recompose themselves and derry sorts the tactics out buy signing players within this window maybe.

like @notts-joe i have come to think that we will just contend with finishing as high as possible, there is nothing wrong with mid table and that is a respectable finish for us. i dont we will get back into the play-offs again this season but we might get near to them.

One word. No. The squad we have at present is a million miles off the standard required for promotion. SD has performed a minor miracle to have us in the top half. We will slowly fade away and finish in and around mid table which is more than acceptable.

It's possible but unlikely.

It is possible we could scrape the play offs but then we would be up against one of the stronger sides, although a trip to Wembley would be nice.

Ultimately though the team is way off championship standard so we would be truly embarrassed there. A solid mid/top half table finish would be an improvement on last year and something to build on. I think SD is trying to build something here so we need to be patient this season, as long as were not being hammered every week im happy to chant his name.

What a stupid, laughable question, I can't believe I'm giving this ridiculous post the dignity of a response.

Of course we're going to win promotion. But, as a natural pessimist, I feel first place and the FA Cup might be just beyond us now unless we seriously buck our ideas up.

If the new signings continue to work hard for us and things work, we could.

There will be a lot of tests, this saturday will be one. If we cant beat a struggling peterborough united, then the question may be a no after all but there is always that chance.

I know quite a few fans felt last Saturday's game against Peterborough would be a clear sign to our ability to gain promotion, it seems also that Derry has restored belief of 'realism' since January's been kind to both us and him. Yet I don't think we can say that it's over or it's going to happen/might. I think we will need to see how things progress in the next 3-6 games.

The squad needs to settle, I did see positive signs from from the front pair.

Promotion isn't everything, though it would be nice if we could give it a shot and play good attractive football.
