... if we lose tonight?

We've lost something like 7 out of our last 8 at home, five of our last 6 overall, and a defeat at Colchester would be our fourth consecutive defeat. To put it into perspective:

Our record on 25 October: Played 12, W7 D5 L2 - points 26, or 2.2 per game

Our record since then: Played 18, W3 D3 L12 - points 12, or 0.6 per game

Of course we were never going to keep up our early season form, we had quite a few fortunate results. However, we have had clear relegation form over nearly half a season, and if we continue this form over the remaining 14 games we will be relegated on 47 points.

I don't want to see SD go, I want to see him turn it around. However, managers have been dismissed for less, and if we lose tonight I wouldn't be surprised to see him handed his P45.

What do you think?

No, he should see this through. I said it last season relegation might not be a bad thing, it might allow us to rebuild properly and give him extra time. That said, I don't want to see us in League Two and despite his obvious flaws under pressure, it's just that! We should stick with him, so he will have my support.

No, I don't think he'll be sacked even if we are relegated I think Mr Trew will for once stick with him come what may for the whole season and into next.

I blame the club for extending his stay, he just seems to be taking us for granted now. I'm half serious, half messing around.

I don't think we should sack him. A change of manager doesn't always bring an instant change in results, sometimes it demoralises the team. Look at what happened to us after Keith Curle was sacked. SD has earned his chance, and I hope he can turn it around. But I'm not sure Ray Trew will stand by and watch us slide into the relegation zone. On the other hand, wouldn't it be a terrible irony if the season we finally stuck to our guns and stood by the manager turns out to be the season we go down ...

Now I think I'd better cheer you all up. Colchester have the second worst home record, and we're the eighth best team away (having lost just 4 out of 16 matches away). While we are absolutely shocking against teams in the top half, having won just once in 19 attempts, we are the flat track bullies and have the best record in the league against teams from the bottom half. Maybe the turnaround is just around the corner?

After the interview with the BBC, I would advise any of the board members to stand firm and avoid being pressured into sacking him. The only way I see it happening is if they're given no chance with fans staying a way and that is an horrible way to be sacked. I personally think we'll be fine, I mean it's currently terrible in terms of form but it's not like we are totally out of games.

There's progress, so we need to be careful and the players need to protect their manager!

no, sacking him would be the most pointless thing.

he just needs to work harder to turn this around and we need a bit of luck, if the two combined and he settles down we will be fine.

If Derry gets sacked if we do enter the relegation zone or end up relegated, i will just stop going going because it will be my final straw. You cannot sack managers like boards do in the modern game, every hes work for might be up in smoke right now but we need to take this on the chin. Whatever happens the club will still continue, so there is little to complain about for me.

He does not deserve to be sacked at all.

Well we won, I suppose he will do until we can talk Fergie into coming out of retirement.

@DangerousSausage Will he be knighted again if we get 7 or more points from the next 3 games? I am PLEASED FOR DERRY.

My question was "Will Derry be sacked" not "Should Derry be sacked", and a defeat last night would have put him in a shaky position looking at our record. IMO he's made mistakes, but sacking him would only ensure the slide continues. Delighted at the win last night, hope we can follow it up on Saturday to take the pressure off!

The tactics and the choice of player to meet that formation are the only thing still in question imo. The players need to step it up and when the goals go in we should be ok.

Nothing to be gained by changing the duo a the top, especially if they can keep getting the team to create as many chances.

I still think SD and GA need to sort out the free kick and corner situation though. Dire. We waste them every time!

Tactics are easier with better players, plus it helps when you get it wrong. Derry is no different, he just needs time. By avoiding the drop this season it will be another achievement and provided he does, so will remaining in charge come the end of the season.

He should not be sacked.

No, he shouldn't be sacked.Notts are a work in progress.I don't think this season was ever about promotion but more a season for SD and GA to consolidate and prepare for next season.
