Old school footballers

Today football is full of Jordans and Jermaines with their fancy tricks, stepovers and fancy haircuts. But it wasn't always this way. Football was once a game for real men. Men who would have looked just as at home in a working man's club as on a football pitch.

This is a place to celebrate them. And not just from Notts, but from all clubs.

Number one. Malcolm Shotton.

As a kid, I always admired this guy who seemed to be a lower league gem. Can anyone name him?

I can see Malcolm Shotton's Wang!

There's a page on Facebook called chinny football, full of brilliant old panini stickers.

I never understood why Stuart Pearce received the "psycho" nickname when this guy existed.

I remember Mariner and Brazil making absolute fools of us down at the lane in 82?

Mick Quinn. An old school footballer playing for an old school top flight club. Note the lean physique and the tasteful home shirt Coventry were sporting back then.

Looks kinda like..... now where have I seen that shirt recently.... hmmm

I was just thinking about which moustachioed former footballer would be worthy of inclusion in this elite band of old school footballers. The answer surely has to be one of our own.
