Mansfield Town

I've been keeping an eye on their signings, and to be fair they've made some decent signings.Β

Just signed Krystian Pearce, rumoured for Ben Davies and of course signed Matty Green and Westcarr. It could be a decent season for them.Β

Pearce could be a very decent signing if they somehow manage to sort out his concentration. If he didn't spend so much time counting butterflies or whatever he does when he switches off, he could still have a very decent career. I can remember when he was with us, someone said something along the lines of 'for 85 minutes per game, he's one of the best players on the park, then for 5 minutes at least, he totally switches off, practically scoring them a couple of goals, and loses the game for us'. Hopefully they can nail down this issue, and he'll do very well for them.

Davies would be another good signing for them, although Pompy seem to be interested and you would assume he'd chose them over Mansfield, no disrespect intended. He's knocking on a bit now, but his set piece delivery alone will score them a few points in the league. Earlier on in the transfer window I thought he would've been a good signing for us, I still think he would be, but maybe would be a bit overkill in the middle of the park, Moniz wouldn't want him on the wing (never had pace - he's now older).

Green is gonna be hit or miss. He's scored 1 goal in the league, and spent last 2 years out injured. If he can come back close to the player he was, he could be a real goalscoring menace in this league.Β

Westcarr is still only 30. When he was with us, a lot of people complained about him being lazy. If you take a look back at that trophy winning season, especially in the second half of it, Westcarr plays very well. Some of his balls into the box are delightful.

I've had a flick through their forums and some of them are.... well, bitter about us, or deluded. However, I wish them a very good season (except when they play us of course), it wasn't that great seeing them in the conference.

At this rate I'm going to be chairing the @Super_Danny_Allsopp appreciation society as every post I read I agree with!!!

Mansfield are, going on their signings, in for a good season. Maybe not playoffs, but solid progress for them.

What a fantastic post that is SDA. You've clearly done your homework and put together a very informative & structured post. Can't find anything to disagree with in there either. Nice one.

If Ben Davies signed for Portsmouth, this would totally disregard his comments about wanting to stay local after requesting to leave meadow lane.

Mansfield are doing well, yet I do not think they should get carried a way. I have noticed some stags on facebook declaring how this squad will get them to the championship, all at the same time suggesting their existing manager is not good enough. I fail to see how it works, yet I would always wish them well.

There's a bloke (Notts fan) on their forum fishing for responses, and he's getting plenty of them.

Any team that has any ambition of finishing higher than 12th, are automatically dismissed as 'Tranmere' and will of course inevitably be destined for the drop, a fate that is branded about for any fan of a team that probably won't be battling relegation. I think they seem to forget that they fell down that trap themselves?

All of our signings are pretty much straight away dismissed as they have no experience of League 2 football, so are therefore useless, and will be kicked off the park by whoever Mansfield have as their CB's (Pearce will have to concentrate first!).Β

Worth a chuckle if you get bored.Β

That's the oneΒ  :lol:Β

I know fans are normally fairly biased towards their own team, but this one takes the biscuit:

Β

Β

Out of all of them I'd only take Milsom *about our signings*

Β

:lol:Β Adam Chapman or Gill Swerts.....Chris Beardsley or Jon Stead...

Β

Β

I've a feeling our local lads and passionate manager will have more fire in their belly than your jouneyman centre forward, foreign nobodies and uninitiated manager.

Have to laugh at this one too.Β

'Foreign nobodies' - Adi Yussuf - Tanzania - no caps, at any level. Β Brian Jensen - Denmark - no caps, age 40. Reggie Lambe - Β Bermuda - HE HAS CAPS! (but for Bermuda - 15)

Β

OR

Roy Carroll - NI - 41 caps (Ongoing)

Gill Swerts - Belgium - 17 caps

Julian Jenner - Holland - 4 caps

Passion Β - WestcarrΒ

Uninitiated manager - they have a complete rookie player manager. (Worked well for us last season!)
