Elliot Hewitt is the first of the Notts players to extend their stay into the upcoming season after signing a new two-year-deal. Elliot has enjoyed spells in the right back position but has also moved further up the field.

How do you feel about him extending his stay? Is the contract length long enough? Let us know your thoughts.

I don't mind that, under Nolan he showed that he could be an asset, rather than the liability he had been previously. Two years is about right, he is at a good age to improve further, so win, win really. I don't think he would have stayed if only offered a 1 year deal.

Pleased with this. A poor right back, but passable cover in central defence and a promising central midfielder. Not the sort to win many MOM awards, but if he carries on improving he could play a positive role next season.

I'd agree with Elite.

He can play at right back, as we have seen him do well but this part of his game needs much work. I hope we convert him into a midfielder, he looks useful and can do neat little crosses which we haven't really seen from any sort of holding midfielder. I actually think Elliot can go far if he applies himself properly.

I think you're being a little harsh. For a large chunk of his Notts career I would agree with you, but these last few games he has shown that he could be an asset. Now whether that is the real Hewitt, or a contract seeking one, remains to be seen.

Hewitt was atrocious at right back, utterly terrible. His ability to get close to his man to prevent a cross was surmount to 0. Β His positioning sense was all over the place, complete headless chicken.

However, he has improved since Nolan came in combined with a position change. I don't buy the argument of versatility, he was below par at CB and awful at RB, just because you've played in those positions doesn't make you particularly useful in them.Β

I think it's positive, he's young and can improve under Nolan.Β

I think he can play in midfield but the question is, can he against good quality opposition?

Not just Hewitt, but many players went missing against Coventry. We didn't play as a unit or team really, not for the most part.
