Notts County ticket prices

So this morning, a fan tweeted to Alan Hardy saying ticket prices to watch the noisy neighbours over the Trent are cheaper than Notts County this month.

Personally, it doesn't bother me. Aside from the fact I wouldn't watch them over the river if the tickets were 20p, £22 has been pretty much the norm now for quite a few years. Hardy's doing promotions and deals now and then, and generally, the whole setup of the club now is such that Notts fans are happy to pay to see good, honest, hard-working football (compared to a year or so ago where you'd be paying £22 to watch Notts lost 4-0 in a toxic atmosphere). But at the same time, it doesn't do anything for the neutrals or the undecided, who can view the matchday experience from a customer point of view.

It doesn't bother me, he's adjusted the prices which previously wasn't even considered. We have to make money as the club is losing it, yet despite this he's happily investing and whilst our supporters base remains quite low - I think we have to accept it.

Changing the prices will only come at a burden at this stage.

Simply it makes no difference to offer cheaper prices, as this doesn't get more fans going - those regulars will pay no matter what. There's got to be a constructive way floating fans and casual supporters can come on board. If we was winning every game, challenging strongly for the League Two title would this make any difference? I think more would attend without complaint personally.

Unfortunately this does bother me. As i am just starting full time work i will be away for 6 months and unable to attend all home games. I love live football so have just bought a ticket to see Derby vs Hull City (Championship) for the same price. This is absolutely disgusting. However i do like to give the club money wherever i can so: Merchandise, Food and Drink and Lifeline. I understand from a business perspective every fan that attends meadow lane will not do this and from Hardy's POV its about making maximum revenue. I paid £16 for a ticket against Stanley, IMO i think it should be around £12.50/£13

Personally I think football is too expensive across the board. It's not like a live concert, which is a one-off event for most of us - there are 23 home games a year. 22 quid is an extremely hard sell for casual fans who decide to watch a match on the spur of the moment. That's why football crowds are now largely made up of the faithful (with the majority having a season ticket) and change relatively little from one week to the next.

I've made the point before that once you take into account ST holders, OAPs and other concessions, aside from away fans relatively few people actually pay the 22 pounds. All it does is put casual fans off.

On the other hand I also understand that unilaterally reducing prices would probably put us at a competitive disadvantage and, by reducing turnover, risk us crossing the wages to turnover limit. That's why I would like to see set maximum prices for each division. The Premier League's 30 pound cap on away ticket prices is a start but not enough.

think we need to be debt free before complaining about the ticket prices, its the same each season. get over it!

The ticket price is always going to be a frank and full on conversion.

On the one hand he has invested in the club and may want some back to re invest it back in. 

County are in league two not championship so if forest (scum) are cheaper I can see the point people make. 

But football is getting expensive people with big family's may not be able to go cause of the price .. it depends on your budget etc some love the game but money is the root of all evil I guess

There's no valid reason for charging 10% extra for a last minute decision to come. It has certainly put me off attending, and not just at Notts.

Spot on @ivansneck if it is 20 quid during the week, it should be the same on the Saturday and not allowing a cash turnstile is just ridiculous! If they don't want to accept cash at the turnstiles, then at least have one in each stand where you can use a debit card cashless payment system. It must put some fans off when they see the size of the ticket office queues.

Can see valid points all around this debate , personally i miss cash turnstiles but it wouldn't be enough to put me off going because we don't have them , the price for me is fine , live entertainment , supporting your team , hopefully with the pricing in place making the club tick over  and be competitive,  not forgetting the money being invested by AH of course.

Perhaps to discourage people from leaving things to the last minute?

Some fans don't really mind the 10% extra, others do - it's a two sided coin situation. Personally I think anything which may reduce the queues on match days should be explored, yet we don't need to put off fans from coming.

Give it a few seasons, hopefully then the prices may fall but first support needs to increase along with the gates.
