Neil Ardley targets strikers

Featured Replies

He has focused far too much on signing defenders, prioritising the wrong position completely.

Notts doesn't have a striker who can hold the ball and aside from Kristian Dennis who always seems to be injured for this club, there is no proven goal scorer in the ranks. Nathan Tyson isn't a 20 goal per season type of player, we will be lucky if he scores 7.

will believe it when i see it, it would not surprise me if ben turner does not end up playing as a striker and two other defenders come in. im hating to say this, i want neal ardley to work but hes too defensive.

no striker signed for this important game either.

just coming out with excuses in the media about every other club looks for the same thing, then why sell kane hemmings? why play him out wide?

Usual Nottingham Post, nothing much to the "update" and they never pressed the manager for a better response. Other than the standard run of the mill crap about every club looking for a striker of the same quality.

I am not sure why we only focused on bringing in Nathan Tyson during the transfer rush we had, don'tΒ get me wrong -Β I actually think Nathan Tyson is a very useful option but as I have started after every game so far this season. Him up as an isolated striker doesn'tΒ give Notts any cutting edge, I honestly believe another striker should have been targeted sooner as the rumours about Kane Hemmings was circulating around well before the pre-season.

Also, I felt that we would lose either him or Kristian Dennis not them both.

Yet with Dennis struggling with injury, I am quite dubious about him returning only to pick up another knock. It's very shortsighted to focus on thinking one up top will work, I think it might be the undoing of Neal Ardley because fans felt Kevin Nolan and Harry Kewell was stubborn, yet Neal is far more defensive than those pair put together.

It would make a real difference right now to switch to two strikers, and capture two quality additions in this department.

I don'tΒ expect another Lee Hughes type striker to join, I think 20 goals per season is a dying trait, but the club could find someone ccapableof chipping in with lets say 10, whilst securing another option that could be good for the future.
