Match Day: Chat Room Feedback

Featured Replies

Posted

As per the e-mail which I have sent out, I am keen to gather feedback from the community.

I realise that some fans might not be interested, however, it's a fun way to discuss the games when you have an active group of people who enjoy each others company. I would like to rekindled the interest which saw it being very popular under @anonypie - a fan who loved to discuss everything black & white with a loyal following which she had built over the years.

Firstly; I did use to promote the chat on social media.

This is something which I would like to try to focus on again, especially, since more fans know some of us behind the PON community.

I'll be encouraging friends to come on board, along with previous users which I am to reach out to personally. More as a gesture to see what has been keeping them away and, what can be done to improve things for them.

If you have any ideas for the match day chat, please discuss below.

You can also express your own interest by commenting or, simply liking my post.

One area I would like to look at, is the ability to include radio coverage directly linked into the chat - I obviously need to check this. However, I have seen other fan sites achieve similar and provided there's interest I will look into the possibility.

Clicked there last night - nobody there.

I haven't had chance to actively reach out, but I did sent a bulk e-mail.

3 members reached out.

It's encouraging, it will be sorted for the new season. If it's just a few of us, it's a good way to bring in people from the outside into our community. If I realised the lack sooner, I would've tried harder before now.

It's a good idea. It's not something I've really taken part in actively before (until recently I've tended to tune in to radio coverage while on the way back from a match here in Germany), but I'd be open to doing it now. I wouldn't be too worried about the FA Trophy match, I think there'll be a lot more interest once the league programme gets up and running.

But the elephant in the room is Facebook. It's such a lot more immediate, and the PON group serves as a ready-made chatroom with hundreds of users without the hassle of logging in. Maybe it'd be better concentrating on that instead?

I am interested, if people come on and talk. It will take some time to rebuild the old group but having a regular, friendly face would help.

Facebook is a good platform for fans to engage and, get to know PON.

I thought about focusing a little bit more on the group, along with setting a schedule for when posts should go out onto the main page. This isn't a lack of time, it's more about me not wanting to use social media right now.

The chat room has never had a clear focus.

When @anonypie led it, she was known by the people who chatted and it was a close knit group. She hoped that some of these would come across into the forum, which sometimes did happen - it's a balancing act. Yet there's areas where I have neglected, which could have been better managed by myself.

Last two fixtures our match chat has returned, it's been really good to have it back, I am hoping to build on from this. It's nice to see some new faces use it @Scott. :D

Can I ask, would anyone be able to fill in as the person who can update it?

I will be hopefully away with my family from Friday, I will be trying to stay in the loop but since we didn't get away in May - this is a lot more important. If @DangerousSausage and @Super_Danny_Allsopp are open to working together, or one leading it - I am sure I can promote, encourage and join in when I can. I just don't think with the live updates that I will be able to commit fully.
