Notts v York - PSF

It's currently HT. 0-2 York.

I can't remember the last time we were so poor. As has  been common in this pre-season, we are again in a diamond and again it isn't working. The build up play is sooooooo sloooooooow, I think a pub teams over 35s will manage to get 11 players back behind the ball before we even get out our own half.

The quality of our passing is shocking. We have not troubled them once, have we even been inside their box?

Get a ******* grip Notts!

0-3 now. Very poor. York look sharp and ready for the season, we look ponderous and generally hungover. Even me leaving the room to tidy up the kitchen in the second half (which was more fun than the game) couldn't produce a goal.

Let's hope we see a very different Notts next weekend.

That was really, really bad.

Negatives: Enzo (usual floating about performance), Sam (absolute tosh, didn't even look like he'd played football before), Knowles (headless chicken). That front 3 is embarrassing. If more than one of them is starting at the same time, I fear for us.

Positives: It was pre-season.

First half was pretty much as bad as it gets. No idea what the formation was, no width, fullbacks barely crossing the halfway line, just passing it (woefully) with no idea what to do with it… Second half was a slight improvement, but they’d have been hard pressed to play any worse.

Sam looked so far off it for me which is worrying, and not just fitness wise.

Like you say the only positive was that result counts for nothing. You’d have to say there’s still a lot to work on with our first game fast approaching now. Am I looking forward to Dover? Not so sure after watching that!

Neal Ardley has spoken sense in his post match interviews, so I think he will adapt. The diamond formation doesn't work, but every fan will think this. If Ardley persists with it, its him it will cost the most. It make work itself out with time and competitive games.

Notts have looked good enough against teams near our level.

Only exception was York who looked like a team everything Notts should be.

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!

I didn't watch the game, but I had a bad feeling that with some of the comments that I had read leading into the match that it would end in defeat. I don't really get the diamond formation, if it doesn't work - it needs scrapping.

Pre-season being over, it's all about the league.

A field where dreams become reality.

I agree it's all about the league and what happens from now. Can't get over excited at friendlies , the league is what matters, I feel promotion is a must this season, or we could be down here for a long time

There will be nerves heading into the season, I would put York down to that somewhat. I feel we need to wait to see what happens, just remember Notts started slow last season. Form isn't something every team can just pick up, we have a lot from last season but also many more new faces.

It was a very poor game, notts did not look like they was at the races against york. i expect ardley to get better from them in the opening games. lets try not to panic, those already on ardleys back are out of line.

Some of the results and performance will ground the expectations a little, pre season is not a stage to worry. Majority of signings have gone down well, more time is needed.
