  1. Jodi Jones gets my vote because he was all over Bromley. He played exceptionally well and, after the two early goals conceded, he lifted his own performance to help turn things around for Notts. He helped others play to their best, but he was already in the zone before most.
  2. You balance your assets in football. We lost Kyle Wootton because he wanted League Football and we failed to gain promotion. It doesn’t seem like that with Jodi Jones. It feels like the club is moving and progressing with the squad. It feels like everyone is committed and patient about achieving promotion to League One. It’s going to be a fight, but with four spaces, it’s doable. I think we have a much better chance of staying up when this happens with Jodi in our ranks. It makes a change that we are retaining players and not having to rebuild every season. Jodi will see this, as I am sure Coventry kept most of their players and improved around them. So, I am delighted with his decision to commit.
  3. I would have liked to see Matt Palmer start. He’s such a good guy and speaks well. I like his attitude and think he’s perfect to be one of the leaders on the pitch. David McGoldrick has done well during Palmer’s absence, but I think Palmer is the right choice to take over. He’s a quality midfielder who plays extremely well in our system. When he’s out, like last season, we feel the loss. We’ve signed good players to fill in and do something different, which takes the pressure off Palmer, but he’s first-team material every day of the week. I hope his fitness continues to improve so we can see him get regular minutes. He’s such a vital cog in this Notts County team that he can impact the players around him even without the armband.
  4. Alex Bass looked very frustrated after we conceded early. I don’t think we had much of a grip on the expectations of how the ball would be played across such a dry pitch. Maynard mentioned the longer grass, but I am pleased this wasn’t used as an excuse to explain defeat but more highlighted as a reason behind a difficult start. The way our players pulled themselves together was very impressive. Jodi Jones and Dan Crowley really linked together to help put us back into the game. It was also great to see Matt Palmer starting. He and David McGoldrick offered calmness, which made our play exciting to watch. It was the best away game I have been to!
  5. Sheffield Wednesday 2-2 QPR Swansea City 1-2 Norwich City Bolton Wanderers 3-0 Huddersfield Town Rotherham United 2-0 Burton Albion Carlisle United 0-2 Fleetwood Town Port Vale 1-2 Chesterfield Joker ???? Southend United 1-3 Sutton United Tamworth 1-1 Maidenhead United
  6. It’s brilliant for Notts and Meadow Lane. The ground is looking better than it ever has. I like all the neat touches, from the new signs to the excellent pitch. For once, we are lucky, and the Reedtz continue to spoil us as they show they’re making smart investments for the club, which is having a huge impact on all the positive things we see.
  7. I feel sorry for Morecambe and teams of their size. I hope they don’t suddenly pull it together just in time to play us and make it harder. If tomorrow goes well, we could be building a nice little run of form.
  8. I am happy, well more than happy. Delighted and over the moon doesn’t really do it. Jodi Jones’s extension gives us peace of mind. I would rather have players under contract than allowing them to wind down. Also, the fact he feels he has something to repay us for, despite all he has done, shows his quality off the pitch.
  9. Welcome back to PON, @Wheelbarrow repair man. It’s good to see your name back on the site. Let’s crack on and make the Pride of Nottingham the best fan forum on the internet.
  10. Hello, @Jeff johno. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham. I hope to see your username around the site.

  12. Hello, @Alan Carnell. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham. I hope to see your username around the site.
  13. I think Stuart Maynard made the right call switching Jodi Jones to the right, but I wish we would try Cedwyn Scott up top on occasions. I get he’s strong and works hard, but he needs to find consistency, and I think he would do that more as a striker, just like Jodi shines on the right. Good insights from Maynard though.
  14. It’s going to be interesting to see how both teams adapt to each other’s style. The play might not be the most entertaining, but I have faith in our players. Leaving with a draw wouldn’t be the worst outcome. I would take it and focus on other games, but I see no reason why we can’t be clinical on goal. Their form seems up and down right now.
  15. He’s clearly level-headed. I like that he’s focusing on improving, and it’s that drive which will get the best out of him. I think the decision to sell Aaron Nemane might have paid off, as we are now stronger defensively, and it frees up the right for Jodi Jones to be more threatening on goal. I am very impressed and delighted that he’s agreed to a new deal.
  16. It’s the best news we could have asked for. We just need to sort out Dan Crowley’s deal now, but Jodi Jones agreeing to a new deal is big news. I am happy to see Jodi commit to the club. This kind of deal should encourage other players to stay focused on reaching the targets the club has set out. There’s no denying Jodi is a cut above this level, and when fired up, he can be extremely entertaining to watch.
  17. Feel free to join the MAGnet topic if you know of a connection that hasn’t been mentioned yet. Perhaps a manager or a coach? There are no longer any limit requests, so go crazy if you can name anyone.
  18. @DangerousSausage, could you add a column that shows it? It might be a wise idea to just put the previous position rather than the points previously scored.
  19. Great read, @TheSkipper. I think you have perfectly written how the new players are fitting in with Notts and how they have strengthened the team. I wonder if more fans feel happier now in hindsight with the recruits? I remember people complaining on social media about Curtis Edwards being a ‘squad signing’. I do think Robbie Cundy is looking more like someone who will be pushed further back once other players become fully fit, but he’s done well at this level. He was a bit poor in the League Cup game against Shrewsbury, and I’m trying to be polite.
  20. Great insight into Bromley! For those of us attending the game, it will be interesting to see how well Bromley defend and how Notts react to their play. They have done well since coming up, and I was pleased when they got promoted. Notts shouldn’t find the game too hard, as I believe we have the quality and players to cause them trouble. If Notts are strong defensively, it could be like the Tranmere game.
  21. Our away performances so far have been reasonable. The win against Swindon Town gave us the boost we needed. It would be ideal to get another win on the road, but I think this would require some key players to be 100% fit for selection. Players like Dan Crowley and Jodi Jones. I think the squad would be fine without them but much better with them. If we are to create scoring chances, we need to make sure our strikers aren’t fatigued or tired. I would definitely have David McGoldrick starting, but I am hopeful Jatta will make his return.
  22. Can anyone else name more players? Let’s stick with one for now, but I have a feeling this might lead to more soon. Adam Coombes ✔️ Myles Weston ✔️ Richard Brindley ✔️ Conor Parsons ✔️ Lartey Sarpong ✔️ Kyle De Silva ✔️
  23. We are back for another round of MAGnets! This time, we will be playing Bromley FC at Hayes Lane on the 14th of September 2024. The player I will start this round with might not have been the best technically, but he was a top person off the field and always had a smile on his face. He currently plays for Rochdale, but before he played for Notts, he played for Bromley. It's none other than Tobi Adebayo-Rowling. Let's stick to naming one at a time for now, please. So, we can see how many members can contribute to this. Here is the match discussion too. Will be added once live. Please feel free to join in, but let's stick with one guess to start things off. This might be a harder round!
  24. I'm very happy for Jodi Jones, but I'm surprised that Dan Crowley wasn't chosen. I think Crowley has been just as good, or even better, but maybe they didn't want to choose two players from the same club. At least Jodi was chosen, and it's important for him to represent Notts. So, I'm very happy about Jodi's selection, but I'm also a little surprised.
  25. Stuart Maynard is doing a very good job. We have balanced the absences and have shown that the squad has depth, even with some players leaving. I think the start is important, because maintaining this level of performance would help Notts to progress and stay at the higher end of the table. I am not getting carried away, as I know that form can change. However, I am encouraged by how strong we are defensively. Notts County has also proven that they can score goals.
