Game 2: Loughborough Lightning v Notts County Women
Go on Magpies, you can do it! Loughborough Lightning beat Lincoln City 6-0 in the first game, so it could be a tough game for our women's team. COYP!!

Geraldo Bajrami out for the season.
He has to be very unfortunate or have something that is causing him to be prone to ACL injuries. The move to Burton would have been good had this not happened, when he signed for them, I did feel surprised that they did with his injury last season. Where this leaves him now, I wouldn't want to suggest, but it's hard to see how you can come back stronger and remain with a team at that level. I sincerely hope it doesn't impact his career, but it's unfortunate to be part of football.

Football Radar man joins Cheltenham Town as analyst
It's a nice story, which I hope works out for him because it could be a dream job. I was torn between working in football or general journalism, before I had my heart set on attending Leeds University. I thought that it could be fun working in football, I decided against it because I wanted to still be able to watch Notts. So, the lure of working within football is understandable.

The Magpieβs Eye: Notts County - A Season of Promise and Progress
Your point about us being committed to supporting Stuart Maynard I agree, we should chant his name a lot more. I think more fans are coming round, and I would agree that some use Maynard's former job as an invalid way to discredit him. That's football fans for you! It's not like most of these types would be able to do a better job themselves. I enjoyed reading your thoughts and blog, @Joshua.

Northerner terrifies Londoners
Not all Londoners are unfriendly, but I have noticed when I walk in the street most people have their heads down or are listening to music via headphones or earphones. It's not always related to being unsocial, but it is nicer to be able to say hello and be nice with people. The sketch is very funny, I wouldn't be able to keep a straight face. ????

Great investigative journalism into Inverness Caledonian Thistle
@liampie: Hereβs a breakdown for you, mate. Ketan Makwana was announced as the new majority shareholder of Caley Thistle, but the deal collapsed at the last moment. Seventy7Ventures, led by Makwana, had a Β£2.5m offer to purchase over 50% of the clubβs shares, which was initially accepted by the board. Former chief executive Scot Gardiner endorsed the deal, but negotiations were suspended three weeks later, and Gardiner left the club. People who previously dealt with Makwana describe him as a "fantasist" prone to exaggeration, who never delivered on his promises. Makwana previously attempted to take over Hayes and Yeading United, but negotiations fell through as he did not fulfil his commitments. He also promised investments in Krafty Entertainment but failed to provide the funds. Makwana made several dubious claims, including working as a special adviser to former Prime Minister David Cameron and contributing to Forbes, neither of which could be verified. His vision for Caley Thistle included "ambitious projects" like a hotel, Esports Arena, and a fan park, but experts warned it was unrealistic and raised multiple red flags. The situation surrounding Ketan Makwana's failed takeover of Caley Thistle underscores significant concerns about the club's leadership and due diligence processes. Makwana, initially set to become the majority shareholder, has been criticised by former associates as someone prone to grandiose promises without delivering results. His history of failed ventures, including attempted takeovers of other football clubs and unfulfilled investment promises in ventures like Krafty Entertainment, paints a picture of a man more inclined to talk than to act. Furthermore, his claims of having served as a special adviser to former Prime Minister David Cameron and contributing to Forbes magazine were found to be unsubstantiated, raising further doubts about his credibility. Despite the ambitious vision he proposed for Caley Thistle, including developments like a hotel, Esports Arena, and a fan park, experts in football finance have warned that such plans are often unrealistic and carry numerous red flags, particularly with the involvement of cryptocurrency. The abrupt collapse of the deal and the subsequent departure of the club's chief executive, Scot Gardiner, highlight the precarious financial position Caley Thistle found themselves in, especially after facing significant financial setbacks. The fact that the club came so close to handing over control to someone with such a questionable track record reflects deeper issues within its management. Supporters are now understandably concerned and demanding answers about how this situation was allowed to develop. In the end, while the club may have narrowly avoided a potentially disastrous takeover, this episode serves as a stark reminder of the importance of thorough vetting and the risks associated with being seduced by overly ambitious promises. The future of Caley Thistle now depends on finding a more reliable and transparent path forward.

Stuart Maynard Hails 'Incredible' Notts County Performance After Grimsby Town Triumph
I think with more performances like this, the players could make us believe we can challenge for promotion. It would be good to keep this form, especially against other promotion candidates. We should aim for the best possible run to move up the table. Credit to Stuart Maynard, he praises the team and shows a lot of potential.

Jermaine Jenas sacked by BBC
It does sound like it's a bit ***-for-tat to be honest. I have read some things and with my work place having covered the story, to me, it seems more like someone from the BBC wanted to rid of Jermaine Jenas. Although he has confessed to sending inappropriate texts, he maintains that none of them were illegal. This doesn't mean he was in the right to send the texts and I have heard rumours of him being flirty.

Match Report: Dan Crowley Double Seals Notts County's 4-1 Triumph Against Grimsby Town
The tempo Notts set was very high, with the chance creation and general play being very exciting to watch. Grimsby were poor in defending, but looked quite comfortable going forward. They reminded me of Notts against Tranmere, so I do think we defended better. Their goal was frustrating at the time, as it could have been a clean sheet, but it's all positives at the end of the day. I went home happy and encouraged, I can see players working well together. It would be good to see this continue, I hope it does start to become a consistent part of our game.

Curtis Edwards Reflects on Impressive Notts County Victory and His Role Moving Forward
When players click together, it can boost everyoneβs performance. While people are talking about Jodi Jones and Dan Crowley, thereβs another solid player who deserves attention. Curtis Edwards has the ability to do everything needed to make others thrive, gliding around the pitch effortlessly. I thought he played very well. He has the qualities weβve been looking for in our midfield. Heβs a mix of several players but brings his own style from playing overseas. I can see our midfield being just as strong as our defence.

Faces of PON 24-25: Grimsby Town (H)
Itβs always great to see the photos you take at games, @Chris. Some of the photos are excellent, and Iβm sure other fans appreciate them too. It was an action-packed game, so you are giving those who featured something extra to remember the game by. Great gallery!

The Pride of Nottingham Launches Monthly Fan Appreciation Initiative
Allowing the subscribers to be the judges should help make sure that the right people are rewarded. I am pleased to see this. The artwork is incredible, such a talent there! I think fans will love the prints. A lot of effort must go into them, and if some fans get acknowledged for their support, then I think itβs a very kind gesture. I also agree with what @True Magpie said. Well done to him and @Chris.

Charlton Athletic's Lucas Ness Joins Notts County on Three-Year Deal
It looks like an excellent bit of business on paper. I am sure Notts has done all their homework, and itβs good to see further strengthening of the defence. I think being strong in each area will help Notts move forward. I donβt see this as a panic signing or anything negative. I see it as the club really wanting to be structured at the back. So, I am delighted we have signed Lucas Ness.

Fair game Index revised
He looks like he's got a bit of a shiner on his left eye. I wonder if something fell on him whilst trying to do his recording. He speaks very well, but the amateur video isn't good. https://www.fairgameuk.org/fair-game-index-2024 I don't deny that the idea in principle is good, but I do wonder why Notts scores so poorly? The graphic they have shared isn't readable or clear when zooming in. Notts does a lot of work in the local community and things like that, so I would like a better insight from them on this.

Welcome to Notts, Lucas Ness
Very good defender, I thought this would have been a loan when I first noticed the news. I didn't think Charlton would allow him to go, but I think we have secured a very good young talented player. At 22-years-old, he could flourish inside like ours and I hope we can get the best out of him. Plenty of Charlton fans are singing his praises and wishing him well.

Straight Red Cards For Serious Foul Play
Injuries like this are saddening to see. I wish Greg Olley all the best with his recovery. Dion Kelly-Evans' challenge is extremely awful. It's a poor decision to go in with a challenge.

Historic Nottingham
That house has been well-maintained and respectfully preserved; it looks much better. It's good to see buildings being treated in this way, as they should be. Gone from that, to green to being filled in. It looks such a mess right now, I would have left it be. It was nice to see the greenery there.

Stuart Maynard Calls for Better Officiating to Protect Jodi Jones and Other Players
It might go against the grain, but by mentioning the officials, itβs just drawing attention to it. Jodi Jones does get frustrated, and quite rightly so, with the fouls on him, but he does also get on with it. I do think officials should cut it out, but at the same time, mentioning it in the press will just lead to teams assuming that if they do it and take Jones out, Notts will be limited. I donβt like that. We just need to try to safeguard Jodi by making sure heβs safe. Complaining might lead to officials offering no protection at all. As for the season, itβs good to be back. Everything seems promising. Notts just needs to climb the table.

Match Preview: Notts County Seek First Win Against Grimsby Town
I would be tempted to start David McGoldrick over Jatta, though both are in good form. I think Jatta might cause more trouble coming on from off the bench, with McGoldrick's experience helping to keep the front organised and ready to pounce. I am sure whatever the starting line-up will be, it will be strong and a good selection. A win would be very nice, but I do feel a draw could be possible again. I am not worried about these types of games ending up as 3 points. It will come as the season progresses.

Match Discussion: Game 3 - The Mariners (H)
I am not so concerned, but I do think it's a game that has a draw all over it. I think both us and Grimsby will make the most of the game, it could be a bit topsy-turvy. Provided it's not a game with rash challenges or otherwise heated moments, it's all about managing the game and trying to get shots on target. Would it make sense to start David McGoldrick up top, and allow Jatta to come on from off the bench? Notts could greatly benefit from Diddzy's experience to unleash their potential in the opening half. Can we bring some extra height and fresher legs onto the field in the second half? Nick Trousella will ideally be named in the starting 11. Adam Chicksen hasn't contributed much, he has not even taken the chance to start.
