  2. It appears to be a promising match, provided the rain doesn’t interfere. I was unaware that they are yet to appoint a manager and are still operating with an interim one. Whether this will be advantageous for us is uncertain, as I don’t have much information about him. However, I believe that if we put in the effort to create opportunities, we are more than capable of scoring. This seems to be one of those matches where a draw is the most probable outcome. Time will tell!
  3. Conceding goals is a bitter pill to swallow, just as it is for fans to witness their team being outmanoeuvred by rivals in a match where the opposition clearly had the upper hand. This has been a significant disappointment thus far. However, considering our current standing in the league, it’s a setback I’m willing to overlook. I’m hopeful that Luke Williams will demand more from the players. He needs to instil in them the belief that they are capable of not only winning matches but also putting up a strong fight against teams determined to disrupt our game. The performances against Forest Green Rovers and Colchester United seem to have taken the players aback, which is understandable. We’re still in the early stages of the season, and any team can triumph on any given day. However, one would expect to see more grit and determination from their team, especially when playing on home turf. There’s no denying that conceding goals and losing matches we could have managed better is painful. Taking an early 1-0 lead doesn’t necessarily ease the situation, but most issues can be addressed with consistent effort and rigorous training. Despite these setbacks, I remain optimistic. There’s plenty of football left to play, and I have faith in our team’s ability to bounce back and improve as the season progresses.
  4. David McGoldrick is certainly demonstrating his calibre here. Yes, some of his comments are what you would expect from a seasoned player during an interview, but what I appreciate is his sincerity. He recognises that football is all about results and doesn’t dismiss us fans for sharing our views. I’m certain there were individuals who reacted excessively to the loss against Mansfield, which I don’t condone. However, genuine opinions and thoughts should be welcomed as they are the lifeblood of the club. I believe McGoldrick’s sage words will hopefully bring people back into alignment, allowing us to concentrate on returning to our winning form. He was one of the few who seemed determined to compete against Mansfield, a trait I highly value.
  5. Notts County’s form in the EFL League Two 2023/24 season has been a bit of a rollercoaster. After a disappointing defeat to Sutton on the opening day, the team seemed to have found their footing with a strong start to the season. However, recent defeats, particularly the home loss to Mansfield, have been a cause for concern. The team’s performance at Meadow Lane has generally been strong, with the crowd support undoubtedly playing a part. However, the Mansfield game was a disappointment and highlighted some of the issues that Notts County faces away from home. In terms of goal scoring and conceding stats, it’s clear that the pressure of conceding is impacting our attack. Despite this, Notts County has shown they are capable of scoring when they need to. The current form of the team heavily relies on players like Jodi Jones, John Bostock, and Macaulay Langstaff. Matt Palmer also deserves a mention, despite some inconsistent performances. Looking ahead to the upcoming fixtures against Gillingham and Newport, it’s hard to predict how many points we’ll pick up. The pressure of being at the top end of the table may be impacting the team’s performance. Overall, while there are certainly areas for improvement, it’s important to remember that no team can win every game. The most important thing is that Notts County continues to enjoy their football and plays to the best of their ability.
  6. Hello, @Max Roberts. We are a group of fans of all ages, who enjoy talking about Notts. You'll will be made to feel at home and encouraged to share your thoughts, you will fit in just fine. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham! I hope to see your comments around the site.
  7. It should be understood that the defensive errors are not solely from the defenders, but the entire team. I don’t believe Aaron Nemane contributed as much to the defence, which is likely why he was substituted. I had the impression that Adam Chicksen and John Bostock could have made a difference, but it is what it is. Notts won’t win every match, nor does this imply we’ll lose subsequent ones. The midfield needs to step up, but it’s the defensive players who tend to panic when they should remain composed. It was an incredibly frustrating match to watch. I’m still disappointed because I look at our goals and think, if we had just performed slightly better, the outcome could have been entirely different.
  8. Defensively, we were severely lacking. Our awareness in crucial moments was practically non-existent. While it's true that Colchester United put pressure on us, there are ways to handle such situations. Unfortunately, we failed to do so and ended up playing right into their hands. Instead of making composed decisions, we panicked and made poor choices when better alternatives were available. The fact that we didn't mark or press properly is inexcusable. Nevertheless, we must accept all of this and take it as a learning experience.
  9. What's exasperating for me is that Colchester United appear to be just as poor in defence as we are, yet they aren't conceding goals like Notts. We're launching strong attacks, but we're not pausing to make the optimal decision when it comes to scoring. As I type this, Jodi Jones has just scored a spectacular goal. It's now 4-3 in our favour.
  10. Colchester United may not be in their true place, but we hope to play well against them and achieve a good outcome. Luke Williams is correct to show them respect. This reminds our players to stay concentrated and not get ahead of themselves. Neither we nor they have won anything yet. It’s set to be a great contest between us.
  11. Norwich City 3-0 Birmingham City QPR 1-0 Coventry City Port Vale 1-1 Bolton Wanderers Reading 2-1 Burton Albion Gillingham 1-3 Mansfield Town Salford City 0-0 Newport County Halifax Town 0-2 Eastleigh Joker Rochdale 1-1 Southend United
  12. I’m concerned that Scunthorpe United may have overextended themselves this season, considering all the signings they’ve made and now this. Football is a risky game; I hope things turn around for them.
  13. It appears to be an engaging read; I purchased his previous book, and it was brimming with greatness.
  14. So far, the Reedtz family has appointed two highly capable managers. Luke Williams, I would argue, didn’t exactly emerge from obscurity as he was making a name for himself as a coach and was highly regarded enough to be given an opportunity at Swindon Town. However, what he did as Ian Burchnall’s successor was to push every player to their maximum potential and demand consistency. Tom Weal and Ryan Harley also deserve a lot of credit for their work, as the coaching staff provide Williams with a wealth of knowledge, and he’s the first to acknowledge this himself. He’s taken a solid Notts squad, made them consistent, and when we hit form, we stay in form. There’s no in-between, we just improve, and I believe much of this is due to his strong mindset.
  15. You know, at present, the most unforgettable match for me is our playoff final against Colchester United. It would take a momentous event to surpass this. I’ve never seen Notts play at Wembley; I’ve watched England and a few other teams, but never my own. Seeing your favourite team earn promotion from any league is a special occasion, but the way we accomplished it was the cherry on top. I also relish attending with two of my closest friends. It was a monumental event.
  16. We’re living a dream at the moment with the results we’ve achieved, and it’s taken a lot of effort to get here. I hope Notts can dig deep and deliver a consistent performance against Colchester United. Joe Taylor, Samson Tovide, Noah Chilvers, and Connor Hall are all exceptional players. It’s unfortunate that they let Alan Judge go; it would have been lovely to see him. I understand he’s still training with them while he recovers from his injury. It would have been great to see him, as he was one of the first players I truly connected with at Notts. He and Neal Bishop always seemed like significant players for us. I don’t believe they’ll be easy to beat; they have some height and enjoy counterattacking. Their defence is questionable so far, but they’re nonetheless quite capable.
  17. @AmericanPie @Piethagoram: Mike Edwards. He played for Colchester United before joining us. As did, Sean Farrell.
  18. Luke Williams isn’t mistaken, there’s a considerable journey ahead and we’re aware that he’s thrilled deep down, yet he’s preserving the professionalism we’ve all grown to appreciate. He won’t dwell too much on leading the league, but he’ll aim to keep a favourable position and when the time is right, I believe we’ll see him coax more from our team. The players and coaching staff have made remarkable progress, it’s delightful to anticipate another thrilling season, but I’ll adopt Williams’ approach and concentrate on each task at hand.
  19. Cheltenham seems to be in trouble. They’ll need to recover quickly after this season. I don’t see their fortunes changing anytime soon.
  20. The podcast discussed several ways to hold the ownership accountable. It’s positive that fans can prevent changes to their team colours and club crests. It would be good to protect grounds from being sold by dubious owners and force councils to listen to fans regarding planning permission.
  21. The tweet is somewhat misleading. It’s a team effort, and while he’s a good player, the team’s improvement isn’t solely because of him. He’s a talented player who will likely play at a higher level in a few years. I doubt he’ll return to this level anytime soon.
  22. I’ve never met Jimmy, but I would have loved to interview him. I’ve spoken to famous people for my work, but none of them really interest me. Jimmy Sirrel would be in my top 5 dream interviews. I enjoy hearing fans share their experiences with him. He was an excellent manager, arguably the best the club has ever had.
  23. Notts put on a great team show. Although both sides could have reduced individual errors, the game wouldn’t have been as exciting. The second half was particularly enjoyable with action at both ends. As a Notts supporter, it’s pleasing to see the team play well and maintain control. Forest Green also played seriously and showed quality.
  24. I greatly admire Luke Williams for his candour and relentless pursuit of perfection. Although he stated earlier this season that he doesn’t place too much emphasis on performances, it’s evident that he takes great pride in the team’s performance. Conceding three goals wasn’t necessarily a negative for us; most supporters will recognise the closeness of the match. However, the pivotal moment was when the score was levelled at 2-2. If Forest Green had scored their three goals in a different manner, Luke might not have been as vexed.
  25. This is quite amusing, but I can’t help but wonder if Blade fans will choose to purchase their eyewear elsewhere? The UK does have a tendency to take umbrage at things like this. There seems to be a distinct lack of humour these days.
