Notts County vs Chesterfield

Well I am not holding much hopes to a win, I think it's going to be difficult as they're in form and will most likely be prepared for whatever we decide to throw at them. I mean, we could do well - as always it depends on who turns up and how each player performs. I think with Carroll in form (which I don't think he has been 100% recenlty - Though I don't blame him) things might sway towards our favour especially being at home.

Yet I do feel Chesterfield will want to prove themselves, especially to show there's 'life after Doyle' who was one of the most average players I have seen live.

Chesterfield fans said at the away game he had been performing quite iffy (polite words chosen) and I felt it was to sort of mock us but he didn't, he played quite averagely. Which for me highlights the type of squad they have, though I do expect them to burn out - it's a testament and shows their strengths that they're still doing very well.

If they run at us, gain confidence and we don't defend, I can see them scoring quite a few (at the most 3). I certainly hope not.

I'll take a draw but it would be fantastic to get the win, though I do think 1-1 will be the full time score.

What about you? What do you think of our opposition? Score Prediction?

If we have any ambition at all, we should be approaching this game with confidence. We are the home side. It's time we took the game to the visitors at home.

I was worried but once they sold Eoin Doyle, I'm quietly confident that we will win. Yes they have a good side and one of the best managers in the division, but I expect a driven performance by our players in what is a derby game.

2-1 to us I reckon.

i dont know, i dont like going into games thinking we will lose but its hard to see how we will win.

our players are still getting used to each other and the performances have not been up to sctratch, i just think it will take time and i see them making it difficult for us. i hope for a draw but i think it will be 0-2 to them.

With Notts recent form i can see why some of us think we will lose, but this game does make it harder to believe we can actually finish it with 3 points.

I'd say we will either lose or draw this one. Their form is much better than ours recently.

If Notts can stand against them as we did at their ground we should be okay, however they did dominate periods where we could be thankful that their striker was woeful.

How many shots did he waste? COYP

2-1 Notts!

I don't fear them, they are decent but punching above their weight. if we don't concede early on, we will be fine!

Notts could pinch this from them. 1-0 to us.

I dont know... but my bet is both teams to score

Scenario 1:

We will go 1-0 up early on then start to waste time, Carroll will get booked for wasting time by tying his gloves for the umpteenth time, two defensive lapses will take us to 1-2 with 5 minutes to go and Carroll will suddenly start getting the ball upfield with urgency, 5 minutes of frantic Notts pressure will culminate in Bajner shooting over the bar from 3 yards out, the whistle will go to a chorus of boos from Notts fans as they trudge disconsolately out of the ground.

The first rumblings of discontent will start on twitter and Mad with people calling for Derry's head and Mr. Trew's trigger finger will start to twitch.

Scenario 2:

Devastated by the loss of Doyle the Spireites will fall apart under the relentless pressure of free flowing football from a rampant Notts. Thompson will score 2 and Bajner a scorcher sending the crowd delirious and the official Facebook page into meltdown with posts from Hungary and Notts will finish worthy winners 3-0.

Derry will come on the radio and declare we are capable of maintaining the push for promotion, twitter and message boards will be buoyant at the prospect of Champioship football next year and Mr. Trew will be happy in his counting house counting the proceeds from a bumper crowd.

I got the scoreline correct last week, unfortunately it was the wrong way round. So no prediction from me this week, just to wish Notts well and hope for a positive outcome.

Carroll

Dumbuya, Mullins ©, Hollis, Adams

C Thompson, Smith, Noble

Woolery, Bajner, Hayhurst

Interesting team, can see this being a bit of a fiery derby.

Posted

sounds like a decent atmosphere and with luck it will be a great derby game

Posted

that sounded as though it was harder to miss than score then for Bajner

The referee is a disgrace!

Posted

A good derby game says Colin and Deano, but I would love to hear from those who went...

What was Hollis doing, was he at fault? thoughts on the ref? and the team and performance as a whole

I am afraid to say it appears that the season is rapidly disintegrating. Roy Carroll being booked after the match sums up the situation at Notts at the moment............chaos.

.........if I had any sense, I would ignore the fact that a freezing Brisbane Road on Tuesday night is only about 45 minutes away from me on the tube and stay in.

Unfortunately, after 52 seasons I don't think I'm going to acquire any sense soon.

Roy must be due a suspension then....

Half time I was optimistic we could get something provided Bajner had support. The goal makes me extremely gutted and disappointed.

I don't think we deserved to lose.

I will add a more detailed post when I'm home, I enjoyed talking to the fans and hearing their views. @Captain Sticky was one of the fans I spoke too, pleased to meet him.

Hollis can't be held at fault, the goal was very much a fluke and I doubt I'll see one like that down at the Lane for quite some time.

As for the referee, a few poor decisions were made but he was no Stuart Attwell (lets not go into detail!). The linesman on the Pavis touchline brought back the play (when we had played our advantage, no less) which resulted in their goal.

All in all this was by no means our worst defeat this season, the boys played well in the first half and there was nothing between our two sides until Chesterfield scored, I think we're almost there in terms of kicking away this poor run of form.
