  • You’re going to lose games over a course of the season, the thing that’s needed in this league if you’re going to do well is a positive reaction and we got it.

Probable goal of the season from Castro, unbelievable strike. And what more can you say about Macca, he’s going to get 20 goals before Christmas at this rate.

But the third goal shows what this team is all about. We seem a lot more determined and relentless off the ball this season. Not giving the opposition time, winning the ball back quickly and high up in dangerous positions. Defenders hate it and we’ve seen it enough times the past few seasons how a high press caused us problems. Now we’re the ones causing the problems!

These matches kick off at 7.45pm on Tuesday 13 September. You have one joker each - good luck!

  • How good was that? A completely dominant performance away at one of the better teams in the division (albeit one that must be sick of the sight of us by now). The Daggers were unbeaten at home until yesterday. And I'm not sure even the wildest optimists saw Langstaff getting nine goals just a month into the season. We seem to have clicked, but this is the points average we need to keep up right up to the end of the season - it's not unheard of to miss out on promotion with 95 points in this league. But I'm much more confident we'll be up there than I was. On to Bromley!

Just watched the extended highlights, I’ve no idea what the daggers plan was to deal with us. They didn’t press, they didn’t tackle and they didn’t mark! I’d like to know our record against them in this league, we seem to beat them all the time. A lot of folk always have them as their dark horse but every time we’ve played them I’ve been really unimpressed.

Credit to us though, if a team is going to let you have the ball trouble free than it’s important we do the damage and we really did. None of the goals are going to be in the goal of the season package but the play to create the chances was great as was the finishing. I was little worried about the formation at the start of the season, particularly with the wingbacks but Chicks and Nemane are a lot more effective now. Still unbeaten and back to homes games to come, feels like a great opportunity to gets 5 wins in a row!

Upon promotion to Division One in 1979, Crystal Palace were proclaimed the "team of the eighties". They were relegated in 1981 and didn't come back up till the nineties. Reckon your predictions are better? Have a go below! Kick-off is Saturday at 3pm, and remember your joker!

Blackburn Rovers v Bristol City

Swansea City v QPR

Cambridge United v Lincoln City

Derby County v Plymouth Argyle

Crewe Alexandra v Stevenage

Gillingham v Swindon Town

Bromley v Eastleigh

Yeovil Town v York City

Slocombe 6 A clean sheet but not without a characteristic sloppy pass that could have cost a goal

Brindley 7 Like how he steps up and brings the ball out of defence and through the lines

Baldwin 6 Some over hit passes but rarely troubled

Cameron 6 Mentally switched on.

Palmer 6 Back to where he is good at, always providing an outlet for the pass

Bajrami 8 MoTM a Neal Bishop mark II version

Chicksen 7.5 A far post ghosting in goal!

Nemane 6.5 Some good work on the right

Ruben 7.9 Not quite MoTM, but had that long range shot gone in, may well have been

Scott 6 Needed to be more ruthless

Langstaff 7 OK didn't score but always looks a threat. Movement makes the departed Wooton look so static

  • I was slightly worried about this one, Halifax were going to score at some point and although they did I’m glad it counted for nothing in the end.

Sounded like neither side really got going but the goal gave us confidence and then our quality of finishing was the difference, in particular Langstaff! I had a slight doubt he may struggle with the step up at first but it’s been no issue at all. He really is the real deal. And you can’t forget Scott and Mitchell. Scott with his first start and a goal and Mitchell continuing his promising form from pre-season. No lack of firepower at the moment!

As for Halifax, they might struggle this season, I didn’t think so initially but given how well Pete Wild has started at Barrow it looks like he was key to their success.

It's still 30 degrees outside and the World Cup hasn't happened yet, but we're already onto our fifth round of fixtures. Doesn't seem right somehow. But anyway, have a go at predicting these fixtures by 3pm on Saturday, and remember your jokers. Good luck!

  • I’ve seen a few people say the first half was dreadful, it wasn’t good but it wasn’t that bad. We were pretty much in control of the game, but in an attacking sense we were poor. Second half still largely poor but then the subs came on the game got chaotic and we just really benefited from it. However, I still didn’t feel comfortable with our defending. The game got very stretched and there was a lot of space for Chesterfield, luckily they didn’t really exploit it. Credit to the players though for getting back in it, cos when we went 2-0 down I thought that was it.

I know there’s more to football than formations but I just don’t think the 3-5-2 suited us there. First half no real threat, and then for that last 30 mins we were all over the place. But for me the wingbacks are key positions and Chicksen at LWB is counter-productive. He really didn’t cause them any problems and the space he left behind caused us more problems. I really like Chicks and he didn’t always get that much support but playing him that high just isn’t his game. It suits Nemane more because he can at least beat his man. And Rodrigues played a lot deeper too, really wasn't able to do enough in an attacking sense for us today.

Weird, a largely uneventful game but a wild last 30 mins. I’ll take that point but still a lot to work on for me.

August looked difficult on paper and so it's proving, but I suppose we should be glad of a point after trailing 2-0. Looking forward to seeing the goals tomorrow.

From my point of view it looks a lot like LW doesn't know his best team yet.

I actually did find the first half difficult to watch, Notts looked like a team that was going through the motions. Rushing creativity, losing ground and pressuring ourselves. Simply put, Notts made it very easy for Chesterfield to begin with.

There was little to no service up front and, I honestly don't recall testing Fitzsimons in the first 45 minutes. Did we actually have any attempts on goal?

Chesterfield's gain was our own undoing, the defending leading to the goal was extremely poor and for someone who I personally feel should be played out wide. Richard Brindley deserves credit for his efforts; it's a shame his work went unnoticed by those around him. As his block/defending didn't match those who could've dealt with the building threat better. The harsh view I feel, is blaming Slocombe for it. He had no chance, his commands of 'away' was being ignored. What I don't understand is why we can't just boot the ball away when in these situations, not that I believe playing out from the back is the issue.

It's more the inability to absorb pressure when it builds to easy chances.

Playing out from the back is important, as it does calm things down and space does emerge, but we need to exploit this opening better. At times, I feel we just need to clear the ball as far away as possible, re-group and stay alert. If their opening goal had been a wonder strike, it wouldn't be as annoying but the fact Chesterfield kept pushing for the opener whilst we were defending like blind mice. None of our attacks in the first 45 minutes seemed likely to trouble their defence, does this mean the booing was deserved? Not at all, I find that poor support. Yet Notts was dire in the first half, with no actual solid purpose or directives.

Austin and Scott coming on made a huge difference.

Credit to Mitchell I thought he actually did okay, but he just doesn't seem to be a natural goal threat. I thought some key players had been quite poor, Rodrigues for one who continues to fall quite short. His engine never seems to get going, plus his greediness is quite annoying when he's simply not doing well.

Great comeback and, I do feel the timing was good as Chesterfield couldn't handle us, but this needs to be more than just 30 minutes. If the pressure had been applied, a win could've been the final result. I do believe we had enough chances in the second half but when Notts defends like we did at times - we will only occur problems rather than creating headaches for the opposition.

As we've got a full league programme on Tuesday night, we're also having our first midweek prediction league round of the season. So here's your chance to top up your points! All of these matches kick off at 7.45pm on Tuesday, you have a joker each!
