  1. The newcastle united player signed a 18 month contract for The Magpies.

Cal Roberts is a winger who should do well in our squad if given the chance.

  2. I was standing in the beer garden with a few older relatives of mine, when this lanky smartly dressed guy demanded to see my ID. Of course, I shown him. It was actually myself who got the round in, which I did explain.

For the following half hour before we made our way to the game, I was constantly being watched by bar staff and the same lanky guy who I believe might be a manager.

I won't be drinking there again, it takes ages to be served any way and the staff are just rude.

  3. I am reading a lot of comments that the club could do with signing a creative midfielder or winger, surely a creative player would be higher on the priority list?

Sam Osborne may lose important development time if a stronger winger is signed, which would be a crying shame. I know I am an exile, but I don't see Neal Ardley dropping Enzio Boldewijn. That still leaves Sean Shields, and I think some have mentioned Regan Booty can play out wide.

Perhaps, a little more quality in the centre of the park would be the best bit of business the club could do? You need creativity to feed the strikers, I feel the club could do with a king ping midfielder than can unlock play with his passing.

  4. Which players do you feel could share a journey with Notts? Who has the potential to be good? What level of football can you see certain prospects making?

I know a lot speak highly of Regan Booty and Alex Lacey.

I’m curious as to what members think their level is, this way we can compare whom has the best potential in the squad.

  5. A big fat congratulations to December's manager of the month - and not least to the team who got the results. Massive credit goes to everyone involved!

Here's Neal Ardley, with exactly the sort of face you pull when you receive a Christmas present you've no idea what to do with but still want to appear grateful :D

He says it'll end up in the shed next to his other awards. I think that's where I'd leave the tacky thing too!

  6. An article has stated that Jim O'Brien started training again on monday with protection on his arm and a large scar on his leg. Ardley has said that hes back training but isnt going to rush him even though he wants him back in the squad.

    Whats your thoughts on this?

  8. Who would you say have been the standout players for Notts County this decade and why?

  9. Welcome to the PON forum @Catherine Iremonger, you have a familiar name to Notts County.

Are you by any chance related to the legendary keeper and cricketer Albert Iremonger?

  11. I think with modern football, teams have to think about now and what could happen a few years. I've always felt like Notts have been short sighted with this, almost like the outcome doesn't matter. Players come and go, often these days never establishing themselves. In the 90's, the club made a lot of mistakes with selling key players and not allowing the squad to mature as experienced players retired.

The late 70's and 80's, Notts produced some great talent and the squads grew with each other.

I would like to see Notts thinking a little more about how to move forward when a good player is nearing their end or is likely to progress up the football pyramid.

Michael Doyle: He will require a strong minded replacement.

Sam Slocombe: is 31: Will Ross Fitzsimons be good enough to take on his gloves? Notts may get another 4 years out of Sam.

Ben Turner: again is 31, he seems injury prone and from comments seems to struggle with fitness. A good defender to have, but how long does he have left at the club?

Zoumana Bakayogo: At 33, seems a fringe player in Neal Ardley's squad. I can see him going at the end of the season, if he don't feature much more.

Jim O'Brien: Has been unlucky with injuries, could this take its toll on a 32 year old?

Wes Thomas: Has a few more years within him, but is a candidate as someone the club must replace well to move forward or to improve.

Nathan Tyson: I expect him to retire at the end of the season.

The players in bold are players I feel need replacing well, some players like Regan Booty may eventually step into the likes of Jim O'Brien's boots but I would like to see a bit more experience to cover this area.

A player like Michael Doyle, yet is prime needs to be high on the priority list for the scouting and recruitment.

I feel Notts needs to develop younger players, by firstly replacing the senior and key areas and then filling in the gap with promising players that whoever is in charge is willing to play. Thy will only improve with game time, how do you feel about this?

  15. Well, all I can say is I failed my theory test again this week, got a new instructor but didn't get on with her, so I am back looking again. It's getting to the point where I am getting ready to quit altogether and putting the money towards a house.

Went to the doctors and said that I might need to have blood taken, for some medication they want to put me on for an ongoing problem that I've had since August 2018.

Hopefully, I will get some better luck, stuff like this always happens before my birthday. So I'm hoping when I hit 20 everything will get better.

I did get to spend some quality time with @ARLukomski, and got some things planned. I'm looking forward to them.

All round this week it's just been rubbish. I hope everyone elses week was better than mine.

  16. Slocombe 6 - Collected crosses like General Grievous collects lightsabers

Brindley 6 - Had his times getting up the line but not much of note

Rawlinson 7 - Dealt with Effiong well and came forward with the ball out of defence

Lacey 8 - Passing to the strikers and midfield in the first half was tremendous. Solid yet again. The guy is taking the mickey

McCrory 6 - Lost the ball and was ran past on a few occasions but solid enough

Osborne 5 - Still needs to work on his crossing. Should have put more power on his ball to Thomas

Rose 4 - Too many ineffective passes. Was too deep and almost cost us

Doyle 7 - Passing was alright and he got stuck in like he normally does. Was ready for the battle

Boldewijn 6 - Was anonymous for quite a while but oh so close with that free kick

Wootton 6 - Did his best to bring the ball down and into play. Sometimes his first touch was good and sometimes it wasn't

Thomas 6 - Made them runs but needs to score that chance in the second half. He has half the net to aim for

Tyson 6 - Really lively when he came on. Good to see

Dennis 6 - Didn't really get much to be fair. Had a half chance

  17. Game 31 - The Whites (H)

    Team: Dover Athletic

    Date: 18/01/2020

    Where: Meadow Lane

What line-up should Neal Ardley opt for? What will be the key areas for the Magpies to get a victory? What do you think the final score will be?

Notts are codependent on teams that give them space, I thought Dover seemed very organised.

      Dirty, but organised.

    3. JIMBO

      JIMBO

Notts lacked grit, it was obvious to me that JOB could have offered that spark.

I thought Tyson looked fired up, he chased everything and looked like a player who wanted to impress.

A stalemate might be disappointed, but nothing ended up being dropped and it's a clean sheet.

There will be games like this.

It's all about collecting wins on the row, and not losing games.

  18. If you're considering purchasing one of the many Pride of Nottingham prints, please be aware that the deadline for Christmas deliveries is on the 18th of this month.

All prints are sent out by 2nd delivery as standard; however, you can pay to bump it up to 1st class if you wish.
The cost of doing so is just £2.50.

  19. What football cliche sayings have you heard the most that annoy you? And why do they annoy you?

  20. How has Nottingham changed as a city over the years?

During my last visit, everywhere had changed. I noticed a lot of the little things such as the market square and pubs which are no longer there. I thought it would be an interesting topic, to see how members of PON reminisce about Nottingham itself.
