FA Cup Qualifying - The Lambs (A)

Team: Tamworth

Date: 16/10/2021

Where: The Lamb Ground

What line-up should Ian Burchnall opt for? What will be the key areas for the Magpies to get a victory? What do you think the final score will be?

Have your say below, join in with the Pride of Nottingham match discussion.

Although some teams (ahem) will spend Saturday tearing strips out of each other for the right to play the likes of Crawley Town in the FA Cup, there's a full league programme on in the Proper Leagues. And so we have round 12 of our prediction league - the matches kick off at 3pm, and you get a joker each.

Millwall v Luton Town

Nottingham Florist v Blackpool

Cambridge United v Ipswich Town

Fleetwood Town v Crewe Alexandra

Lincoln City v Charlton Athletic

Bradford City v Bristol Rovers

Crawley Town v Sutton United

Exeter City v Newport County

should we extend patterson and brennans loan if possible?

brennans loan expires on 27th November.

patterson loan expires on 26th October.

i think its clear we thought patterson was a short term option but i think slocombe having someone to push him for his place would help, i dont think it makes sense to rely on just slocombe. its obvious the club dont want to recall brooks, so i wonder would sunderland allow patterson to remain if he was to sit behind another experienced keeper without much game time?

brennan for me is less important, although a useful player to have. if rawlinson and lacey remains fit, where would brennan fit in? i dont see him getting much game time if we arent expiring injuries at the back.

What are your thoughts on what is currently happening with Notts right now? Why are the players leaking and giving goals away???

Thought Hungary were so well set up...a mixture of their top 3 pressing, discipline to keep players behind the ball, making it difficult for England to find space

I thought it was a bonus to see Kyle Cameron selected to play against Yeovil, a crucial return in my eyes. Connell Rawlinson and Sam Slocombe will be welcomed returns too.

What centre-backs would you choose?

Sam Slocombe or Anthony Patterson in goal?

Game 11 - The Glovers (A)

  • I didn't get round to posting, but I thought a gritty, ugly 1-0 win would have done us a world of good, so I'm delighted with the result. It was just important to get back to winning ways and just get the basic things right again. Looking forward to seeing the highlights of this one!

Seeing out games is something I think the squad will get better at, what with players returning. Provided we keep a strong defence, I think the worries should be over. I am glad Notts managed to get the 2-0 win.

By all means it could've been more goals for Notts, but the job was done which is all that matters.

A piece I've written on changes that need to be made for International football.

The rules are the same, 3pm Saturday is kick-off time. Good luck - and remember those jokers!

Ipswich Town v Shrewsbury Town

Sheffield Wednesday v Bolton Wanderers

Barrow v Leyton Orient

Hartlepool United v Northampton Town

Mansfield Town v Oldham Athletic

Boreham Wood v Dagenham & Redbridge

Dover Athletic v Barnet

Wealdstone v Eastleigh

Painful defending, a nightmare

Who will we get in the draw tomorrow.... I am hoping for either Boston United or Stamford Town...

There's going to be a match later this month with heading restrictions in place. First half headers in area, second half no headers.

While I'm all for the research of brain injury caused by heading a football and I do believe that some cases of dimentia may have been caused by this, there is the factor of balls being lighter these days compared to the ones years ago when they were solid and soaked up rain to make them heavier.

I don't think the game could be without heading.

As I said I'm all for the research but is the game being without heading beneficial for football as a whole?

So with last nights results for Grimsby and Chesterfield does that put our loss at the weekend into perspective? For me it just goes to show that this league is still massively unpredictable and no matter what we as supporters think/expect most teams are capable of beating each other on their day. It’s going to be another exciting season again I just hope we’ve done enough come the end of it.

  • I thought Notts had a lot of luck to take the lead, Halifax created more chances that could've resulted in goals but seemed to struggle to get the clear cut to take them. At 2-0, Notts needs to learn to close the game off and just kill time, without making stupid mistakes. To allow a game to go from 0-2, to 3-2, especially after the result results its just neglectful and naïve.

Something has to be put in place in the training to improve this, otherwise the season will soon be over.

I don’t quite know how we got ourselves into the situation of being overran like that. Where was the midfield for that goal? Why was it just Sam there? But yeah I totally agree he doesn’t do enough to stop the initial run, he's got to at least try and tackle him.

Me neither. However there's no point in Sam tracking back if he is gonna float around like that. Close them down! It's the last minute of the game, you're fresh off the bench and trying to prove a point, where's the intensity, passion, desire? Just gives a half-arsed attempt and walks back to the half-way line. Muppet.

Typical Notts with feeling like things might be improving, to slump but I do think winning ways will return soon. Its disappointing that we lead 2-0, in a game it sounds like a lot of luck came our way. I don't think unlucky comes into losing, it was just poor.

and one can see the Sirrel stand is built over the River Leen...  Haven't seen posts from @Riverleeno for some time!

What did you all do for your holidays this year? Did you take the opportunity to flay to a green list country, or did you stay in the UK?

Here in Germany, nearly everyone I know stayed in the country. One friend nipped across the border to Austria, while my neighbour went to Mallorca, but that's it. We went to Lake Titisee in the Black Forest, which is almost 1000 metres above sea level. Sounds nice until you realise it has its own microclimate and is several degrees colder than most other places! It's certainly picturesque, but I do wish I'd moved closer to a beach...

What were your holiday haunts this year? And did any of you manage to combine it with a Notts away match? ;)

Paterson 6 Defence let him down

Brindley 3 One good forward run, with the inevitable no end result...defensively asleep

Lacey 4 Can't put a finger on what has gone wrong

Brennan 4

Chicksen 4 some good passing

Palmer 5 Runs around, one great shot towards the end

JOB 5 Better than Francis, all fell apart when he went off

Mitchell 3 When compared to Woking's offerings, I wonder why we signed him

Ruben 6 Great strike for the goal

Wootton 4 No goal threat

Nemane 6.5 The only bright spark..had the full back in his back pocket until he  tired later on

Time to gaze into our crystal balls again on Saturday. Kick-off is at 3pm, and remember your jokers ;)

Derby County v Swansea City

Fleetwood Town v Charlton Athletic

Sheffield Wednesday v Oxford United

Bristol Rovers v Swindon Town
