  1. If any of you still want to watch football after last week and you're at a loose end tomorrow, I have a tip for you. A few years ago some Waldhof Mannheim fans started an internet live stream showing video of every away match, which is available unrestricted and for free on YouTube. The match tomorrow (Saturday, 1pm UK time) will be the very last one as Waldhof are in a league with an actual TV deal next season. So if you're interested in something a bit different, come to this thread tomorrow at 1pm and click the link below!

  2. I know we haven't had the best time recently but is anyone else sick to death of the way this club is treated by other fans?

    http://www.theconferenceforum.co.uk/thread/65122

I think they're going to be very surprised when we actually sort ourselves out, which could be very quickly. We are naturally a bigger club than anybody at that level. If Bristol Rovers can come back first time then so can we!

  3. I wonder if any of you came down to Rodney Parade a couple of years ago ....last game of the season....you remember?

Notts holding on at 1-1 against Newport County and then , up North, Hartlepool go ahead against Doncaster with about 10 mins to play ......Newport to be relegated if the score didn’t change.

That Hartlepool goal inspired you lot to cheer and celebrate my team’s relegation.....now, “what goes around, comes around “ ...does it not?

So pleased to see your club face yrs of obscurity in the non-league....took the “County” 25 plus years to get back our league status and your wonderful fans cheered the goal that would have sent us back down!

Of course , we scored in the final minute and won 2-1 ...the great escape!

How things have turned around...little Newport ( bottom 3 budget ) , fans owned ....and in the playoffs.

Notts County chucking 40/50 grand a month at it ....and YES ....RELEGATED!

    NO SYMPATHY.

  4. I have read a lot of comments on social media, some are clearly fans having a laugh and others are somewhat more questionable. It's quite possible that IF the takeover happens, Notts could start to implement the club's identity back and therefore improve over a period of time. Non League isn't easy by any stretch of the imagination.

It's really going to be a test for Notts.

For Notts to adapt well, they need to focus on team building and get that 'spirit' of togetherness floating around the squad.

I seriously think it might take 1-3 years, of course Notts could bounce back next season but at this stage it seems unlikely. I can't see, despite the spine of the squad that remains looking half decent. The club needs to find defenders who not only have the ability to defend, but can stand up against heavy challenges - something in League Two Notts has desperately lacked for some time.

The midfield needs to have pace, it's fine to keep Michael Doyle if that is what Neal Ardley wants - however someone else will be required to do most of the running. Ideally someone better at taking set pieces will be signed, this could improve the changes.

Speed and height are a massive thing for the standard of football we face, some up top needs to be able to hold the ball up and those behind need to be capable of moving forward whilst directing space.

I think it's a very tough ask to expect this to happen at the first opportunity, as I say I think it will take a few years.

    What are your thoughts?

  5. So with the end of the season here folks what will you doing be on Saturdays instead of the match?

  6. should notts sign any ex players back if they can?

with players like gary liddle being released, would you welcome any of them back? if the players have a connection already to the club could this help with restoring the pride back in our play? i think the club would benefit from bringing back any that performed well.

david pipe would be a good call for me if we could get him.

  7. As @Chris is aware I have taken a step back from PON really from Christmas time. I just couldn't bring myself to talk about Notts at all through a nightmare season. Ever since the Grimsby (A) game really I have thought we were screwed. There is a long list of factors which I believe has sent us down which I will cover in an article shortly. I have also been extremely busy with work so other things around my life were put on hold.

However, with the nightmare season over which I am so so happy about I will be returning to PON and coming up with some hopefully new ideas. For me the relegation is a good thing (must be the only fan taking it as a positive). Of course at the start of the season we were all expecting promotion but from Christmas on really I think the fear of relegation was starting to become a reality. I will cover my thoughts on this soon.

    Cheers everyone!

    LM - Alessandra

    ST - Stead

I couldn't find if Campbell, Etete, Howes, Culverwell and Osborne were under contract

If these players are set to go, who would you think about replacing them with. We need a lot as I think we will get rid of quite a few.

As previously discussed in this topic, the players we wanted to keep and let go. Who would you want to fill them positions?

  9. The renewal season ticket prices for next season have been revised and reduced by £30. You have till the 30th may to renew your seats and the new price. If you have already renewed you can claim money back.

  12. What a melt! 😂😂😂

If Liverpool want it so badly, why don't they just steal it off Manchester City? 😂😂

  13. The writing has been on the wall for a long time, but it's still a difficult pill to swallow. Non-league Notts County. Jesus ******* wept.

As my attempt to look forward, to the new season, in non-*******-league...

Who should we try and keep?

    GK:
    Fitz - See ya later
Schofield - Don't try and get back, utter rubbish.

    DF:

Tootle - Verdicts out. Tempted to say thanks Matt for your effort, but this season simply hasn't been good enough. and you've been injured far too much of it. When Toots has played, he's been part of the problem, not the solution. I think, with a lot of regret, it's time to say goodbye.

Bird - Stay. Looked good when he's played and potentially one for the future. One of the few Notts CBs that looks half useful with his feet.
Ward - Do one. Wouldn't even risk his own financial well-being (he's played in the PL and Champ ffs!!!!) Notts fans would have given their last £ to go and see that shambles get relegated. **** off.

Duffy - Not as bad as some say he is, but he has to go.
    Brisley - See ya.
Barclay - Utter shambles, did anyone look at him before we signed him?!
Stubbs - I'd like to get him on loan again, doubt we will in the non-league.
Evina - Can't defend. Bye bye.
Jones - Without a doubt, see ya.

    Midfield:

Enzio - Do one. Not up for a scrap, which is what we'll get in non-league.
Vaughan - Legs gone. See ya
Doyle - Deary deary me. Started off so promising. He has been awful bar the first few games he played. I originally thought leave, but something, maybe his fight, says he could be useful to keep around. Stay.

O'Brien - Keep. Looks handy if we placed a few other players worthy of the shirt around him.
Rose - Keep. Would've been handy in L2 regardless, will most certainly be decent enough in the non-league.
Alessandra - Not sure as what happened to him, showed so much promise at times last season and at times under Kewell. We need a clean slate, bye.
    Crawford - No idea
    Patching - No idea
Hewitt - Sigh. Looked so good at times next to Yates. Perhaps that was due to Yates being a step above. Is versatile, but not sure at all. Leaning towards letting him go.

    Strikers:

Dennis - The signing that I am most disappointed in. Couldn't even get in the team at Grimsby. Thanks but no thanks.
Hemmings - You can see there is some ability there, somewhere, but we just haven't seen it. Up for non-league hoof-ball? I don't think so. Probably on a wedge, there's the door.
Stead - Firstly, thankyou Jon. You tried every second you have been with us. It was clear last season should've been your last as a starter, but our woes this season meant you have been used more than you should. Thanks again Jon, good luck with whatever you do next.

    Manager:
Ardley - Tactically woeful. I'm not sure how much of that was his doing, how much of the backroom **** he's had to deal with, the players he could attract given how much of a ******* circus we have been. I just don't know. I can't think of a manager we could actually attract being a non-league club that might do the business for us..... No idea.

Probably missed a few, as our squad is gigantic. The youths I don't know as I haven't seen anything from. That leaves me with a starting line-up consisting of:

    O'Brien, Rose, Doyle and Bird.

We're in for a battle next season, make no doubt about it.

    Come on you Pies.

  14. Neil Ardley as said he “wants to be apart of this club “ as we head in to final game of the season.

Would you be happy for him to stay at meadow lane?

  15. Game 46 - The Robins (A)

    Team: Swindon Town

    Date: 04/05/19

    Where: County Ground

What line-up should Neal Ardley opt for? What will be the key areas for the Magpies to get a victory? What do you think the final score will be?

This is like waiting for the dentist. I've been in pain since August and I'm at the stage when I want it over and done with. But who knows, maybe the dentist will change her mind and I'll just need a filling...

The team has to do its homework and win. If we don't do that, I won't drive myself mad thinking about results elsewhere and what if - if we don't win, we've failed and we don't deserve to stay up.

I've been coming to terms with relegation for a while, I'm already thinking about the fightback. But if we find ourselves above the line at any point tomorrow that'll all change... 😱

Please just win Notts, it should never be down to the other side losing.

      Talk about judgement day!

The players could have at least tried to win Swindon to end the season with a win, rather than a loss and confirmed relegation. I watched the goals, terrible defending.

  16. How do lads and lassies. It's been a while. I've been in self imposed exile since March 2017. I won't go into the reasons again, except to say that I had a beef with AH. AH had the best of intentions, I don't doubt that for a second, but his execution has cost us our league place. As AH is on his last legs at the club, I thought it was time to end my exile and start engaging on where we go from here.

Make no mistake about it, the Conference is a tough league. Every team will be gunning for Notts, it will be the equivalent of a cup final for a lot of clubs. I've been keeping an eye on Barnet and they found the adjustment difficult. You have to bring in experienced players at Conference level and mix them with what's left over. If a team is not prepared to do battle every single game, they will find themselves near the bottom. I hope NA stays on as manager, I think he's the man for the job ahead, if not, we need a manager who has deep knowledge of the Conference. I bet Martin Allen will pop up if NA does leave!

I'm not going to get sentimental because it was my choice, but I have missed all things Notts. The best thing about the club are the fans.

  17. A life long Notts fan as written an emotional letter about the situation his beloved  Magpies find them selfs in.

  18. It's clear that Notts has youngsters with the technical ability, otherwise scouts wouldn't be coming to watch them and clubs therefore wouldn't be poaching the better prospects. If we are to progress in this department, as fans, I feel that it should be accepted because there's really not much we can do - except to hold out for more money.

I was hugely disappointed that Donga He went for what seemed like peanuts, I do wonder if a young player like him could have broken into this squad and perhaps helped us out. Who knows? That's in the past, though.

What I would like Notts to start doing is, allowing the academy players to train in and around the first time.

I don't know if this happens currently, yet the youths/first year pros should be playing the first team very regularly in my opinion (at least once a month in season). I think some of the better prospects should have a senior professional as a mentor, really grind it into them that this is the club's future.

In fact, I feel that all the senior players should encourage the youngsters along with the pros. I know Les Bradd believes that this type of influence has helped him.

Could the club look into sponsorship more in this department to help with the nutritional side of things?

I think this could help the players bulk up, whilst the support from senior players would help them adapt their mental game. Football is all about playing, if they don't play - they'll never improve and the club seems scared to allow the youngsters to run themselves into the ground. I certainly feel Sam Osborne will thrive next season and if the worst happens HE needs more game time.

The academy has so much potential, I have seen the great work that has been carried out of the years but it could be much better. A proper plan how to incorporate and support players must be a focus of Notts.

Otherwise, we'll continue to have silly numbers in terms of the squad size and each transfer window the club will continue to panic buy just to gain experience - when a youngster could get that first bite of proper football.

  19. What Easter eggs or gifts did anyone get for easter?

  20. So with only 180 minutes of play left Notts are bottom but only 2 points off safety with two games left.

I know we have failed to capitalise on favours being done for us by teams either beating or drawing with Yeovil or Macclesfield.

We fought today with 10 men against Crawley after the card to Ben Barclay and refused to allow them to score.

So guys and girls can we pull of the greatest escape yet and remain the oldest league club and a league two team.?
