  1. This speaks for itself, I also have to admit... I watched the one which flew over and around the City ground. It's too impressive not to watch!

But don't worry, this is not that video!:rolleyes::P

    Thanks in advance

From the names; ‘Notts’ County, never Nottingham County for example, to the chants, the rivalry Notts fans have with Forest provides an example of this.

While I agree that some chants are always unacceptable - those ridiculing characteristics individuals cannot choose; race, gender or sexual orientation for example - to completely remove chants would irrevocably alter and damage a valuable tradition, a tradition which also brings out more positive traits; camaraderie, loyalty, humour and the ability to face adversity.

The ‘wheelbarrow song’ is a perfect example of this and for me sums up all that is good about football chanting.

    For those who haven’t heard it, to the tune of ‘Old Smoky’, it is simply;

“I had a wheelbarrow, the wheel fell off, I had a wheelbarrow, the wheel fell off, County, County, Countyâ€

Why then is that the perfect football chant?

First, its origins are disputed, rooted in folklore and the memories of famous comebacks at Shrewsbury Town or misfortune depending who you believe.

Secondly, it’s simple and inclusive. It uses no divisive language or themes, but it brings a community together, finishing with a rousing rendition of “County, County, Countyâ€.

Thirdly, it is self-deprecating; the inference being that as a club we are so unfortunate that even our wheelbarrow is broken.

good read on the official site http://www.nottscountyfc.co.uk/news/article/blog-why-the-wheelbarrow-song-is-the-perfect-football-chant-1960903.aspx

    I stumbled on this.

    Pretty cool and very rare!

What's the oldest ticket that you've seen? How much do think its worth? Thoughts?

  8. Just trying out this tappatalk suggested by @notts-joe, it's quite good once you get the hang of it, anyone else tried it yet?389fa878a54fee0d80454d17a4a4a88d.jpg

Just trying out a picture, sunrise over the Bay of Biscay.

  9. I'll start adding these after each game or occasion when I take pictures, this isn't aimed at ripping of @Dan. It's just something I enjoy doing and you wouldn't believe how popular it is, I actually now get asked to take pictures! Not always but quite often someone will. It's quite surreal really.

I've always had a lot of respect for him and it's good to see him back in football.

  12. RYANAIR boss Michael O’Leary has come to the aid of Martin O’Neill — by offering Jack Grealish’s family free flights if he plays for Ireland, writes John Fallon.

O’Neill is frantically trying to keep Aston Villa wonderkid Grealish away from the clutches of his native England.

The 19-year-old has parked a decision on his international future to concentrate on Villa — as Chelsea and Manchester United keep tabs on the flying winger.

But sports-mad O’Leary — who attended Villa’s match at Chelsea on Saturday when Grealish was an unused sub — has mounted a charm offensive on behalf of his country.

It's a fantastic offer, however Jack's got to make the decision.

Playing for England could see him progress further as an international, with a squad behind him. He could be the shinning light for Ireland and take them places which they have rarely been, he could help bring through more talent and encourage more youngsters to play for Ireland. This offer for free flights, isn't going to make it any easier!

    In other News!

Michael O'Leary's just been informed how many of the Grealish clan will be making their first flight to support the young Jack!

  13. I haven't had time to create the graphics and I almost forgot again, so please forgive me.

I always like to praise all the members who visit and contribute, it really does help. Many felt when I mentioned this place (before I put it up) that it wouldn't be worthwhile but I believe that we have something special here and I wouldn't take credit for that. For me it's the people who brighten my day up! That's why it is so important to me to thank you all.

    @Northants Pie

You've been a big help, not only with your cheerful comments but the help you've given me. I really do appreciate your help this month and I really hope you have time to continue.

    @anonypie

Richly deserved for all the effort she puts into managing the chat room for me, when I added it - I know I wondered how I would get people in and thankfully I didn't have too because Anony did! Each game you're there and keeping the conversation going, I really couldn't picture anyone else running the show in the chat room.

    @hissingdwarf

Sickness - You're always the backbone of the site. I enjoy reading the banter you have with Super (both of them) but I especially enjoy reading your comments to our games. Keep it up buddy!

    Special mentions -

@Pies4u - You're the fan who knows his game! Always pleased to see you contribute.
@super_ram and @GrannyPie - My Chuckle Parents! Would be missed without your support, always there to help remind me and get me back on track when I am a little down. Keep up the good work! (this might seem biased but I think they honestly deserve it)
@MuddyPatchPie - I miss you around the community, though I am delighted with your contributions recently. You're also someone I look forward to reading comments from, especially your opinion on how we play.

Also - Keep up the great work @Canadian you somehow manage to balance your work and PoN (Thank God).

Congrats to you all and many thanks!

  15. does anyone else think we have a squad now? compared to last years team it seems we had way to many individuals. players like jones and smith give us what bishop did before he left.

    our defense looks much better.

what are your thoughts on the squad?

  16. Here we go @super_ram this pub offers plenty of "real ale" from across the world, plus prices which would keep you here.

  17. This game is one which we can't waste really, if we play like we did last Saturday I can see us getting the win. Crewe are struggling, although they do have some decent players. I don't think this will be as easy as some are lining it up to be! Being bottom isn't somewhere you will want to be, they have young lads and are trying to pull them together.

Hopefully the fans can make an impact, against Chesterfield they did.

I'd keep Adams on the wing myself, I think he did well there and this gives others a chance. I'd give Thompson a break though, Chesterfield saw him as the weak link and did well running at him.

Roy Carroll might not have so much to do in this game, unlike some of our most recent games.

    Score prediction - 0-1 Notts!

    Thoughts?

  18. Saturday's fixtures:

    Birmingham City v Fulham

    Blackburn Rovers v Watford

Coventry City v Preston North End

    Peterborough United v Fleetwood Town

    Morecambe v Northampton Town

    Southend United v Shrewsbury Town

  19. QPR manager Harry Redknapp backs temporary substitutions

<!--url{0}--> QPR manager Harry Redknapp has called on the football authorities to consider following their rugby counterparts by allowing temporary substitutions to improve the treatment of concussion.

Redknapp was frustrated after medics withdrew Sandro just 11 minutes into Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Southampton following a heavy blow to his head.

According to Redknapp, the midfielder seemed to have recovered by half-time.

Redknapp said short-term replacements was an idea "worth looking at".

However, brain injury association Headway has warned that such a move could be dangerous.

Under Premier League rules introduced this season, the final say over whether players who suffer head injuries are substituted now rests with club doctors.
New concussion measures at a glance

A player suffering a head injury must now leave the pitch.

Team managers or coaching staff will no longer decide if a player continues to play and the final decision will be with the club doctor.

Home teams in the Premier League must now have a third "tunnel" doctor on match-days to support the work of the doctors for both sides.

The "tunnel" doctor will serve as an extra pair of eyes to spot potential concussions and watch TV replays to see the severity of incidents.

The FA, in conjunction with the Football League, PFA and LMA, is to launch a campaign aimed at making players and managers aware of the dangers of head injuries.

The Premier League is to employ its own doctor to conduct research and liaise with all 20 club doctors in the league on key medical matters.

All Premier League players are to undergo baseline neurological assessments as part of their annual medical check-up to help doctors measure their recovery time if they suffer a concussion.

Last season, Tottenham received widespread criticism after their goalkeeper Hugo Lloris returned to action despite being knocked unconscious.

The former Spurs boss added: "You couldn't wait 10 or 15 minutes with 10 men; you couldn't give medics that amount of time to look at a player.

"But it doesn't sound the worst idea for a temporary replacement, so that the doctors could have a longer look.

"Medical people can't take a chance and if someone is very bad you cannot expect them to carry on because if something went wrong we would all be very sorry.

"But at half-time there didn't seem to be a lot wrong with Sandro to me. He was fine in the changing rooms, he didn't look too bad at all but obviously the doctors have got to err on the side of caution."

Luke Griggs, from Headway, said temporary substitutions should not be introduced.

"Head injuries are not like other sports injuries," he explained. "Concussion is an evolving injury and the symptoms may take time to manifest.

"Damage such as bleeding or swelling to the brain may not be immediately obvious, while continuing to play after suffering a concussion can make you more susceptible to further, more damaging, injury.

"The danger with allowing temporary substitutions is that the period of assessment for a player is very limited. In addition, this assessment is conducted in a non-clinical environment.

"Until we have a more robust, scientifically-accurate means of quickly assessing concussion during games, the safety-first approach must be taken."
  20. Championship and League One clubs chase Bolton's Rob Hall

<!--url{0}-->A number of Championship and League One clubs are battling it out to land Bolton forward Rob Hall on loan, Sky Sports understands.

Bolton boss Dougie Freedman admitted earlier this month Hall could go out on loan to boost his chances of first-team action.

Hall has featured just once this term – against Bury in the Capital One Cup – and has spent the last few weeks in the development squad ranks.

The news has alerted several Championship and League One clubs who are keen to bring in the former West Ham youngster on a temporary basis.

Notts County are thought to have enquired about taking Hall on loan, but Bolton are standing firm on wage contribution for any loan and this is delaying any move for the player.
  21. I'm trying to figure what your nickname means, though I cannot figure it for the life of me. YC? NT could be a couple. Ah, we'll have to wait to see your response.

Welcome to Pride of Nottingham, I hope you enjoy visiting and engaging.

  23. Take a look at the deadline day deals happening around Europe and list your two best and worst ( or most surprising to make it fair on the player!)

  24. Supposedly we have signed Stephen McLaughlin on loan for a month, a replacement for Reece Brown. He's from Forest, a quick paced winger who featured in their cup game against Spurs.

I can't find anywhere to confirm this but I did hear it mentioned on BBC Radio Nottingham!

It's confirmed I'm not going mad! (thank god for that). He's officially signed - Story Here.
