  1. I've just had an email about the Lifeline Gala Night. This is the night when they make the big draw for the car and the £10,000 cash.

It is really disappointing however that they are now charging £25 a ticket! It does include a two course meal though with guest speaker Neil Warnock but in the past it has been free for the lifeline member and a nominal charge for a guest with Pie and chips (or something similar) thrown in. Mrs. H and myself have had some great nights down there and once won an executive box for eight people in the raffle!

But £50 for a night out is just too expensive which is such a shame as we'd love to go, I wonder how many other fans are priced out of this great night out.

  2. I am thinking our Grandson George is too young to have Roald Dahl books read to him. I read him some of "The Twits" which is about a particularly obnoxious couple. The husband calls his wife "you old hag", George decided it was a good idea to call his Granny the same, she wasn't amused.:unsure:

  3. This is a very welcomed aspect to Match Days! How perfect to welcome our little Magpies into Meadow Lane, this will hopefully progress to be a very popular addition.

Notts County fans may have noticed an addition to our matchday experience for the Peterborough United game in the form of our new flag bearers…

You can give a junior Notts County fan the chance to become a big part of a matchday here at Meadow Lane for our future games, including Stevenage, who visit on Saturday 24 August.

At every home match, flag bearers will welcome the team onto the pitch before kick-off before returning to their seat to cheer on the Magpies from the stands.

Becoming a flag bearer also allows access to the Man of the Match presentations in Wheeler's Suite after the full time whistle, along with two guests.

Something for @tonyhateley and his traveling band of merry grandchildren. :)

  4. Hello, this is Tony's early morning post.

I don't expect any of you will read this until well after mid day, you will either be recovering from excesses last night or getting ready for work or college etc.,

It looks like it's going to be a nice day again we have been really lucky this year with the weather, we are hoping it lasts a little longer as we have a few more camping trips to get in with our van. This Bank Holiday weekend we are off with the family to Norfolk and then early September we are off somewhere down south for two weeks (not sure where yet, possibly Isle of Wight). We were going to go to France but decided to stay is this country this time.

Sadly I will miss the Stevenage match, this does happen occasionally especially during the summer month when I am camping but it can't be helped so I hope you give them a good cheer for me.

What is everyone else up to? Off anywhere nice this bank holiday or just chillaxing at home?

It's going to be a busy afternoon for us as we have all four grandchildren, it is our grandaughters birthday soon so we are giving her a bit of a party, we are going for a summer fair theme and are setting up things in the garden for them to have a go at. Hook a duck, tin can alley, bran tub, ted bola (a variation of tombola but with Teddy's) and a "Grandad-a-grab" this will be a game where I hold my arm out with my hand as a claw and the kids have to direct me whilst I am blindfolded to grab a teddy, similar to the fairground grabber games. Granny has made a birthday cake in the shape of a rabbit and there will be the usual goodies to eat and games to play, It should be good fun but we will be exhausted come tonight.

  5. ......  It looks like I was totally wrong and was able to login with no problem.

    Best wishes,

    Mickeyr

  6. I cant remember if I wrote it on here or not, but me and my mum made a Dorset Pies flag over the summer and we planned to give it its first outing at Sheffield United the other week. Unfortunatly, for reasons I couldnt fathom and the stewards couldnt actually give me, my flag, along with I would say about six others was confiscated.

Watching the League Cup highlights from United's game with Burton Albion I noticed that Burton fans had quite a few flags in their end. I'm currently watching a game between the English and Scottish under 21s which is taking place at Brammal Lane and there are a number of flags in both the home and away sections!

I'm really quite annoyed. I know it could look pretty daft, people could think its just a flag get over it, but when you (well me AND my mum) spent quite a bit of time working on it and took the effort to travel half the length of the country to be at the game, its pretty dissapointing and rather frustrating to see others being allowed to have flags.

I've actually sent Sheffield United FC a polite email this evening inquiring as to the reasons for the confiscation of my flag and other Notts fans' flags.

Just out of interest, has anyone else on here had this problem before?

I at first put the decision down to the prescnence of the TV cameras but nobody checked to see if the wording on my flag was of an aggresive of offensive nature. The Scottish flags there tonight where even covering the advertising boards!

Sorry, rant over. Just really quite annoyed by it to be honest

  7. Fingers crossed we can go back to full strength after this clash.

Walsall will be wanting to no doubt keep their winning record, it's for Notts to go into the game and realize that we can get points out of such games. I'm not saying Walsall are easy, although they're in the group of teams we should be looking at defeating. I still think Liddle is out and I mentioned this previously, it might be worth throwing Labadie into our defense, which would allow Sheehan to be left back and Tempest to play a role in the midfield.

We could see Tempest dropped, although I honestly feel it's harsh to say he was poor. He only struggled at times and did well to be fair, his balls into the box against the Posh were inviting.

I see the game ending up as a draw, although I hope for 3 points.

@sadlad will be no doubt hoping for a win but for me it will be nice to meet up with again or at least I hope I get to say hello again.

  9. It just shows how much notice I take of the premiership I've just found out Mancini is no longer manager of Man City, when did that happen?

  10. In a South West Peninsula Div 1 West match on Saturday, Bude Town went 5-1 up against Vospers Oak Villa with twenty minutes remaining. Final score?

Bude Town 5-6 Vospers Oak Villa!

Where was that on Sky Sports Goals Express then

  11. Now, no doubt this is a very hard and demanding role to cover.

Good referee's don't grow on trees, just like good English players! They've got to be given a chance to step up and even sometimes they will make mistakes but it's got me wondering, how can we improve things?

There's some very good ref's in the non league, who are held back by an unfair system. I'd like to see it based on how ref's or assistants actually do, which would be unlikely but the current method isn't exactly working. You can forgive the odd mistake but not several in one game, that is just a joke.

  12. I almost had missed this, if it wasn't for @magpiejue. I've tuned in now, the fan on the notts panel seems to be pretty interesting. I think his thoughts are pretty spot on.

The elderly lady made me laugh LOL

I was sat near here and she's just as funny in person.

Ps. I am the Joe who was quoted regarding Yoann Arquin "If Arquin was more consistent he wouldn't be in the lower leagues. I think we can see more from him but he will be slow at times." :D

  13. One of our casual viewers/readers has passed away.

@liampie's just informed me of the sad news.

My thoughts go out to his family and friends, Rest In Peace Magwales :(

  14. This baffles me.

I'm a fan of CK but I do not understand this one bit.

5 recognised defenders (not counting Liddle) - and one being a youth (Hollis), SEVEN strikers, a weak midfield.

    What do we sign?

    Another striker.

    Genius. Not impressed.

  15. 1-1 at half-time.

Scotland's goal was a howler from Hart. (This seems to be a reoccuring theme of late)

England's a well taken chance from Walcott.

Also Rooney had a goal disallowed for 'offside', he was miles on.

Rooney and Gerrard seem to be linking well, although Rooney's touch is similar to Delroy Facey's at the moment.

Wilshire doing really well, as is Baines.

Welbeck is a waste of space, he is struggling even completing simple passes.

  16. I witnessed some absolutely disgusting behaviour on the "beach" in Nottingham market square earlier today.

I was walking by the sandy bit and saw a man and a woman having an almighty argument in front of loads of kids, suddenly the woman smacked the guy in the head and it all kicked off. There was a massive brawl and someone called the police. This poor copper turned up on his own and took his baton to the man, the guy managed to ****** it off him and began assaulting the copper AND his wife - unbelievable! What sort of example is that for impressionable kids?

Then out of nowhere a crocodile crept up and stole all the sausages.

    :rollonfloorlaughing:

  17. I have been calling him Showumni I have now found out the correct spelling is Showunmi, not much difference but I'm sure it is important to Enoch.

    Who else was guilty?

  18. Round 3 this weekend then. Those of you taking part know the drill by now but we'd be delighted (me in particular) to see a few more people joining in. You can see the other threads in the Prediction League section to get a good idea of how it works but essentially I'll post six fixtures every week and you just have to post your predictions on this thread by 1:30pm on Saturday.

    Scoring System Example:
My prediction - Notts County 2-1 Tranmere

Correct Score (game ends 2-1 to Notts) - 3 points
Correct result (Notts win, but not by a score of 2-1) - 1 point
Incorrect result (Notts draw or lose) - 0 points

    This Saturday's Fixtures:
    Derby County v Leicester City
    Millwall v Huddersfield Town

    Bristol City v Wolverhampton Wanderers
    Stevenage v Leyton Orient
    Cheltenham Town v Plymouth Argyle
    Rochdale v Chesterfield

    Good luck everybody! :)

  19. Was watching a football bloopers dvd when this own goal came on:

Very possibly the funniest own goal I've ever seen :rollonfloorlaughing:  :rollonfloorlaughing:

  20. @weymouthPIE accused me of hiding behind a keyboard when I make my bold statements about winning the prediction league. Well here I am talking to you all face to face (well almost). :rollonfloorlaughing:

    Knock yourselves out..

  22. Liverpool away anyone?

I have to say I had wanted us to focus on the League but this is just a fantastic draw, very promising and even if they was to beat us (which is most likely) just the experience would be great and you never know!!

  23. There was a thread somewhere about people having problems with their season cards, I can't find it now but I noticed on the mailing list a lot of people complaining and Mrs Trew came on to apologise and say the club were aware of the problem and it was in hand, she also admitted it cod have affected the attendance figure as turnstile operators were letting fans in without scanning cards.
