What do you hate about modern football? The lack of respect throughout the game - fans/clubs/players etc and the cost of games is concerning giving the little in return to those loyal supporters. At Notts it isn't all that bad, there's a good day out and the Meadow Lane Sports Bar is a great place to visit prior to games but it doesn't feel the same as it used to be. I also dislike Sky Sports with a passion, too much money and the control they have now is worrying.
Has now scored 3 goals in 3 games for Torquay.
Time for a recall? He's never really had a chance with Notts, could he do a job for us, what do you think?
Was just casually looking through Amazon when I decided to see what search results Notts County would bring. And I found this book:
This is the synopsis:
Has anyone heard of Mark Barry or this book before? It's had quite good reviews.

Notts have apparently acquired some heat lamps to help the grass grow on the Pavis side of the ground. The lamps were confiscated by police after being used to grow cannabis!

first thing is i wonder what the attendance will be? i think it will be pretty low and the game most likely scrappy. could win the game but i'm not sure we will tbh
hope the players think about how they impact matches.

Kiwomya was hoping for a win
County led at half-time at Meadow Lane following a terrific goal by skipper Neal Bishop after Orient had seen the better of the chances.
However, the visitors levelled midway through the second period when County defender Dean Leacock gave away a penalty with a rash challenge on Charlie MacDonald and substitute Kevin Lisbie converted the spot-kick with confidence to seal a point.
Kiwomya said the point was not enough at this stage of the season if the Magpies are going to push for a top-six place.
He said: "If we want to get to the play-offs these are the kind of games we need to win.
"We were disappointing first half. We defended too deep and let them have the ball and they began to dictate play. Neal's goal was the first time we had got into their final third and played a forward pass.
"We pressed them a bit higher in the second half and I think we had the better chances.
"I haven't seen it back but I've no complaints about the penalty. It gave them a foothold in the game.
"I know what we are lacking and I know what we need and I need to find that right player to get us some goals."

In the chairmans notes in the programme Ray Trew has restated his commitment to the club in the future. No doubt his notes will be published on this site later on by Joe.
This is good news the alternative doesn't bear thinking about.

He's back at Leicester. Tweeted this:
"Wanna say a big thanks to the Notts County fans for making me feel welcome. Shame it didn't work out but that's football."

Hopefully this won't turn into an ugly game, I'm a little concerned regarding what happened the last time we played them and the resulting conflict. I hope both sets of players respect each other and focus playing the game, it's certainly one on our day we could win. I didn't see them struggling to this degree, so there's obvious roots to explore in order to beat them. I hope Chris chooses a side that's more stronger on paper, I have nothing against the likes of Blyth but he didn't send out a message and I would of preferred to see Zoko or Arquin up front myself.
Hamza, I don't really have a concern with but the formation was also a little odd.
I would of thought Chris would of changed things, gone away from Curle's tactics and set his own stamp on the side but we seem to be rotating between Curle's tactics.
1-1 (if we're bright eyed then we could easily win - as could they)

I don't know! Some players will moan about anything, the ref wants this bloke to take a corner but he's moaning because of a bit of water. ![]()

Having put a few what some might consider negative posts on I thought I would put on a more positive post.
Are you a lifeline member? Do you buy a 50-50 ticket at the match? These are important revenues of income for the club and can pay dividends as I have found.
A couple of years ago I was surprised to receive a phone call from my wife whilst I was at work, fearing the worst (because she never phoned me at work) I asked her what was wrong and she said nothing was wrong in fact quite the opposite, the postman had just been and we had received a check for £1,000 from Notts County. I never check the lifeline numbers so was really pleasantly suprised when I won the top prize. We had a nice holiday that year.
Similarly I always buy a 50-50 ticket and have had two wins in recent years. The first time I was with my son so I shared it with him we had about £280 each, the second time I was on my own but it was a night match so not so much but did go home with just over £300.
I also once won a raffle at the lifeline gala dinner and won an executive box for a match of my choice, so me and 7 friends and family got to watch a match in style all for the price of a raffle ticket.
So you can support the club in all sorts of ways and benefit at the same time. Anyone else been lucky?

We got to the ground very early, normally the shops would be somewhere to time waste but I can appreciate a nice little rest now, the children also needed to calm down a little. (not that they did) When we arrived at Meadow Lane we was the first few people around and went straight into an empty sports bar, then about 20 minutes into it Ralph and some cameramen with media passes came in and a few minutes later they left to my delight!
Then they returned and my worst fear was confirmed, recording! I was half tempted to put my PoN T-Shirt on but decided to opt out of it.
Anyone know why they was filming?

I was saddened to seeing the players being booed during the game, at half time and at full time against Preston.
OK, I was as frustrated as anyone at the level of performance and had a moan to the person next to me and even come on here and moan about it but to boo the players especially during the game is in my opinion counter productive. They know they are having a bad game and don't choose to go out there and deliberately lose to wind the fans up. So let's give them a break and try and support them through the bad patches, encouragement works far better than booing. If fans really feel the need to boo then I wish they would do it after the final whistle.

With Julian Kelly looking doubtful, Cofie unlikely and Dean Leacock suspended (10 Yellow cards), Notts will face a difficult trip to Crawley with only 3 points separating the two sides.

County extend unbeaten run
Crawley created more clear-cut chances and Mike Jones was wastefully off target at the far post from Mustapha Dumbuya's cross.
Jamie Proctor's cross was then deflected on to his own crossbar by County defender Haydn Hollis in the 69th minute.
Crawley threatened early on when a goal-bound 20-yard shot by former Swansea striker Proctor was turned round the post by visiting goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski.
Bialkowski twice denied Jake Taylor and smothered Matt Sparrow's close range effort.
Notts midfielder Gary Liddle was booked for chopping down Nicky Adams just before the interval and from the resulting free-kick Sparrow blazed wastefully over.
Crawley continued to carry the most threat after the break and Adams had a low shot saved after a surging run from Mike Jones.
Home manager Richie Barker introduced three attacking players in a bid to pep up his mis-firing front line, but the result leaves the Red Devils with only one win from their last 11 home league games.

I was talking to a chap at the match on Saturday and he said that when Curle and his two assistants were sacked it was purely a money saving exercise as Notts are in financial difficulties. According to him we were never going to appoint another manager and CK was always going to get the job because he was cheap. He also pointed to the transfer of Hughes and the failure to sign a suitable replacement as another example which backed up his theory.
I do hope this isn't true as I couldn't bear another term in administration with all the worries that brings.
Any thoughts?

Tomorrow,Wed 6/3/13 Notts entertain Leyton Orient who are just one place and two points lower down the table. It is therefore vitally important for Notts to put in a good show and get another 3 points to keep above Orient and try to close the gap towards a playoff place. It may be necessary to'grind' out a result but whatever COME ON NOTTS.Meanwhile I'm watching Man U on tv and listening to Rams away at table topping Cardiff. We need some points as we are in danger of being dragged into the relegation battle.

I used to hate him with a passion, now I'm older I actually admire him. I think this is a great video, hopefully one Super Ram will enjoy. Why don't we produce more cloughs? I think he did great with Derby. Love how he speaks about his players! Many of todays managers could learn a thing from him. (including Nigel)

With another Notts Alumni on the way, I thought I'd ask this question:
Who's your favourite still active ex-Notts player (by that I mean someone who is still playing professionally or semi-pro)? And if you want to add a little more, why are they your favourite and what is your favourite memory of them at Meadow Lane?
I'd have to say Lee Hughes, because he was just amazing for us and got us so many goals, so much so that it's such a shame to have to call him an ex-player. Favourite memory would have to be him getting the first ever opposition goal at the Juventus Arena to draw us level, literally history in the making, and boy was he happy about it!
