Well a lot has happened while I have been away, Curle sacked, over the river McLeish walked, Notts in the High Court, we've lost a game and drawn a game and signed a new striker. I also noticed that I didn't get enough votes to win the main prize booo!!! All that canvassing and kissing babies was to no avail. Ha Ha.
Now where to start.
Disappointed that Curle was sacked, I thought we were going in the right direction and felt a bit sorry for him. I don't want to criticise Ray but I do think he has jumped the gun, what happened to the stability he was talking about creating!
I'm not surprised agent McLeish walked, what a shambles they are in over the river.
The new striker sounds half decent, at least he scored, lets hope he carries on doing the business.
Anyway off to peruse the rest of the forum, see you around.
Notts County: Alan Judge 'sick' of manager sackings
"I am just sick of it now," Judge told BBC Radio Nottingham. "I have only been here two and a half seasons and that is my sixth manager.
"I don't know what is happening to the stability they want to have. They have to stick with it.
"Eventually they have to stick with the manager. They cannot keep doing it."
Curle was in charge for less than a year and left Meadow Lane with the Magpies 10th in League One and five points from a play-off position.
First-team coaches Colin Lee and Colin West also left the club and Chris Kiwomya is now in caretaker charge.
Chairman Ray Trew said a combination of poor performances and falling attendances were behind the decision to change manager.
But captain Neal Bishop told BBC Radio Nottingham he backed Judge in the call for stability.
"In three and a half years I have seen off 10 managers," Bishop said.
"We were in an indifferent run of form but overall we felt we were on the right track. The players are all disappointed.
"We could see we had had the right man in charge. Some people had said the manager was too close to the players but that's a load of rubbish; he was hard but fair.
"I have seen Judgey's comments and I fully support him. But we are professionals and we have to get on with on it."
Judge, who is out of contract in the summer and seems likely to leave, said the club is crying out for stability.
"I know some of the fans weren't happy," Judge said.
"It's maybe 20 or 30 fans who have complained and they have got their wish and got the manager sacked and that shouldn't be happening.
"I don't think they understood the great work he was doing behind the scenes here and how he put the staff together and things like that.
"He was doing great work and, as Colin Lee said, we were three quarters of the way through. We just needed a couple of new strikers. I think we jumped the gun."
Lee told BBC Radio Nottingham the sacking came as a huge surprise as the management team were convinced they were doing a good job.
He said: "We were trying to implement a style of play which I think we have achieved and when you look at the stats, in 49 league games we have only lost 11 games and that stat stands up to anything.
"We felt we were three quarters of a way through a job. I think we were two or three players away from being a really good team.
"We tried to cover those positions. It was blatantly obvious to everyone that the strikeforce was not good enough and we knew that.
"We knew what we wanted but they were the final pieces of the jigsaw and unfortunately we won't get the opportunity to put them in. That's the disappointing thing.
"Not being able to complete the job is a big disappointment. It's such a shame that we cannot see it through."
I wonder how much truth there is in the article, the blame lies on everybody not just the board.

You have signed a very a talented young lad from us on loan.
He's got good control, he can plays on the wings which he has for our youth/reserve team. He'll out run most players with his pace, so fingers crossed he'll be a good addition to your squad. I can't find anywhere confirming this yet

What on earth is happening with the club!
I have been a fan since my husband introduced me to NCFC nearly 8 years ago, and it has been one hell of a roller coaster There have seemed to be more downs than ups too, I must add. Then I just read the official club statement about our chairman being in court tomorrow regarding the winding up petition. Personally I must have forgotten about this, as I would have thought this would have been commented on during December when this was issued. But it seems Notts have ALL the bad luck.
Whether it is with managers, munto, players on and off the pitch antics, issues with staff at the ground on match days (a personal issue we had many times regarding my little boy and whether or not he was allowed in) ... I do love Notts but I am finding that this love is really being strained of late. I hope all goes well with Mr Trew etc, as this club really needs something positive off the pitch too.
The bickering between fans, people at the club etc lately has been awful. I personally have not been able to afford to go the matches for a few years now. This isn't because I don't wish too, but purely a financial issue, and for people to then claim that myself (and other fan's who cannot get to matches) do not have as much right to comment on the club is despicable Fortunately this does not happen on this site as we all support each other. However I have been seeing this on other sites, as well as comments made in the press!
Anyway, sorry for the rant but this has really been bugging me lately

Five years ago this week, the Premier League put forward plans to create a new round of fixtures to be played overseas. The idea was discarded fairly quickly, amid national and international condemnation, but since then there have been several developments in European football which have seen the Italian and Spanish Supercups exported overseas. This article looks at whether the English game could follow in their footsteps. Please have a look and comment!

Kiwomya happy with County reply
But the Magpies' caretaker manager was pleased with the second-half response - and his new loan signing.
The visitors dominated the opening 45 minutes with a composed display but were left to rue not making the most of it.
The only goal in the first-half came late on from Alex skipper Luke Murphy who scored from the penalty spot after Gavin Mahon had tripped Ajay Leitch-Smith inside the box.
However, the hosts were revitalised in the second period and levelled through on-loan Manchester United striker John Cofie, making his debut, with a terrific 20-yard finish.
Kiwomya said: "It was a game of two halves really. First half we stood off them and got overloaded at the back and it was an easy game.
"I said to them at half-time, 'why are you standing off them?' They were coming 25 yards into our half and we were still standing off them so I told them not to be scared of them and we made a tactical change and it helped the team.
"The lads stuck with it and we were so close to getting the three points in the end. It was a great finish by John Cofie to equalise and I thought he worked tirelessly. We needed something and I had heard good things about him and it showed out there.
"I'm pleased with a point. I thought we played well second half and bossed the game. They are a good team and I thought in the end there was only one team going to win it."

A week ago Notts were looking to gain 3 points away to bottom club Hartlepool. They lost and subsequently Keith Curle was dismissed but the bad run continued against Stevenage. All this makes Saturdays match vital to kick start your season.A win would go a long way to restoring fans faith,a draw would also be acceptable, another defeat doesn't bear thinking about.I personally think you are due a slice of good luck and if the stand in manager can get the team concentrating right from the kick off and give the forwards some 'shooting boots' think you could sneak a win.

I would start Notts with this formation on Saturday against
Crewe. I'd ideally have 4 defenders and I would make sure to instruct them to get tighter, man up to the opposition and make sure they tried to force them into the centre of the park. (rather than into the flanks) We seem to allow them to pass through easily when we do. I'd have Liddle and Boucaud in midfield, with Judge playing an advanced role in which he can offer support to them when required. I'd get our left & right back(s) to go advanced when possible to provide crosses or support our attack but I wouldn't want them to always be up there. Jeff Hughes behind our Striker (playing in a forward/wing role) same with Zoko. Arquin would be my first choice but he would have to play his part.
My preference with this formation would be to make sure we control the game, it would provide us width but at times when needed we could be narrow. Instead of attacking solely down the flanks I would make use of the center of the park.
Obviously I left out Jamal Campbell-Ryce. I feel he would provide good cover if I needed to inject pace or just trickery. He could replace either Hughes or Zoko but could even drop into Alan Judges position so this would be fairly flexible.
Although it only features one true striker the options of being supported by the two advanced wing/forwards would allow this to change as and when suited.
What formation would you play?

Looking at the forecast for the next few days and heavy snow is expected Friday, I can't see the game being on even if it doesn't snow temperatures aren't expected to reach much above freezing so the pitch will be unplayable.
Poor Ray must be tearing his hair out, Sheffield Utd would have attracted a big crowd for a Saturday, cash flow must be getting to be a bit of a problem with all these postponements. Lets hope we get to see some football soon.

Fabian Spiess is another of our own youth team products coming through the

Spiess made his professional debut on the final day of the 2011.12 season, replacing former stopper Stuart Nelson between the sticks.
He came on as a substitute when no.1 Bart Bialkowski was injured during a game against Leyton Orient.
The young keeper made a number fine saves despite being beat twice during the game. He followed up with an impressive first start debut and kept a clean sheet as we beat struggling Portsmouth. Young Fabian Spiess than again started against Hartlepool United where he again played very well despite seeing a further two goals scored past him.
A young very exciting prospect who is a joy to watch. He really manages to remain calm and collected which gives a safe feeling. He's personally a keeper I see being a strong contender for our no.1 jersey which will have to see us fight of interest from top Premier League sides such as both Manchester United/City and Arsenal.
This thread is to discuss Fabian Spiess's progress so if you have something to share about him please post it here.

Vote for your choice 15 members have voted
Please vote for the member whom you feel deserves the prize, it's very tough and even I struggled to determine a fair list which is why we have increased the amount of candidates to 8.
Note; I don't expect anybody will but please don't vote for yourself. (This would forfeit the contestant from the main prize and the raffles)
Happy voting and good luck!

Liam Mitchell is one of our own youth team products coming through the ranks

I personally rate him, although I will openly admit to thinking Fabian is a much better prospect. None the less it is nice to see us having two reliable youngsters in our ranks. I personally hope to see him gain more league experience at some point as I think this would benefit his devolopement.
He has a bright future where ever this may be. It would be nice for a youth team player to break into the first team and cement a starting position and in many ways it's easier for a keeper. Will Liam be our future number one?
This thread is to discuss Liam Mitchell progress, so if you have something to share about him please post it here.

Keith Curle: Notts County wants Championship striker
The Magpies missed out on former Ipswich Town forward Jason Scotland, who instead joined Barnsley last week.
But Curle told BBC Nottingham that he is still hopeful of making a bargain price addition to his squad.
"That shows the type of quality we want to bring in - we want a player with Championship ability," Curle said.
"We were hopeful of getting Jason Scotland, but unfortunately the finances were not correct for both parties and he has gone to Barnsley and scored his first goal in the Championship to help them out."
Magpies chairman Ray Trew has agreed to invest more money despite posting on a fans' messageboard earlier this month that he could not spend more to back their League One promotion push because of salary restrictions.
"At the minute it is not about the amount of money, but about the availability of the money," Curle said.
"I had a conversation with Ray and he said to identify the targets and give them to Jim (chief executive Jim Rodwell) and if there is a financial deal that can be done that fits in the salary, then we will try to do everything to sign them.
"We are mindful when someone is prepared to put their hand in their pocket to give you the money that you are striving for, we are not going to waste it."
Its good that Curle wants a championship striker, it also shows that Joe was right for writing the article regarding Jason Scotland (Its a shame that finances were not correct for both parties). Its also a positive that we're not trying to waste money.

Okay, so if you was you choose songs based on their message or by title which you could related to Notts County. (our for our resident opposition fans their team) What would your 10 tracks be?
- Don't Stop Believin' - Journey (Ever so important for any fan)
- Sunchyme - Dario G (Just very upbeat sound, positive energy)
- Eye of the Tiger - Survivor (Just for the hell of it, who wouldn't?)
- The Upwards War and the Down Turned Cycle - Less than Jake (Reminds so much of some Notts fans)
- Reason To Believe - Crowned King (Everyone needs a reason to believe)
- You Really Got Me - The Kinks (Another must, I thank Super Ram for this)
- Dare - Stan Bush (Classic transformers song from the cartoon movie, if I need to reflect on something this is the song I choose to remind me)
- Break My Stride - Matthew Wilder (Good times, bad times.. Nothing's going to slow me down - Gotta keep moving!)
- Jaded (These Years) - Mest (Another song that reminds me to reflect on life)
- Tubthumping (I get knocked down) - Chumbawamba (When I hear it, I think of our times at the bottom of league two)
Obviously there could be many more I could of added and I'm sure I missed some very good one's, this might not get many responses but for those who read please consider it. I'm sure there's songs which remind you Notts. County Notts County, County's The Name, Football's The Game
