Lee Hughes hit his second hat-trick of the season as Notts County hammered 10-man Northampton at Meadow Lane.Alex Dyer put the Cobblers in front from close range before a header from debutant Matt Ritchie and a smart strike from Hughes turned things round.
Hughes added another header and Ritchie hit his second before Chris McCready saw red for a foul on Karl Hawley, with Hughes scoring the resulting penalty.
Andrew Holt hit a late consolation for the managerless Cobblers.
Good result to sum the game up but I can't help but feel we should be doing better in other games. I'm not expecting us to walk the league or win every game for that matter. We just appear to storm games, scrape a win or a draw and not bother turning up at all. We should be more stronger as a team and for whatever reason I hope we try to get a bit more consistent.

An 85th-minute strike from substitute Richard Walker earned Burton a deserved point and ended Notts County's 100% home record. The Magpies edged in front with their first effort on target when Karl Hawley raced on to a clever pass by Jamie Clapham and chipped over Artur Krysiak.
Burton equalised when Walker controlled the ball neatly in the box and turned to fire past Kasper Schmeichel.
And Burton's Jacques Maghoma almost won it but his late effort hit the post.
Close ending, it's always hard playing local derby matches and burton are equal to the points. It's a shame we didn't manage to secure the points, yet a draw isn't all that bad.

Barnet 1 v 0 Notts County
Very unlucky that the only goal went in within the 90th minute, I haven't yet seen the highlights but I've heard we played okay and kasper went mental with conceding the goal. LOL

Interesting outcome as I hear boro fans was chanting "sven" during the cup game. I don't think it quite worked though, since forest managed to win for the first time since the new season began.
My friends will be hoping a league win will come soon..
Forest 2 - Boro 1
Poor result for them, good for our arch rivals.

Sven Goran Eriksson is set to be reunited with Sol Campbell in a sensational swoop for Notts County. The 61-year-old Swede has targeted free agent Campbell to be at the forefront of the Magpies' promotion push.
And the former England boss is convinced he's worked his legendary charm on Campbell to persuade the 34-year-old to drop down to League Two.
I'll never argue he's not a good player, nor will I say we don't need him. I do however feel his wages could go towards younger players who could possibly go on to be of more use. He'll only have a few seasons in him, if we go up it'll draw his time closer because the higher leagues need defenders who are wise and fast.
Sol's a good guy but he's awfully slow.
I'm torn between "yay" though. Like I say it'll be a good signing if we use him and he can keep up with his performances but we need young blood too..

Since buying our new shirt, I feel the re-work to the logo has made it look nicer and it's sort of grown on me. Originally, it had no yellow on at all and the shape didn't have a point which went beneath the "Notts -1862- County" but anyway, it's grown on me.
I created a poll for views regarding this, I still prefer the customization we had made to the old logo but the new one's well "update" and it is us. So, I've changed it to see what it looks like to give us a better idea on the old question should we change it or keep our old one. Voting
Personally I will stand by what the fans vote, although we don't have many please consider giving your opinions on this change.
Thanks

After reading I am in utter shock I can't beleive it what sort of utter scum is there in this world that people would be so jealous of this lads career as to stab him in both legs

So last night many of our fans and players was dealt a major wake up call. I had been listening to the match on the radio, I can't believe we did try to counter chesterfields tactics but I do have to give them credit they played. Two pens in 3 minutes! that's all we lost by had our defense been stronger and less pressure felt, well we might of been lucky.
Well played chesterfield.

I've heard a lot of bad comments in regards to the Macclesfield, especially their manager.
It seems when we played them, we've come off worse and despite the FA and the football league "attempting to kick down on this" it appears it's still off the radar.
Neal Bishop is rumoured to of broken a rib, while Graeme Lee is just speculated to be out for a few games.
I really wished we had someone who had attended the game, as I'd like to hear a better view of the game but all in the football league should look into any challenges that injure players. It's not a spite my dummy out thing but it should be much cleaner, the gentleman game that used to be is no more and while this happens it'll just be a case of dirty tactics.

JOHNNIE Jackson will today have a medical at Notts County and is expected to complete his move to Meadow Lane from Colchester United. The former Spurs trainee – who was linked with a move to Nottingham Forest in 2004 – had talks with boss Ian McParland last Friday and has already agreed terms with the club.
He handed in a transfer request at Colchester at the end of last month, in frustration at his lack of first-team opportunities with the League One club.
Jackson joined the U's in June 2006, after being released by Tottenham having played 20 times in the Premier League for the London club.
He played more than 100 league games mostly during two seasons in the Championship and scored 13 goals for the Essex club.
I don't know much about him myself, supposedly he fits what we have already but more skill full. It's a good thing names mean nothing in football though, with a name like "Johnnie Jackson" LOL
Good to see another player brought in.

WHISTLES BLOWN!
Sounded like a blooming good match for the magpies! Kasper Schmeichel didn't play, but was in the stand with Peter Trembling and Sven-Goran Eriksson. With goals scored by Ravenhill (13), Hunt (45), Wright (o.g 50) and Westcarr (90).
All in all the promising start to the season continues!

News about a new signing....
SVEN-Goran Eriksson has brought keeper Kasper Schmeichel to Notts County in what is almost certain to be a club-record deal from Manchester City.
The 22-year-old today signed a five-year deal at Meadow Lane.
Notts were refusing to reveal the fee involved, but it is understood to stretch into seven figures – which would eclipse the £640,000 the Magpies paid for Tony Agana in 1991.

It would be great to hear your views about the signing of a well known player.

Notts County 0 - 1 Doncaster
Doncaster edged an even encounter thanks to James Coppinger's goal to secure a place in the second round of the Carling Cup.
James Coppinger collected a neat pass from Lewis Guy to beat Russell Hoult and put Doncaster ahead with their first shot on target.
The Magpies threw men forward but striker Lee Hughes had a firm effort saved by goalkeeper Benjamin Smith.
And despite late pressure the League Two side could not hit back.
I hear it was good game for us. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/league_cup/8188165.stm
Hit the post twice, I'm not down though. I just wished we could of made it to the second round because those jealous fans will be loving this. Oh well we can focus more on promotion until the fa cup comes!

Hi guys although I'm not a die hard Magpies fan I like football in general and I think that the best fans in the country are in League 1 and 2.
I am a MANCHESTER UNITED season ticket holder 10 years now but if half our supporters had the enthusiasm that supporters in League 1 and 2 had it would be a great for us

In with the new out with the old emblem? 2 members have voted
This will remain for discussion for a few weeks, so I'd like to ask people to cast their views on this poll as it will decide weather or not it's important that we change the old emblem for the new one.
I know many dislike it. (I'm one of those)
Truly because I don't feel it fits our clubs image, no gold or yellow! Plus I've always had a soft spot for the magpies which as always been our focus point as proudly displayed.
However, though I dislike like and feel disappointed it is a big part of our club and it's not based on my feelings alone. It's down to all those who join us here at notts-county.co.uk and whatever the outcome it will be followed. (lets just hope it's not a bore draw!!!) ![]()

Hi,
Here's a little bit about myself..
I'm 22, I'm married to cheeky and I live in nottingham and have done all my life. The only places I've been to was france (school trip) and skegness (holiday), so I'm very much a proud brit. Also proud parent of two wonderful children Jake and Ellie ![]()
My passion for county started from a young age, my grandfather was football mad and I take a lot after him.
I recall going to some games, especially the anglo italian cup finals (the one we won) was a great game and as well as playoff games which seem long a go. The last season game I went to was back when big same was in charge of us. Sadly I didn't return due to feeling it would be strange with the absents of my grandfather, although I have been meaning to more than once. (I did go to the derby friendly tho)
Hopefully this place will grow as does notts, my passion for this club as been un-channeled for far to long.
~Joey
