John Bostock: “It’s not how you start that counts, it’s how you continue and how you finish”

PON_News

John Bostock, the Notts County player, spoke about the character and belief of his team ahead of their away game against Doncaster Rovers this weekend.

In an interview, Bostock talked about how Notts County have taken a lot of character from last season into this season.

"People know if you watch us play we're quite known for our style, try to control games and break things down, and it's quite clear," he said.

But Bostock emphasised that character and hard work are just as important as style. "If you can't match that with character belief, hard work and all those kind of words that aren't maybe the most attractive qualities but are the most important qualities, it doesn't marry well you know," he said.

Bostock also spoke about how Notts County nearly let their lead slip twice last season in the playoffs but overcame adversity. "Yet in spite of adversity we overcame it," he said.

"You know and so when we look around the change room and see faces that were with you in that last year, the new faces that have come on board this year, the way that we're led by the staff and gaffer, we have a lot of character you know."

Notts County started this season on a rough patch against Sutton but bounced back well. Bostock believes that it's not how you start that counts, but how you continue and how you finish. "It's not how you start that counts it's how you continue and how you finish," he said.

With their character and belief, Notts County are ready to take on Doncaster Rovers this weekend and hopefully come away with three points. Bostock also talked about the importance of having the support of their fans.

"Yeah, I can't tell you how much it means to us as players to have fans like we have, travelling loud," he said.

Bostock also spoke about the journey that Notts County went on last season with their supporters. "You know it was an emotional roller coaster at times, a season that you probably won't see again," he said. "And so to have them behind us week in week out home and away it means the world."

Notts County are confident that they can get a result against Doncaster Rovers this weekend. With their character, belief, and hard work, they are ready to take on the challenge.

i know sometimes we will start of shaky even with a decent squad, i think much of the disappoint with the start comes from the expectations of us going strong again after our promotion last season but we need to continue with the amazing support we have seen in games. john bostock is right about what he says, we can still finish strong, lets be patient and try to give our all so that we might be able to encourage notts to achieve our hopes.

Highlighting John Bostock's sentiment, "And having their unwavering support, both at home and away every week, holds immense significance."

This underlines the remarkable dedication of attending fans; their continued backing is crucial, and eventually, positive outcomes will follow suit. The previous season carried an almost surreal quality, verging on the magical, a sentiment I, as a devoted Notts fan, had never previously encountered. While I may not have firsthand recollections of our previous promotion, we are faced with an enduring struggle to attain similar heights. Let's rally behind the team, journey to Doncaster, and return with our deserved recompense. With any luck, that will encompass three points and yet another unblemished defensive record.

I believe this upcoming match against Doncaster Rovers will serve as a pivotal examination of our performance in away games. Doncaster should present a fairly competent opposition, although they have had their own uncertain beginning. I hold a high degree of confidence in Notts, and, echoing sentiments expressed in the match discussion, I am eager to witness John Bostock's return to the field.

I am also very optimistic about the prospect of Richard Brindley being positioned between the other two central defenders. I believe he can effectively execute his role in that position and contribute to bolstering our defensive capabilities. Additionally, I am sincerely hopeful that Macaualay Langstaff will secure his inaugural goal for us in League Two.

Regardless of the outcome, it is crucial that we maintain our unwavering support, which has been nothing short of remarkable, as we move forward.

No truer words spoken by one of Notts County's own, John Bostock. It’s imperative to remember that a season isn't defined by a single match.

It's how we persevere through the tough fixtures, rebound after a loss, and finish not just with success but also with dignity that matters. The adversity faced last season and the support of the fans through that time only exemplify the character of the club. As a fan, I believe that we have what it takes to meet the challenge the Doncaster Rovers pose.

It reminds us of a crucial aspect in every game, the mindset. A rough start could easily demoralise the players and fans, but the mental strength shown by the team to bounce back against Sutton underscores their solid character. Moreover, the support from fans isn't a one-way street; it also strengthens the bond between the team and their supporters, thus creating an indomitable spirit. This spirit will serve well in the upcoming Doncaster Rovers faceoff.

Turn those adversities into character-building moments! We've seen that happen with Notts, and John Bostock has simply put it in words. Let's take heart from this message, support our lads, and look forward to an emphatic finish.

His words hit the nail on the head. Football goes beyond style and tactics. It's about resilience, belief and unity. Tenuous starts should not deter us. Let's march forward, COYP!

Certainly, if we secure a good position at the end of the season, those currently expressing dissatisfaction and failing to recognize the club's progress will likely be content by season's end, erasing their earlier stance. John Bostock aptly notes that the ultimate measure is the final position attained. The club merits a better standing after the previous season's efforts, but the presence of misguided complainers has hindered us for years. Thankfully, our dedicated following supports the team fervently, quelling negativity.
