Mark Fotheringham

So has anyone's opinion of Fotheringham changed after yesterday? I know he has had a lot of stick from fans who say he is not good enough for this level but I think he had possibly his best game since joining Notts, it seems that SD is bringing the best out of him.

I couldn't see his celebration properly from where I was sat in the Pavis but it looked like he was enjoying celebrating his goal with the fans.

I also liked his interview after the game, he always comes across as very genuine and enthusiastic about the club, he mentioned that he was a big friend of MacGregor and said that he would cry if he didn't come back on loan.

What are others thoughts?

He's someone that I don't necessarily say bad things about, it's more that he hasn't done much to stand out for me and can seem anonymous sometimes during games. If he can keep chipping in with the odd goal and maintain his quality distribution, I see no reason to not have him in the side (given the current squad)

I've been pretty defensive of him, although the last couple of weeks I did sort of become disillusioned by him. I suggested to a friend that perhaps pre-season he played better because he featured more into the game, early touches of the ball and he influenced things. Players take a step back sometimes when others come in and do what they was but better.

McGregor and Grealish, took over with attacking phases and he sort of drifted towards the back.

Perhaps now we will see him shine a little more, as he did seem like a reliable player earlier on and if we can get him to contribute as he did yesterday, I see people responding. Yet it doesn't change the fact at times it's like he isn't playing!

Fotheringham needs to prove himself, he as been a let down if I am perfectly honest.

He goes missing in moments when we need him, plus he as this ability to give the ball a way and people notice. I think @notts-joe sums it up well, he needs a bit more time on the ball to steady his nervous. His pace is what lets him down, then he flutters around. My opinion has not changed but I would see out his contract!

I was pleased to see Fotheringham score yesterday, but I don't think he's been as big a let down as Haynes, who we were supposed to be "pleasantly surprised by".

i like him, his passion speaks volumes but his football does not always do the same thing.

foths did well yesterday, its only right he gets credit for that. its a shame the majority will only be saying this because he scored, i mean facebook for example. not anyone here.

Prior to yesterday I thought his best game was against Burton - when he played in a more advanced role and Liddle got his chances the central/defensive midfield role.

I saw enough in those 2 games to recognise that he has some talent but there's still something slightly worrying about his temperament and consistency.

He is a tad error prone, gets caught flat footed too often and lacks mobility - sadly, a few well placed passes and even the odd goal doesn't compensate for that. He's not the mug many suggested but he is still not my idea of a midfield general. It will take a few more positive and inspiring performances before I am swayed in his favour?
