Notts County can confirm that midfielder David Bell has left the club by mutual consent.

Bell, who moved to Meadow Lane in the summer, made 13 appearances for the club this season, with his last outing coming in the home game against Wolverhampton Wanderers in November.

Notts would like to thank David for his efforts at the club and to wish him all the best for the future.

Looks like Derry is making the appropriate changes to be able to bring people in (hopefully), or at least steady the finances for Ray

What a waste of wages that was. Well done for all involved getting rid of him, but I question why he was signed in the first place. Nearly everyone at the time said he wouldnt play alot due to injury. Looks like that was a good call.

He will retire at the end of the year anyway if the rumours about him are true.

It's part a shame and part a blessing, the shame is that he's a good player and when fit is worth a place within the team. The blessing is that he struggles with injury and fatigue. At Walsall he looked like a powerhouse and his crossing was a joy to watch but sadly we (CK) decided to throw to much hopes on him and I can't say I've seen him since.

With him not featuring as much as a player of his type should, I think it's a good thing in truth that he is moving on. Good Luck to him! He'd make a good coach, especially if he can help youngsters understand how to use their ability.

i liked him, a little disappointed but he was not featuring and thats just wasteful.

hope derry makes some signings, its looking like we might not. when does the free transfer deadline end?

Yeah he wasn't too bad at the start of the season, but clearly Derry's having a clear-out and, well, if he's not featured and is not going to feature, then it's the manager's prerogative.

Forgot we had him to be honest. Fele for him, every time he started to look like he was getting back to full fitness he'd suffer another injury

Injury prone and as such he had to go we can't afford passengers, hopefully this will give SD some room to manoeuvre and bring in fresh faces.

Who?

I heard over the grapevine that hes signed for a non league team, probably wise we let him go.

Bell reveals the reasons behind his move. - Article

'The one-time Norwich City, Coventry City and Luton Town ace played with current Linnets Gary Mills and Rob Duffy during his early days with Rushden & Diamonds. That’s where he first met Lynn boss Gary Setchell and the Irish player admits the trio played a huge part in him returning to Norfolk to play his football.'

Good for him I say, he clearly wants to make a difference and I believe he joined us hoping to be able to help. It's a shame, I miss playing football and after my dodgy knee I would certainly hope one day I might be able to play properly with my children. I enjoyed playing with @super_ram, even though I could beat him and my brother on my own. hehe

It's not always about playing wanting to take a pay packet for not doing something. I hope he impacts the club and finds his fitness, at that level I am sure he will be fitter than the majority he will play against.

I hope this pays off, we could be left pretty weak if anything happens to the senior squad. Will we sign anyone?

I agree. I think from a Notts perspective, it was a poor move to sign him and I question who sanctioned the signing, but nobody likes the idea of a player not being able to continue his career. His new move should be a good stepping stone for him, enabling him to play on for a while yet. Glad there is a happy ending for all parties. Notts needed rid and he needed out to change his daily routines. Result for both me thinks.
