New training ground

its great news, it also makes sense to use the facilities with the uni. i dont know why we did not stick with them the first time, after basford United did not work out. sharing forests was useful, but if we can guarantee that we share the facilities issues it really would be ideal.

This is fantastic news & it is certainly showing that the owners are commited to continuous improvement of the Club.

Clubs in the Championship would love to have the facilities that Notts have. It's important that the facilities match the ambition & that is certainly going to be the case.

It all sounds very promising, but I just hope it’s something long term and not dropped after a couple of seasons. If we’re going to work with them, then it should really be our training base for the next five to ten years.

We’ve moved around a lot since we were last in League One, from the National setup at Burton to Arnold and so on. It would be good to finally have a proper home.

Does this mean the club has decided against owning its own training facilities? That’s what has been said at the last two fan forums, and I understand it would be a big financial commitment.

I don’t think it’s a bad idea, but I find it interesting because investments like this usually signal a change in direction. Sharing with the University of Nottingham makes sense, and hopefully, it’s a step towards funding our own facilities in the future. If the Championship is the long-term goal, having our own setup would be ideal, but this is still positive news.

I still think this is the eventual end goal, but I seem to remember Joe Palmer saying green space was at a premium so finding somewhere affordable and suitable has been a massive challenge.

In the meantime this deal is basically the next best thing, how many other League 2 clubs will have a replica of their home pitch? That is pretty awesome. Although I would argue maybe having a poorer quality pitch as well wouldn't go a miss because in League 2 our pitch is more of a rarity than the norm!

Not only is going to be a great training facility, all this adds to the package to how Notts can sell themselves to potential signings too. I can imagine it will really wow players especially if they've just visited one of the less glamorous L1/L2 clubs shall we say!

It’s fine as it is, but with shared facilities, you have to trust the owner and hope the agreement works in your favour.

We don’t need to own training facilities right now, but we should keep an eye on how much money is being put into the pitches. If too much is spent, it could end up being a waste. It’s just something to think about.

It’s where we trained last season, on the furthest back pitch, and it makes sense to keep using it.

Even at a higher level, as long as we have privacy and the facilities meet our needs, sharing is still a viable option. If we ever want to upgrade or make changes that the University of Nottingham won’t allow, then it would make sense to have our own setup.

Spot on @menzinho

As long as the facilities are good and the players can train, I think we’ll be fine. Sharing and having an agreement with somewhere like the University of Nottingham seems like a smart choice. We were never going to be able to stay at Forest, as they will want the facilities for themselves, and it would have been difficult. Owning our own at this level seems unlikely.

I love this exchange and the sarcasm. It makes you wonder if the fans who question the Reedtz ambition have actually noticed any of the good they have done for the club or if they were even around when we were finishing in the lower half of League Two.

the more i think about the agreement and work in cooperation with university of nottingham, the more i think it will be beneficial to our city not just notts. it does look like the idea place to train as there are not many facilities like it nearby that are in places that gives the club some privacy.

It looks like the club are getting the infrastructure sorted before bringing in a coach. Several clubs are also looking for managers, and having things in place like this could help us stand out. The squad and our fanbase are important, but improving the training ground and other facilities can only be a positive step.

Let them train on The Embankment, it’ll help prepare them for the rough pitches we’ll face in League Two.

When we trained at the National setup in Burton, it felt like a waste of time, especially with players like Dean Leacock complaining about the pitch. At least Meadow Lane is like a gorgeous rug, and the new training facility agreement sounds like a great move.

Working with the Uni is a smart decision.
