What positions should Notts bring in next?

With a striker and midfielder already signed, what positions do you think Notts should focus on next?

The question of replacing Sam Slocombe and Tyler Miller still needs to be answered. Is one keeper enough? Maybe the club should bring in another young talent, like they did with Tiernan Brooks.

A centre back, winger, keeper, and attacking midfielder would be ideal. The attacking midfielder should be the kind of signing that makes other League Two teams jealous.

Notts need a playmaker, a number 10 who has a good football brain & can pass the ball quickly and accurately.

I think we need another striker just in case our two main strikers are injured or, & I don't want this to happen, Jatta is sold.

I'd also like to see another wing back recruited & of course we need another goalkeeper who is going to challenge Bass for the number one jersey.

Last but not least they should recruit another defender who can play in all the defensive positions.

All these players need to be skillful & good ball players but they must also be strong & be able to mix it with the opposition physically.

One of those players needs to be a leader too. I don't think the present Notts squad has a leader & Notts desperately needs one as a Club Captain.

Watching England last night was like watching Notts. Slow build up and moving side to side. Senegal looked like most of the teams we played last season direct fast playing through the lines. I think in terms of who we bring in next, will depend on the system we play going forward. This could hinge on the new head coach. Certainly we need players who are fast and strong and can run with the ball. I appreciate this is league two, not the premier league, so we might need to unearth some young talent from somewhere.

I agree with Robbie that the new players need to be strong/physical and that we need a leader, but I would also like to see a bit of an antagonist, bit of a rule breaker, like other teams seem to have, just to mix it up a bit. Notts always just seem a but to nice.

A goalkeeper is something we need to tick off, but I wouldn't go for two more. I would just look for someone capable of being good enough for first-team football but who can learn from Alex Bass. There has to be a keeper between 19-23 that can offer reliable hands, whilst waiting for his chance to play within the first team. As for other positions, I do agree that some creativity is needed. I believe we require more potent threats to our goal-scoring capabilities. I would love us to sign a Jeff Hughes type player, who is comfortable playing behind the strikers but can be lethal on the wing.

Kellan Gordon and Nick Tsaroulla are great players, but I don't think they are regular goal scorers. Will Jarvis and Jodi Jones, I think will be able to chip in with goals, but I would like to see someone who can allow us to take the pressure off Jones so that we can keep him for those crucial games.

I wonder if we will give James Sanderson a chance to flourish within the first team? I don't think the squad is a million miles away from being completed.

Replacement for Sam Slocombe/Tyler Miller is a must.

Kyle Cameron and Robbie Cundy, with a defensive cover would be nice. If we could find someone young, tall, and similar to Alex Lacey in his first season at Notts.

Charlie Whitaker, David McGoldrick and Sam Austin are perhaps the last positions to fill.

i am wondering if we are going spend to bring in a replacement for david mcgoldrick.

@ARLukomski are there any good freebies still free agents?

i think the main two positions would be attacking midfield, to replace didzy and dan crowley. then the keeper, the rest will come but those for me are the key positions.

Three key areas for me would be an attacking midfielder with an eye for goal, a reliable backup keeper, and a defender or defensive midfielder who can cover both positions well. If only we could find a player like Gary Liddle, that would tick all the boxes.

I’m hoping the signings still to come will be big ones that show we’re aiming for promotion. I doubt we’ll get a keeper like Alex Bass, but someone reliable would do. A striker and a creative attacking midfielder who can score goals at our level would really add something. We’ve already got a strong squad, but improving the quality would send a message that we’re not dwelling on the play-off loss and are going for it this time.

Some players are still out of contract, and have not signed new deals as of yet. If I was Notts, I'd be all over Kian Spence from Barrow. I'd also be looking at Dean Campbell as well, although I think he has League 1 interest from Northampton and Stevenage. I'd also be looking at Charlie McCann (FGR) and Ben Stevenson (recently released by Cambridge).

I do think we need another striker with pace. Jack Stevens or Callum Osmand. If we want a more physical option, there's Michael Mellon or Freddie Draper.

The attacking midfield is very important. We have money to play with so there is the chance of getting someone in on a permanent. Joe White (Newcastle), Conan Noonan (Shamrock), Luca Barrington (Brighton) or Boris van Schuppen (FC Eindhoven) would fit the bill.

Definitely can improve at wing-back. On the left, Ben Jackson (Barrow), Vincent Harper (recently released by Exeter) and George Cox (recently released by Swindon) and on the right Macauley Southam-Hales (leaving Stockport) or Archie Davies from Carlisle.

I wouldn't mind us buying a player to develop at centre-back, like Conor Reynolds from Sligo.

Maybe a back-up keeper as well. Maybe Ben Winterbottom who recently left Fylde. More than good enough to be 2nd keeper.

I think the squad limit is 22, not counting keepers, loanees and U21s. That would put us on 17 right now? So not room for loads more. Could do with farming out a couple on season long loans again if that means they don't count towards the total.

Goalkeepers don’t count, @Sheffield Pie, so there’s not much space for many new arrivals. It’s best to focus on players who can help us score goals. I think Conor Grant should have a stronger season now that he’s settled, but signing an attacking midfielder feels essential.

Two number 10s would be my absolute top priorities given we’ve lost Didzy, Crowley and Whitaker. Grant is a bit of an enigma and Edwards just really struggled after his injury. It’s such a key position for how we play, unless we are going to set-up slightly differently we need some real quality here. In League 2 I think Jack Payne is probably the next best attacking midfielder, he would be great for us, but I can’t see that transfer happening.

I agree we need another centre back, back-up keeper and possibly another wingback too.
