New signing Sonny Aljofree I assume

Sounds good and a leader at a young age.

Have all Notts signings thuis summer, so far been loanees and free transfers? Have we actually paid a proper transfer free for any of the players yet?

He might not be first choice, but getting him on loan is still a smart move. Itโ€™s good to bring in someone with his skills, especially from a big club like Manchester United. Heโ€™s probably really talented, since heโ€™s come through their academy. That means heโ€™s been trained well and knows how to play properly, which can help our team a lot.

Itโ€™s great that weโ€™ve got him for the whole season. I just hope Man United donโ€™t take him back if he does well! Theyโ€™ve not been very good at defending lately, but Iโ€™m only messing about. Itโ€™s a really good signing.

I like that we are adding depth; he should be good cover, but with the options we have and our formation of being three at the back, it's hard to see how Sonny Aljofree will get ahead of Lewis Macari, Lucas Ness, outside of injuries. Not a negative, as I say depth and cover are vital.

Hope he enjoys his experience and time at Meadow Lane.

I wish we'd kept him for good. That way I couldโ€™ve found out how much we paid for Sonny. Was he a bargain or did we sneak in a cheeky fee? Maybe it was a buy-one-get-one-free situation and we just forgot to claim the other one. Welcome to Meadow Lane, Aljifree! Lovely name, sounds like a fancy shampoo or a stylish getaway. Just do us a favour, mate: when your contractโ€™s up, drop us a line and sign off saying โ€œAlgofreeโ€. Itโ€™ll be your legend move.

He's a good signing for Notts & comes to Notts with a good reputation.

Somehow, I don't think that Man U have sent Sonny to Notts to sit on the substitutes bench.

Sonny had 25 games at Accrington, where by all accounts he was well liked. I'm sure that he will be expected to get a regular place in the Notts defence

Sonny needs plenty of game time. & I suspect that he will get that at Notts. This means that there may be a player or two either being sold or sent on loan from Notts.

i hope he does not find himself without the chance to play, because we need to be ensuring those with fight starts games and with the amount of games it could be worth rotating at key teams so we reserve our better defenders for the big games and allow players like sonny to come in when we are playing teams were we can make a few changes without much concern. i think its a good signing, i hope he does well.

Itโ€™s a good signing, no doubt. Still, I do wonder if weโ€™re spending more on loan players than we usually would. Weโ€™ve got, what, three of them now? Iโ€™m not too worried, but it would be nice to buy a proper keeper. Someone we can count on long-term. Itโ€™d also be great to get an attacking midfielder in. Someone who can create chances and score goals. There must be clubs out there with the kind of player weโ€™re looking for. We just have to go and find them.

I wouldn't wanna make that call of who get's chopped from Macari, Bedeau or Platt. Probably our most consistant performers.

Thing is this signing looks great until we lose one of the ones mentioned above. Could you imagine the meltdown that would ensue if we sold Bedeau?

Either him or Matty Platt joining would likely cause a lot of upset, especially since we've let Alex Bass go. That decision alone has put fans on edge, so adding someone seen as a step down might stir things even more. I didnโ€™t expect Sonny to be welcomed so warmly. I thought people on social media might kick up a fuss again, saying things like โ€œheโ€™s just a loanโ€ or โ€œheโ€™s too youngโ€. But it seems like heโ€™s made a decent first impression.

Maybe they could all play @piedestrian, if we've got more options at the back that opens up the possibility of playing a back four with Bedeau at left back. With Iorpenda, Ness and McDonald, that's seven players competing for three or four places, so we're more than covered.

We have a new Head Coach in Town & I'm sure he's had input into the acquisition of Sonny Aljofree.

Every single Notts player doesn't have a right to a first team place. Every single one of them are going to have to justify to the new Head Coach why he should pick them in the starting eleven.

So we are going to have to wait & see what his opening league 2 team sheet against Newport will be. I suspect all options are on the table.

It looks like a smart signing, at least on paper. I do wonder if weโ€™ve spent a bit more on wages, or if weโ€™re holding money back to use in the January window. We might also be looking to put some of the Alex Bass fee back into the squad before the season kicks off. Thereโ€™s still plenty of time for that to happen.

Itโ€™s early days, but Iโ€™m pleased to see Sonny Aljofree join. Letโ€™s hope he settles in well.

With the addition of Sonny I make that 6 CBs for 3 spots, I thought we'd possibly change to a back 4 the fact we've called him a "central defender" in the first sentence of his announcement makes me think a back 3 is still "plan a". It gives us plenty of cover and all the players are quite flexible both Ness and McDonald could play in the middle, we saw McDonald play at RCB last season and Macari can even fill in at LCB if needed.

Seems a very sensible signing too, already experienced League 2 and recently signed a new contract at Man Utd so they clearly rate him. The big bonus for us is heโ€™s under 21 he doesnโ€™t technically have to be registered to the squad list so it means we still have 2 more spots available to sign more experienced out-field players in positions we really needโ€ฆ Attacking midfielders!

Solid signing, and he looks like he could challenge some of the older lads like Lewis Macari and Lucas Ness. Itโ€™s good cover, and getting a loanee makes sense here. Shame about the bad jokes around his name, especially the one Notts came up with.

I listened to Sonny's interview, & I learned that he was going to travel to Germany to join the squad there.

I presume that he will train with the squad on Friday & be in the match squad on the Saturday.

I'm sure that he would have begun his pre season training at Man U so it will be interesting to see if Martin plays him against Kaiserslautern.

I am going to say, I think he probably will / should replace Macari.

Macari is OK defensively but going forward I still donโ€™t think he looks that comfortable and confident in the choice of forward pass to make and then ends up a little too often for me, going backwards.

Rod McDonald seems to be one of those players fans often overlook. Alongside Lewis Macari and Lucas Ness, he adds depth to the defence, which should help keep things steady at the back.

With these options, weโ€™ll be able to rest key players, deal with any injuries, and give someone a break during busy spells. That kind of cover is really useful over a long season.

He seems like a level-headed bloke, so I hope he gets a fair chance and does well.
