Notts now have a proud record

After their win over Fleetwood on Saturday, Notts join Port Vale as the only two clubs that have beaten all 91 league clubs in the four tiers.

It would have been better if the graphic showed the teams we beat first, instead of listing them in alphabetical order. That would have made the achievement stand out more. Notts has plenty to be proud of, and this is another great moment to add to the list.

Itโ€™s another feather in our cap, and it shows how far weโ€™ve come. The team deserves credit for it.

This is brilliant! Last season I sort of realised Fleetwood were the missing one, but then I forgot it again ๐Ÿ˜

Port Vale completed the set (again) in April when they beat Bromley. I can imagine we had the whole set at some point in the past before we had two-up-two-down with the National League. Maybe we did it in 97-98 when we found ourselves in L2 for the first time in decades and met teams like Scarborough for the first time. I can't remember it ever being mentioned before though.

Letโ€™s hope this doesnโ€™t come with a curse, like when someone wins Manager of the Month and things go downhill after. Still, itโ€™s a great record for the club to hold.

Not many teams have managed it, which makes it quite a rare achievement. Thatโ€™s something to be proud of, especially for the players and staff who helped make it happen. Does anyone know which other club has done this? Itโ€™d be interesting to compare.

If you have any problems or concerns, feel free to send me a private message (PM). Always happy to help!

Just one club. Port Vale.

This milestone goes beyond numbers. Notts joined Port Vale as the only clubs to beat all 91 league opponents across four tiers. That is rare and speaks to the club's plan, its depth, and the level of consistency required. It shows how far the club has come since the dark days and how solid our recruitment, fitness, and game management are. The players deserve credit for rising to the challenge in different competitions.

The supporters deserve a nod too for backing the team through tough spells and celebrating the wins with respect. This is the moment to build from, not rest on it.

Port Vale surprises me, but it wasn't that long ago, at least to me, that they were in the old First Division after the formation of the Premier League. They used to be a club like Tranmere Rovers, that would be in the 2nd and 3rd tiers.

Back when Wigan were starting to grow in size and Sheffield United always seemed to be on the verge of promotion to the Premier League, alongside Wolves but struggling to make their size count. So, it's good to see that our years floating in the 4th tier haven't stopped us from achieving something exclusive like this, which really is a good record to have.

Vale fans might not be happy to share it, mind.

A field where dreams become reality.

The history of Notts makes this moment extra sweet.

Being the oldest professional club in the world brings responsibility, and last Saturday the side showed why the club remains relevant. The 91 teams in four divisions is a testament to resilience and long-term thinking.

The fans deserve to feel proud, but we must keep our discipline and respect on and off the pitch. We should celebrate with humility and let the players enjoy the moment, then remind ourselves the real work starts next match. The board has to keep investing in youth and facilities to sustain this level. Notts can be at the heart of the city again if we stay focused and grounded.

This has been earned, weโ€™ve beaten tough teams when it counted. Fleetwood showed we can dig in and push on. Itโ€™s raised expectations, but the seasonโ€™s long. Stay focused, stay fit, and this could be the start of something big.

The club should prep for the next window, add depth without upsetting the balance.

I've discovered a Facebook group called The English Football Record. It's a utopia for anoraks and our record has spurred some people to do some research. So I'll shamelessly report their findings - after all, it must be true if it's on the internet!

I thought it seemed improbable that no team had ever beaten all 91 other league members before Vale did it relatively recently, especially when you consider that there was relatively little change in the 92 teams between 1921 and the 80s. And I was right. It seems the first team to do this was Bury when they beat Hartlepool on 11 September 1973 (obviously they don't hold it any more). Bradford City have also completed the set, first doing it in 2014 and again last season when they beat Bromley. So to date three clubs hold this record. Grimsby are one short.

89 of the 91 have also beaten us (which two teams are we unbeaten against?) while 90 have beaten Bradford. And Port Vale are the team we have beaten most by far - 42 times!

So where's our trophy?

@DangerousSausage

I've seen the claims for Bradford City & Swindon Town, but I think some are counting Cup wins against League Clubs when only League meetings should be counted. That's why I think we have just Port Vale and Notts that are the official two.

Swindon Town are definitely missing some that they are unlikely to get in the near future @Robbie (one of them is Manchester United). I think Bradford is more credible.

I've also found out that we've beaten Arsenal 20 times!

so the record is lost when a new team is promoted that the club has not played? what is the purpose of it then??? surely the record should stand but accredited to the season, then becomes reactivated when new numbers come in the efl. otherwise, it means very little when some obscure team is promoted from the national league which is highly unlikely for a bigger team to play.

i am pleased for notts, but the record means nothing if by next season its wiped until we play the newly promoted teams if we haven't won them already.

does national league games count? what about cup ties? it seems like one of those records nobody has put much thought into but love to throw about being of how difficult it is to achieve. plus when you have been in the lowest tier for so long, but have been around as long as notts you are bound to be in the running to do all 91.

Ahem. Notts currently hold this record, so it is incredibly important and meaningful ๐Ÿ˜

Of course it's an advantage if you're in L2 or L1 as you have the chance to play and beat league newbies. At the minute, only the 27 teams that have played Bromley come into question.

If you want to see a really pointless football record, have a look at the unofficial world football club championship. They picked the first ever FA Cup game in which a goal was scored in 1872 and crowned the winners, Clapham Rovers, "world champion". Then it works like boxing - they hold it until they're beaten, and then the team that beats them is the new champion. The current champions are Chelsea. https://www.stevesfootballstats.uk/ufcc_full_results_2020_-_2030.html

It's a strong record to hold, and it shows things are improving compared to the start of the season. Hopefully, more meaningful awards and achievements will follow soon. Itโ€™s a good sign that progress is being made.

its like giving a medal to someone who finishes last. we might have won all the teams in the 91 now, but in the future when newer teams come in it will mean nothing. like it does exist. it would mean more if it was recorded as the first time and year, then followed up the second or whatever time.

@liampie, this season is about achieving something special by beating Fleetwood Town. We now join Port Vale and a few past teams who have beaten all 91 professional league clubs from the Premier League to League Two.

It is an achievement to be proud of, much like visiting all 91 grounds, and it means a great deal to the fans.

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!
