The WE ARE GOING UP thread

I've just looked at the table and we're fourth, have lost three games out of 16 and have a hard-working, passionate team. I'm excited. There now cannot be any doubt whatsoever that Shaun Derry's black and white army will lead us to the Championship and eventually to world domination and beyond. Someone's got to win promotion, after all. It's about time it was us.

Keep this at the top if you agree with the following:

WE ARE GOING UP SAY WE ARE GOING UP!

It would be nice, I think it may depend on which loan signings we can keep/acquire. Dexter Blackstock might be a good shout, but it will depend on many things, including if SD & GA think he is the right fit.We will need game changers on the bench to maintain this push.

A bloke on match days has been telling me he's joining us for the past 3 months.

If Blackstock did come down, he would do a good job in this league but I do feel it's nothing more than a rumour. If there was any truth in it, media especially people like Robin Helicopter would pick it up.

A lot depends where we stand when the transfer window opens up, yet I do like singing the "WE ARE GOING UP" song.

PS. I thought this was about something @Joe Jones wrote, he writes for the website 'We are going up".. lol

I really, really hope you are right but there is a long way to go, hey we can dream though can't we?

This season should teach us that splashing the cash doesn't equal success. This season we probably have the lowest budget since returning to this division.

Last season 74 points was enough to get into the play-offs. So we need 45 points from our remaining 30 games, or 1.5 points a game. We're currently averaging 1.8 points per game.

We just need 15 wins. It's easy. 20 years of lower-division football are finally at an end, and happy, carefree days in the Championship and derby wins against Florist are within our grasp. What could possibly go wrong?

Oh I've always believed you have to spend wisely.

Some managers never accessed the risk of injuries, so from what I've been told about or seen in comments never had checks on what they're like as a player or a person. Derry mentioned last year in the Youth Award Night that he wouldn't waste the money he'd be given and that either him or Greg would personally go speak to a player 'the old fashioned' way before making a decision on offering a contact.

It's paying off.

Some clubs barely spend money yet have success based on playing wages alone, I.E no transfer fees. Free agents get a lot of bad press but really, it's a suitable system for our league and if sides like Walsall and other teams can use it wisely then so can we.

You're spot on what you said.

If only we could drum this into the kop and manage all to be vocal for at least 70 minutes.

WE ARE GOING UP, SAY WE ARE GOING UP!

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!

We should perhaps be wary of pressure but harm in trying to give vocal support.

It's something I'd like to see, we should be louder. It's different at away games, which is odd but perhaps we should see it more so at home. I recall at Barnsley how eerie it had became after going 2-0 down but Thompson's strike change that and I do believe the singing helped.

Do you have a shot at promotion? Yes. Do I believe we'll go up? No. Injuries and suspensions will take their toll and we don't have a deep enough squad. We don't have a goalscorer other than Thompson at the moment. We rely heavily on loanees who could return to their parent club. This season has already been a success. I'd be happy with a top 10 spot.

Of course it's not a foregone conclusion. We could still fall flat on our faces and miss out on automatic promotion. Having to book an expensive hotel near Wembey for the play-off final would be a pain, especially as it's only a week before the FA Cup final. I suppose I'd better start saving just in case.

Greg, Shaun..... Take note guys ;)

We need to be making it easier for whoever starts upfront, this comes with confidence and effort. Not that long ago we wasn't scoring, then we started knocking them in for fun - I think there needs to be a little consistency here. I think we have depth but not as much cover as we perhaps might like, however it depends on what happens really.

First time in a long while I see the bench having strong contenders who can help.

Derry's always said he wants to keep the numbers down, so he can access each player and that allows him to know his squad better. I think a couple of additions in January and a chance to stay in the mix of things, we can work on the depth further.

The loan market is an asset for us, we need to be continuing as we are and perhaps extending some for the season wherever possible.

Keep the squad together, keep the fans on side and just make sure that football is enjoyable. We have players who look very confident when we do all these things correctly and maybe, just maybe we can see this dream continue. The bright side is promotion, after that it's a respectable finish after a very tough and disappointing season.

COME ON YOU PIES!!

At the beginning of the season we were all hoping for mid table respectability and not another relegation struggle. At the moment things are much better than any of us could have imagined.Things can soon change but we are at the right end of the table and while we are up there why  shouldn't we BELIEVE that the dream can become reality.COYP, WE ARE GOING UP.

Powerful tool belief, we could go a long way.

We are here for the ride and for the club we support, so lets see what the boys can do and just how much the support can impact. Right now I have my thoughts that it may come undone but I am prepared for that. I really hope we can continue from here.

YOU PIES!

The next stage of the great plan is complete, we are Concentrating On The League (and the JPT).

Incidentally, when Neil Warnock took us up from this level, we went out of the FA Cup in the first round away to Donny Rovers, who were in what's now League Two. Could it be a sign?

We could go up but i think we'd be better to stay in this league for now as we may just come back down as we are still in the process of building a strong team.
