So according to the NP we are looking to sign Craig Mackail-Smith... to complement our forward line.

Firstly do we need, want him? Secondly I have heard rumour he has already signed for Luton, the Deal just hasn't been announced yet.

I think a fit CMS would score a lot of goals at league 2 level, and I'm not sure we have a 20 plus striker on our books, so it's a yes from me!

It would be interesting if we did sign him, I do feel his standard is the lower/mid tier. I don't think he quite cuts it at Championship player but he would be a very outstanding assist for Notts.

I do think he would score for fun (as we have seen) within League One.

Until it's confirmed he's signed for anyone, it's all speculation though.

The NEP say a lot of things, rarely does it seem that they are right about much at all.

Craig Mackail-Smith would be an outstanding signing and it would really put to rest the over hype of Jon Stead, yet we never seem to have that type of quality up front. If we pulled it off, he would be by far one the more popular signings at this football club.

I would love for this signing to happen, I am sure half of the fan base would.

We could finally have options whereby we can actually rotate strikers and make that work to our advantage, last season we had nobody strong enough to hold the ball until Spencer came back and no one looked convincing on goal. Please make this happen!

Heard he isn't going to Luton and he had to pay for his holiday and was only there for fitness reasons ( from a Luton fan)

Would be very happy at this stead and CMS upfront in league 2 is like a dream strike partnership.

That said we can match any offer they make him.  If he doesn't sign we have other options.

He is a free agent so there is no fee but his wage demands are high but then so are all strikers

@RayTrew Do you feel disappointed by agents or players for not returning messages to the club? Has Craig Mackail-Smith been in regular contact with Notts and do you personally feel you will be hearing from him with regards to signing?

if he scores he will be worth the wages, i hope we can hear some news within the next two weeks ideally. i would not wait much longer than that for him to sign on!

He would be a striker who would make me more than happy.

Could he do a job in League One? For sure, any higher? Perhaps. I hope we can do all within our power to sign Mackail-Smith because he is a player who works his socks off and knows where the net is. Very good player, who will no doubt be in high demand.

Always seemed likely, we can move on now. Spend widely on the defence, perhaps bring in one more striker but we need to keep the group together.

I just hope hanging on in the vain hope that CMS signed for us hasn't made us miss other targets, to be honest I would feel a lot more disappointed if it was a top central defender we had missed out on rather than a striker, we have until end of Aug to find a permanent striker as I'm sure we can muddle through till then but a decent CD, we needed one of them like........ yesterday.
