McLeod should make his debut in this game. I'd imagine Villa will field a weakened side, hopefully we get to see Jack Grealish. RM might go with his strongest side, Noble will be suspended so at least one change.

Our defence is poor but Villa are not exactly prolific. 2-1. McLeod to open his account.

Just in time really, I do feel a good performance could encourage better from Notts and in turn kick start our season.

I wouldn't predict a win, Villa should shine but if we keep within the game - perhaps the Liverpool scenario could be repeated. Grealish will pull their strings and I do hope to hear of him doing well.

If Notts can represent the club proudly, that's all I would ask and want.

Sorry but Villa will do to us, what Arsenal did to them at Wembley. There is no contest here, we will play second fiddle.

Let's go in optimistic and believe we can get something, no point otherwise. Villa park is a grand venue, I have been several times.

I think this will go down to peno's!

I am optimistic, I just realise that we will struggle to the level of opposition and most likely end up losing in the process but I am optimistic none the less.

you know i have a good feeling, both teams should be focusing on their league campaign but i do think the underdog is favoured here. a lot of pressure will be on villa, we wont have that and it should see us play better.

all we need is to grab a goal against the run of play.

A win would be nice but we will just go to play for 90 minutes, what happens happens. I hope we can be loud, as this will be great.

is it on tv?

I dont think we will get anywhere near the fiddle... let alone play it second...

Lots to them and nowhere near enough from us.

It could become embarrassing, I wonder if Moniz will park the bus or if he will go out all attacking?

Hey folks!

The Opposition View is up. Featuring Kevin Grealish, read about how he thinks Villa are going to get on, who will shine for the hosts and what he reckons the score and goalscorers will be!

This question occupied an anonymous poet during the First World War too. Love this.

THE BURNING QUESTION

Three Tommies sat in a trench one day,
Discussing the war in the usual way,
They talked of the mud and they talked of the Hun,
Of what was to do and what had been done,
They talked about rum, and-tis hard to believe,
They even found time to speak about leave,
But the point which they argued from post back to pillar,
Was whether Notts County could beat Aston villa,

The night sped away and zero drew nigh,
Equipment made ready all lips getting dry,
And watches consulted with each passing minute
Till five more to go then twould find them all in it,
The word came along the line to get ready!
The sergeant admonishing all to keep steady,
But out rang a voice getting shriller and shriller,
I tell yer Notts County can beat Aston Villa!

The earth shook and swayed and the barrage was on
As they leapt o'er the top with a rush, and were gone
Away into Hun land through mud and though wire
Stabbing and dragging themselves though the mire
No time to heed those who are following en route
Till stopped by a strong point they lay down to shoot,
Then through the din came a voice " Say Jack Miller! "
"I tell yer Notts County can beat Aston Villa"

The strong point has gone, and forward they press
Towards their objective in number grown less
They reach it at last and prepare to resist
The counter_attack, which will come through the mist
Of the rain falling steadily, dig and hang on
The word for support back to H.Q has gone
The air charged with moment grows stiller and stiller---
" Notts County's no earthly against Aston Villa "

Two " Blighties ", a struggle through mud to get back
To the old A.D.S down a rough duck board track
A hasty field dressing a ride in a car
A wait in a C.C.S., then there they are
Packed side by side in a clean Red Cross train,
Happy in hopes to see Blighty again,
Still, through the bandages, muffled "Jack Miller,
I bet you Notts County can beat Aston Villa! "

H'mmmm - this will either be a battering or we'll make a decent fist of it but narrowly dip out in a tightly contested battle. I fear that it will be the former on the basis that we look cr@p tbh.

I we persist with tripe like Audel, Stead & the likes of De Silva, Jenner and Bennett then we may as well just concede defeat. Whoever is responsible for signing this rubbish should be sacked tbh.

The only, faint, hope is that MacLeod plays and provides some sharpness up front.

Hoping for a win but expecting a disappointing outcome. Still, Come on You Piiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeees.
