Sky reporting Cotterill has been sacked, would have loved to see him back at Notts!

No thanks, any half decent manager could have got us promoted that year. It just showed how bad McParland and Hans Backe really were. Bristol City had a very good budget but now they're having to compete with teams with better budgets than them he's struggling.

He appears to have a shelf life of around 2-3 years at most clubs (apart from Cheltenham) and then he ends up leaving one way or another. Don't think he would ever come back to Notts and not sure if he would be able to build a team, rather than buying one.

I doubt he would have came back here, it's like Martin Allen's views on returning in my opinion.

I'm not his biggest fan either, yet had we have had a vacant position now - I wouldn't voice objection to it. I think he would have been a good option, yet I suspect @ivansneck is right. Jamie Fullarton's black & white army! :hyper:

I don't think hes actually a bad manager and would like to have seen what he could of done at forest with some money to spend. I know a lot of forest fans called for his head in his tenure with us. But he did save us from relegation with what had to be  described as a very very poor team that we had. He's done wonders at Bristol getting them promoted yeah it's been a struggle this season but hes hardly been given the funds to build the team up.

Let's say I had a face-to-face conversation with him when he was at Pompey on this point. I'm not going to put verbatim quotes out, but let's say that he was unequivocal at the time on the point.

It's academic anyway, we've got our manager for the next six months and Cotterill will be looking for a club in League One at least. Seems a harsh decision from a distance.

I suspected this was the case.

I also recall Ray saying once on here that he wouldn't reappoint Steve Cotterill. You should try to speak to Martin Allen one day, I wonder if you would feel deja vu.
