The club's FB page has informed us that it's not Zlatan. That can only mean one thing: it's Zlatan.

Quite intrigued about these other announcements too.

Very good appointment, he stopped two sides from being relegated last season, now he needs to get us up the other end of the table and moving in the right direction, towards league 1.

Interesting statement from Simon Corney, the Oldham chairman, on Sheridan's departure:

“It is particularly tough for me as John is not only a good manager but also a good friend. There are several reasons behind this move and not all will be apparent to everyone, but John goes with my blessing and eternal thanks for his tremendous effort in keeping us in Division One last season.”

That's half the job done. JS is a good manager and a decent bloke. New owners next on the agenda I hope. A fresh start is what the club needs.

thats how i feel but i do not like how notts have packaged him, you would have thought we would have learned to not do it.

i doubt it will make the impact they hope for season tickets but i do just hope that he is the right man to move the club forward. the new owners can focus on getting better when the pr of the club returns to normal.

I agree, he did a really good job with the reserves, especially during the second half of the season when his playing pool was vastly reduced. I am glad though that it finally looks as though Notts have appointed a manager who has been allowed to bring in his own backroom team and not had one handed to him.

It won't make sales worse though.

On a scale of realistic managerial appointments for us this must rate 8.5/10.

On a scale of possible Ray Trew managerial appointments for us this must rate 9.9/10 at least

Whether this decision has been made by RT or by a potential new owner, it has to be applauded.  It seems Sheridan was wanted at Oldham one league above, so someone must have put forward a convincing case to persuade him to come to us.  Well done to whoever it was.

it's obviously Jason turner worked with him at Plymouth Newport

Also Oldham offerd him a pay rise to stop Sheridan coming to us either the new buyers have stated they want Sheridan as part of the deal.

Or Ray has had a change of heart calmed down and though il try make things right and back a expierenced manager.

I have no doubt that if Sheridan is backed and can pick his own players we will compete in the top 6.

Whoever is responsible for the appointment it has to be applauded. We as a club have been crying out for this type of appointment for years.

Actuallu looking forward to the summer now as it seems that Notts wont be as unsettled as i thought

@Fozzy ..his own backroom team... I've always been against "bringing in my best buddy" ( Derry and the "clown") as in professional sport now, you need someone with a constructive perspective. However in this case, I think we may well have brought in a suitable #2. It's now the Chief Scout, Head of Recruitment, that is the crucial part of the jigsaw.
