Peterborough United

Peterborough made their ninth signing yesterday adding Sirike Dembele from Grimsby to their squad. It was for an undisclosed fee but I imagine it to be around 100k. It seems like Peterborough have only been signing League Two players this window, but they have a habit of turning them into gold dust that are quickly swept up by higher clubs.

The owner also expressed his interest on twitter regarding Jorge Grant and fans have been rumouring a potential swap + cash deal for Jack Marriott.

Should we have paid more attention to players like Dembele? All I can say is thank the lord we did not pay 100k for Noble. Also does this make the winger Danny Lloyd (Lloyd McGoldrick) available with the arrival of Dembele?

if they signed jorge grant it would be madness, i had hoped dembele would have been our radar but it does not seem to be the case.

we need another winger who has quality.

Peterborough do well with giving players a chance and getting the best out of them. I can’t see them wanting Jorge Grant on loan, I think they would offer money for him.

Promotion is looking good for them.

Peterborough always do find thise little gems they are know for it ..! But I think campareing is to them signing wouldn’t be the best thing just because we have different methods and playing style to them.

They always do pick up the best players from various teams below them, it’s something Peterborough United are very good at.

If Jorge Grant ends up there, good luck to him because they’d look after him.

Siriki Dembele would have been a brilliant acquisition for Notts.

The club may have enquired about his services but with a former Championship team showing interest its always going to be hard. He's the type of signing Notts should have been first onto because this may have given us a bit more chance. Liam Noble was never worth 100k, he's going to be lucky to receive a six figure fee at the rate he's performing.

I would look for a permanent option and Peterborough United may have someone available.

The word from the grapevine is that he's quite temperamental.

Could Notts afford to have two players who are like this within their ranks? I don't think it would be a good thing. Kevin Nolan needs to get the most out of Liam Noble, I would prefer a better Terry Hawkridge coming in. Someone like Terry, yet who has pace and can be more of a delivery specialist.

Tbh its hardly finding little gems, its more like paying a hell of a lot more than most are willing to go to, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Darragh McAntony has ALWAYS put his money where his mouth is so to speak so the deserve the money they get back.

A lot of this hype around Peterborough started with Mckail-Smith & McLean, they paid the best part of £1 million for them, how many league clubs can afford to potentially waste that on non-league players?

Good to see all the replies! It's interesting to see what everyone thinks about this topic.

I would have taken Dembele and pushed out Noble if we couldn't have the two around the club.

The problem is nobody knows what he would have been like.

We are judging him by what happened at a club that stopped building a team to do well, to one which sold its best players and replaced the quality very badly. I would have liked to see Dembele here, I think he would have excelled.

Tbf to Noble last season he was quite clearly doing as he was asked , much like Adam Collin at the start of the season was by slowing the play down so much, I would think Noble will be a far far better player now we have the likes of Hemmings, Dennis & Kellet

I shoulf have said will appear to those that don't rate him a far far better player

You would hope that Noble can improve this season, he's more of a ball on the ground player and if Notts play this way. He may do okay, but I still think we need more quality adding to the midfield and defence.

I would hope we can sign another good winger, it’s important that we have that quality there. Dembele I would have jumped to sign, hopefully we can unearth a good player to come in that’s better.

we are supposed to be signing a new winger towards the end of next week, so hopefully we will have a bit of pace and skill there. its a shame about dembele but maybe kn felt he was not the right player?

I know nothing much about this Dembele player, but I do hope that if Jorge Grant signs for Peterborough United that he's confident about getting in their squad. I don't think they need any more wingers, they have a few good players already but that's the thing about Steve Evans.

He likes to cram in as much as possible.

Aaron Chapman, Rhys Bennett, Colin Daniel, Alex Woodyard, Mark O'Hara, Matt Godden, Jason Naismith, Louis Reed and Siriki Dembele.

Made some really good signings. 6 of them for fees. Will have a good go at promotion next season for sure

I read last time I visited PON that another new signing was on the verge of joining but I have not heard anything. Does anyone have any ideas who this game changing winger could be?
